  1. The MIB units are actually in 2 parts - a simple screen in the centre console and the "brains" in the glovebox. The real problem with any non-OEM unit is that it's an infotainment system not just an entertainment system - which means it also is used to control several car functions as well. None of the third party systems successfully do all of that. So the real answer is to rip the CDs onto a large capacity SD card and use that in the car as an equivalent to a mega-multi CD changer.
  2. I mostly wrapped them with some 'Chrome delete' wrap off amazon. Used it on the front upper amd lower grill as well as the side window trims. For the side rear window trims, I used a large gloss black vinyl wrap as the corner was really tricky to wrap in one piece with the curve. As for the roof rails, I swapped them for some cheap gloss black OEM ones I found online. All in all, this really helped elevate the looks of the car
  3. Totally get the tangible feel of a CD in a cover, unfortunately VW group moved away from that a while back. I really miss my 6 disc changer and single cd Sony headunit in my old car with the infinity speakers I put in the doors, it sounded very good. In my wife's car I find the sound a bit flat when connected via android auto, Bluetooth is better, CD much better. Sorry that we cannot offer any better options, they integrated so much into these infotainment units with functions to see service info adjustments to lights wipers etc, you cannot easily change it all out without loosing functionality you still need 😕

Thanks Tazman. My nearest, 100 miles away. Want the car for two days at £609 inc vat. Plus two nights in a hotel. Not very viable sadly. Cheaper to buy online and my nearest tyre fitter is £30 per wheel to swap over.
  5. He is trying to warn you that the cluster is part of the immobiliser and component protection systems. If you replace the cluster, the car won't start until you go to a garage/dealer who can reprogram those systems At a guess, the stepper motor could be failing or the needle is loose on the spindle causing the inconsistent behaviour. Taking the cluster out isn't super hard and the stepper motors are easy enough to replace or swap around as a test. Random guide for a MK7 Golf with a very similar design of cluster: https://www.golfmk7.com/forums/index.php?threads/diy-virtual-cockpit-retrofit-mk7-aliexpress-version.393101/
  6. The key to effective bleeding of the rear wheel cylinders, I think, is to do so with the rear beam at its normal working angle. If you look at images of people doing stuff to rear drums with the beam hanging down in the position it falls into when jacking just on the bodywork, the wheel cylinder tilts at same angle as arms of the beam. That results in the cylinder being at an angle to the horizontal. The bleed nipple is central in its length, so an air bubble can sit above and beyond the entry point of the bleed nipple, like a bubble in a tilted spirit level.
  7. I just wanted to post an update on this. We risked it and it failed. We got a good distance before the injector failed again and we had to be rescued. All in, we left at 10am and returned to the same spot at 1am on the back of a truck. Not great but perhaps a warning to others.
  8. Yes what a shame but the SD card option showing covers is a good compromise I think. Thanks for all the help!
  9. The leaf has been arround for ages, the battery energy density has improved over the years but they all have the same size and shape so most upgrades are using batteries from scrapped later models. It also has an enthusiastic group of early adopter owners so has a market for battery upgrades. I guess if somebody comes up with a way to upgrade the smaller battery MEB cars then that work around could be used to upgrade an enyaq but the only bigger battery on MEB is the 86kwh battery from an ID7 which wont be a big upgrade even if it physically fits.
  10. If it is this unit and you play from sd card you should see the covers
  11. Can’t help, I’m afraid, but I was thinking that I might add an auxiliary cable to mine and hide it inside the wheelarch. Behind the liner, maybe. I have done that on another car.
  12. Mib2 Start Facelift O3. My 2015 Mk3, MY16 (pre-facelift) has MIB2, I believe MIB2 was introduced after MY15.
  13. Mib2 Start Facelift O3.
  14. Passenger side can work from its own switch for 10 minutes after first powered up (refitting its fuse, or reconnecting car battery) but after that if it doesn't get any communication from driver's side motor module, it goes to sleep. I will message you @OG-Skoda since you don't have enough posts yet to send a message.
  15. This is the answer. ^^^^^^^ You can even put separate folders of his and her music on it so she can just play her own cds
  16. Hello everybody, this is my first post on the forum. I am 25 year old and have been driving skoda octavia mkii 2006 2.0tdi 140cv, tuned to 180cv at a local repair shop. Recently my sister has become adult and now she is getting to drive my car which I drove for 7 years already. So we needed another car and i have bought a 2011 1.6tdi CR octavia 105cv from 1000km away and drove it home. My parents also own another Octavia. 2019 2.0tdi 150cv dsg. We all love skoda and are looking for tips and tricks from fellow owners. Have a good day everyone.
