  1. I suspect that rather than simply being down to relative adhesion levels, the breakaway characteristics of a tyre will have a greater influence on both driver behaviour and safety. A tyre which grips like the proverbial and then lets go all of a sudden is more likely to induce uncontrolled sliding behaviour than one which has a more progressive breakaway.

Ditto 😎 But nice to see it’s not only men who are interested in their cars, go girls 👍

I have it but I don't use it much, I try to rely on my own senses and on sensors. I have never had a camera before so I'm not used to using it. However, in some situations it has shown itself helpful... So, basically my recommendation would be the same as Ajdolin's: Hahahah, never would have guessed you were also a female My husband also had a couple of incidents where the car had to come to an abrupt halt, so I think I will follow you advice 🤪😂
  4. How on earth did that happen? 😳
  5. Bear in mind that this is, in theory, illegal. A speedo can legally read high, can't remember by how much, but must not read low.
  6. You can check for yourself by registering for erWin, 7€ gives you an hours access.
  7. After 1 year and 7 months, It'll soon be time to send my beloved Octavia away. I took the car from 242,500 km to 278,900 km and it has never left me stranded. It's been fairly cheap to maintain and extremely reliable, comfortable and efficient! This was the first time I actually got to work on my car and it was relatively easy and wonderful experience. I upgraded the car in several ways and it feels pretty modern in 2022. Since I logged everything. here are some stats I could gather Fuel (Tracked using Fuelio) Number of fill-ups - 54 Number of liters - 2263.78 Average fuel consumption - 15.89 km/l Cost - €3931.26 Total spent on upgrades - €808.23 Total spent on maintenance - €1405.88 The exhaustive maintenance log is attached with other details and running costs (as applicable to me) for anyone interested. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Briskoda and everyone who helped me along this journey. In a few months, I will need to start looking for a new car and this time, I will be driving on the wrong side of the road 🤪 Skoda is definitely on my radar but mostly an other brand under the VAG group or even a Volvo! 8. Seeing as the strut looks newer than the other side, it looks as though it's been replaced at some point? I think maybe that particular brand of strut just has less length at the bottom by design, making it look like it's not fully home. Judging by the rust mark, it looks like it's only ever been down another few millimetres, which could be just a bit of slack on the plate hole? As for the flexi hose - it beggars belief that they've let you drive away with the hose postioned on the wrong side of the strut. That is downright dangerous and crass stupidity. This is why I try to do all my own work and HATE using garages.
  9. Errors my disappear, but if your car has a BMS, your battery won't be charging properly and maintained correctly by the car.
  10. My Octavia iV does it now I’ve been in with licence. Just tried it.
  11. I did not fill it with 4.3l, only 4 litres and the level after was over the dipstick mark...really weird. I would monitor the levels in the next few weeks and see if it is dropping or increasing. I do not have any diagnosis equipment....used to have an ob2 but it was useful. Thanks for your help!
  12. Indeed. People not only need to know what there tyres are, but pressures are as air / ground temps change through seasons and even day to night.
  13. @roottoot does that not make my argument even stronger?
  14. I´ve been looking closer at the App and it states « Lock & unlock is available for vehicle manufactured after Nov. 2018. Mine has been built in Nov. 2017. 😐 Good point for @sneal !
  15. My apologies - I should have addressed my comments to the OP. My role in life is to make things more complicated than necessary!