  17. Modern cars with alternators are not like cars with dynamos used to be. It could be a failing alternator, a failing battery or some kind of parasitic drain. I have a voltage meter, the kind you put in your 12v socket. These are readily and cheaply available from Amazon. Plug one in and you should see the cahnge in voltage as the engine revs. It should read ~12v when idling, then increase to ~14 v when charging. If you do this you have evidence to show the dealer. Or simply go to another dealer. If the car is only 18 months old it should be a free fix under warranty.
  18. Why are you changing to AGM - it would have one anyway if the car has start-stop? Not sure 're the device question though. I put a new AGM on our 17 Yeti TDI last year - no issues.
  19. The satnav should carry on working as normal when you change the battery, as far as I'm aware a code is required only if you change the satnav system from one car to another (to avoid stealing the satnav systems)
  20. If still in the same car then no code should be required - unless CAN module inside Columbus is broken as then there is no communication with the car over CAN so Columbus cannot read data from the insruments cluser. In such case it may also discharge battery.
  21. Sounds like altering reported State of Health might be the new mileage clocking? Caveat emptor!
  22. While this video is made around our Skoda Yeti, I believe that most of the video is applicable for any DPF equipped Skoda 😊. This video is jam packed full of information! From what "the fix" is on a Skoda Yeti. I also run through the VAG DPF app and what it's telling you and then use it to show what the DPF is doing as your drive and why short runs in a diesel Skoda filled with a DPF do it no good. 😊
  23. Well as that document I gave the link to is from the Office of National Statistics in Westminster, then using your example, London would almost certainly be included and yet that is where the pollution is supposed to be higher, and hence the introduction of LEZ and the ULEZ in London so how does that work? Plus pollution further up North should be less as nowhere is very far away from off shore winds that blow it away. I think the info you posted is by AI and we all know that AI is crap.
  24. If set on Variable servicing then you can leave 24 months, or 18,000 months or even only 12 if you want. 18,000-20,000 miles even. But you might well want servicing annually. Safety inspections, brakes serviced, Suspension, steering, tyres etc changed. Pollen filter maybe sooner, Spark plugs or Air Filter at times other than in 2 year apart, or 4 or 6. Forget INSPECTION Service showing. That should have been set as Oil Service times. Or you can have OIL Service & Inspection showing year about. It does not just get an INSPECTION. Fixed, 9,400 miles, 372 days or sooner. Used to be Minor & Major Service, or Interim & Major, or Major / Major. Now Skoda Oil & Inspection Service annual & Extended Scope at 3 years, then at each 2. Service according to how you use the vehicle.
  25. As well as Amazon, DPD and the other parcel delivery firms the Royal Mail are progressing at pace.... Royal Mail achieves another electric vehicle milestoneIts 8,000th EV has been deployed eight years after its first zero-emission vans joined delivery offices across the UK..Furthermore, it has just rolled out its first fleet of electric heavy goods vehicles (eHGVs) in an effort to cut its carbon emissions by replacing diesel-powered 42-tonne trucks with the zero-emission alternatives. The fleet of eight fully electric HGVs will be deployed at its Midlands and north-west parcel hubs, handling ‘middle-mile’ deliveries between parcel hubs and mail centres. Each vehicle will be powered by ABB’s T360 chargers, capable of adding up to 60 miles of range in under 15 minutes. Thanks to its membership of Electric Freightway programme, Royal Mail has installed high-speed chargers at its two parcel hubs in Daventry and Warrington, which has made it possible to introduce eHGVs.

Ah, apologies I hadn't realised where you are located ! Yeah sounds easier to buy new wheels ! I used a company in Kilmarnock (Stiggy Motorsport), dropped off 8am, picked up 5pm same day. Really pleased with the service and finish. My wheels are a dark anthracite non standard? colour but they managed to come up with a match.
  27. Completely, but that Golf DID open a whole new world up for me. I used to reverse down the side of the house to park in the garden turned driveway. It was a student house. The driveway in question was about 3 inches wider than the car, which was great fun at night. I used to put all my fogs on, and hazards. Not the best experience at 1am when the council had turned the street lighting off to save money, but at least it taught me to park properly!

Worth looking at getting your wheels refurbished (stripped, blasted and powdercoated). I had mine done 3ish years ago now, made a huge difference to the look and also no more losing air which was the main issue. Probably around £250 for 4, some places do a same day turnaround. Cheers
  29. All working as it should, no issues so far.
  30. My electric car that i had from Motability lost 12,500 miles over night with an over the air software update that locked me out. Then lost more miles when at the Main Dealers getting Software Updates that they failed time after time to do. Finally done on a Sunday when Service Centre Closed and by a person i know that decades back was the local contractor / tech for Clocking back Taxis and Fleet hire cars.
  31. The quality of all cars goes down year on year. Look carefully before buying a Renault, some are still Ok and some are rubbish.