  16. Like others have said, the outside diameter of the Kodiaq 215/65R17 tyre size is too big for the Karoq 4x4. If you want 17" tyres rather than 16" tyres, then 215/60R17 would be a good option rather than the standard Karoq 4x4 225/55R17 especially if you are going to use the 6.5Jx17 ET38 Kodiaq rims on the Karoq 4x4. 215/60R17 is a common tyre size and cheaper than all of the Karoq 4x4 225/60R16, 225/55R17, 225/50R18, and 225/45R19 tyre sizes. The outside diameter of 215/60R17 is very close to your current 225/45R19 tyre size. Michelin CrossClimate 2 215/60R17 96H https://www.camskill.co.uk/m140b0s8016p208542/Michelin_Tyres_All_Season_Car_Michelin_Cross_Climate_2_-_215_60_R17_96H_TL_Fuel_Eff_%3A_C_Wet_Grip%3A_B_NoiseClass%3A_B_Noise%3A_71dB You can see in the chart below, that a 6.5J rim width is ideal for a 215/60R17 tyre size, hence it's highlighted in bold. ETRTO approved rim widths 215/60 6.0-6.5-7.5
  17. Two choices Overfilled previously Or the car is leaking diesel fuel into the oil Can you supply engine code, not a CAYC is it?
  18. You'll also find that the genuine CV boot clips are massively thicker/stronger than the ones that are supplied by the aftermarket. As changing the boot is quite an involved and messy job i've always fitted genuine for the peace of mind especially knowing how poor the aftermarket stuff is, bugger doing a job twice
  19. Thanks both, very helpful again.
  20. Love parkrun, its the best thing about the weekend for me. It sets you up for your Saturday. I'm currently making my way through the A - Z of parkruns for the Alphabeteer achievement (i#m aiming for one each month rather than trying to fit them all in as soon as possible), for this you need to take part in a parkrun whose name starts with every letter of the alphabet, A - Alderley Park, B - Birkenhead, C - Chester etc etc A week or two back I travelled up to Spennymoor (closest one) to take part in the Jubilee ParkRun to bag the J. There are only 4 parkruns in the UK starting with a J, Jubilee in Spennymoor, Jesmond Dene in Newcastle, Jersey Farm daaarn Saarth and the parkrun on the actual island of Jersey. K is next in a few weeks time, which my closest one is going to be "Kew Woods" in Southport. If you use parkrun, and you haven't already, I highly recommend the "5K" app (in your local app store), you put in your parkrun number and it will grab all your stats and show your details for all your parkruns and then you can also keep an eye on your achievements (there are lots).
  21. Rather common actually. Often just half a coil or less at the bottom, or most commonly at the top, I think. Fractured means broken anyway. But I'm right with you on the struts being cocked up.
  22. No; you do have to check the tyre pressures yourself so you know they're right; 2 otherwise good tyre fitters I know always set 30PSI all round, irrespective of car and tyre type and size. Then you also need to reset the TPMS so it knows you have new tyres and what the pressures actually are.
  23. hurry up need to see them fitted 😁
  24. Mine is a MK2 like the lower picture. 61 plate. I keep calling it a MK1.
  25. 3000 hours of engine running time he has equated to 30000kms for a vehicle that would not be equipped with an engine hour meter, not an unreasonable proposition for a modern vehicle in city traffic. Given the ECU records how many hours the engine has run for it would be far better to schedule timing belt changes on that than miles/kms.
  26. Do you have the TSB / TPI number? I can look at the files I have and see if it's in my collection.
  27. Unless you have retrofitted direct TPMS, there are no sensors in the wheels. It's all based on the speed readings from the ABS sensors.
  28. Since this is not a full time 4x4, it’s not an issue to change only 2 tyres. Note: Skoda recommands to use snow chains only on the front axle, even on 4x4 version! Not an issue at all for the Haldex then. But if you want to replace only the front tyres, have the your rear tyres swapped to the front axle and have the new tyres set on the rear axle. It will avoid oversteering.

Hosepipe ban here so not washed mine for months. Black cars always look dirty anyway so you can’t really tell!
  30. Hi @varooom If it were guaranteed to fix the problem I would definitely pop over to see you buddy, but a lot of people are suggesting a motherboard issue which can only be fixed with a replacement board, so it might be as well replacing the unit. Out of interest, which district of West Yorkshire are you in?
  31. See post from varooom , you need to post the Software Train information to identify the correct firmware upgrade required.
  32. Match the 6q0909606 and fit. Job done.
  33. I'd second this. The Superb is a heavy beast and if you carry loads etc the springs do suffer. I had a similar issue wearing tyres on the inside somewhat - especially after a long trip through France fully laden with luggage / big people. Even on it's return it still wore on the inside a little. Eventually it failed it's MOT on a snapped spring(separate issue) and after replacement of both sides I was quite surprised how much higher the rear end looked - although looking at an earlier photo it was just back to the height when nearly new. Tyre wear now back to normal. The Superb II has independent rear suspension which introduces negative camber as each side of the rear compresses - if sagged all the time that camber will wear the tyres on the inside. I'd follow the advice to check heights as posted above by chimaera
  34. You’ll be fine, but I would buy a full set, then what I suggest - as does Skoda - is that every 6,000 miles you swap NSF to OSR and OSF to NSR. If you’re covering less miles than that, then do it annually. Both the previous owner and I have done this and I’m sure that’s greatly contributed to the original 2016 P7’s covering just under 38k with 2.5mm left on all four tyres. I’ll be replacing them later this year.
  35. I'm sure you're right. What shocking workmanship. ☹️
  36. Ideally you need to change all 4 tyres. Although I believe you can get away with only changing tyres on the same axle.
  37. Too many photos to put in one post but I've finished polishing the paint, wasn't glazed or waxed in that photo, so might come out a bit glossier when I'm actually finished. And I used trim restore on the bumpers, Didn't get a good before/after shot like I did the bonnet, so I did one on the boot trim. Took the plates off for probably the first time, as evidenced by the imprint of the numbers behind them. Not sure whether I'll keep the old plates or maybe get new metal ones. Might put a jap/square plate on the front as it seems one might fit it better than the original one
  38. Finally, after two months I have cleaned the car. The refurbed silver wheels are much more to my liking as I never really was a fan of the gloss black. I've also attached a couple of photos of our Ignis as I had those wheels done at the same time in BBS gold.
  39. I believe I read it on here that when you change the battery you need to start the car and do full steering lock left and right a few times, and yes get it coded in, as long as the battery size is the same you’re good the other code can literally be any value, just something different to the previous value as I believe not all batteries have the correct stickers https://youtu.be/IJAScg6JrYI
  40. I also dislike unnecessary tech. I also turn my s/s off, too. As it's never worked reliably since I've owned the car, but saying that I've never owned any car with a reliable s/s system. So i don't actually miss my s/s.
  41. Good choice, the 1.9 is super reliable, the 1.2 notsomuch.
  42. Try different settings with the recirc button on / off, could it possibly be it's the closure flap motor trying to operate, thats the only thing I can think is in that area which moves.
  43. UPDATE I've just got the Octavia back from Skoda. They have replaced the ABS pump controller and everything appears to be working now (touch wood)

My husband missed 2 stacked tyres when he was reversing last weekend and the car came to an abrupt halt, I guess the assistance pushed the brake instead. I have to say he gets in all sort of strange situations with my car, won’t let him drive much 😉

And how do you like your new ride, Audrey dear? 😊 I have to admit I love it, or her, I would drive for days if the tank would’t cost me nearly 80 eur… nice and smooth, fast when I need her to be, inside with DSG is 😍. Yep, I’m in love, already forgot about the waiting times 😉 Kessy is also a nice feature, no more looking for keys inside a woman’s bag 😊
  46. Headlights finally in my hands. Looking great and bright white 6000k. Left at shop for selfhealing PPF before installation next week.

You are right. Out of curiosity, I compared my order as of July 2021 (delivered beginning of this month, October 2022): 1.5 TSI, Ambition, with some minor extras. The price increase for my configuration is 3,500.00 EUR.
  48. Ive ordered some 2 part liquid polyurethane to make a hybrid rubber and polyurethane bush. Im going to fill the gaps between the rubber with polyurethane like an insert. Im hoping this will be a good balance and wont be too hard. Ill report back next week once its arrived.
  49. Cross Climate 2's seem to be winning most of the "All season" tests. Fitted a set a few weeks ago.