  32. Like the Evri last mile drivers, who have to use their own mode of transport along with many other courier companies who just rent a small warehouse and when the trunk truck arrives, the cages with parcels for that area are unloaded. The last mile drivers spend the morning sifting through the cages looking for postcodes for their routes and then spend time loading them into their cars etc in the order of drops. Most of their cars / vans are old beat up things as they can't afford to buy anything new, they only get paid peanuts per item and hence you hear of some drivers chucking packages over garden gates etc in order to deliver a few more parcels for that extra income. Less than ideal.
  33. Maybe, but you can also substitute laden for towing, eg, tradesman will not only be carrying the materials for the days work but also a quite likely a heavy kit out of tools and standard items such as large drums of cables, etc., as well as a couple of passengers. This is why I was saying we need people making these decisions who actually have some understanding of what is actually required and the conditions that these vans have to work under. I spent a few years working as assistant manager in an independent electrical wholesaler and had a few contractors who had national contracts for shop chains so had to frequently undertake trips of upto 500 to 600 miles in a day delivering all the items required for that particular shop. A BEV would not have even remotely suitable for that kind of work.
  34. Its had oil & filter changed and the oil pump checked, which was found to be working. Its been driven fine since the start of January. Thanks for the reply 😊
  35. That’s a shame. Mine has just clocked 10,000 miles absolutely no squeaks, knocks or rattles from anything.
  36. Change Cluster, Car dont Start anymore
  37. Yes. Our 2023 Sportline (2WD) has a factory-supplied spare wheel and 215/60 R16 tyre.
  38. The silica was supposed to increase the life of G13 coolant but ended up causing more damage than good due to the ruptures so was replaced with G12 EVO coolant
  39. When i hold the steering wheel and the car swerves and feels like loosing control or traction and when i release the steering wheel the car still does the same
  40. Not sure that's correct. There's a 215/60/16 available for 2WD without the variable boot floor option. So I would expect that the two foam surrounds would be different heights to match the different width wheels.
  41. I cover about 3k miles a month and over the winter period I probably refill it once every two weeks, this is usually before the low warning light comes on, but about 5 litres a month as a rough guide for me. Usage very much depends upon if you give a short or extended wash, I also give the rear screen a short wash just before I put it into reverse, not because the rear screen is dirty (I have a hatch) but it washes the rear camera at the same time.
  42. Being a bit whimsical today, but on the anniversary of my Mk4 turning 3, I thought I'd comment on how pleasurable and faultless this car has been since the day I collected it 3 years ago. It has genuinely given me nothing to complain about at all. No faults, knocks, rattles, creaks, no performance or system issues. In fact the only minor thing I can think of was the mirror USB socket slipping back into the casing when connecting a dashcam, which I fixed easily. Overall, this car is a calm and relaxed place to be, very comfortable on long journeys and I just enjoy getting behind the wheel. The turbo TSI is smooth and responsive, pulls from the mid range to overtake as quickly as any of my dinosaur V8's from the old days. The 8 speed Aisin auto is perfectly mated, and I have to say much smoother than the DSG in my previous Golf. Given that forums like this are usually used to report or seek help with faults and other issues, maybe I've been lucky, but based on my own experience I feel the Mk4 deserves a positive review. My car gets looked after meticulously, and it seems to be doing the same for me. Looking forward to the next 3 yrs and beyond, I have no intention of swapping it despite being badgered by the dealer every 5 mins to trade in and update!

My rear offside loses 5 psi a week, brand new tyres and valves. I have but weighing the cost and utter hassle due to location, Ebay or any wheel place with delivery, seems cheaper.
  44. Thought i would post mine up few people might know it. My first car bought it from a main dealer a week after passing my test in October 2016 so my first drive in a car on my own was driving it back from Southampton to Glasgow with a couple of stop offs on the way. The car was the perfect spec, 2014 model with Maxidot, Amusden + , Red Seats, Underseat storage, Multi function steering wheel, Rear Parking sensors,ESP and Climate Control. Dealer also fitted Cruise Control, Arm Rest and rubber mats all round Car started off looking like this. From picking it up it was drove straight to Funk Motorsport in London and the fogs/drls were tinted yellow with Lamin-X. Then After that to Awesome GTi in Manchester who put it on the Rolling Road and to my surprise it didn't make the claimed 103bhp and 184 lb fts, It actually made 114.5bhp and 201.8 lbs ft, While there i also picked up a 25mm H&R Rear Anti Roll bar, Audi R8 oil cap , Porsche Coolant cap and TT Jacking points. Then when i got it home i fitted a red TDi badge that i had ordered for the front Next was one of my favourite modifications Nitrogen Gas Bonnet Struts, Keep forgetting others don't have them so i've found a few i've opened the bonnet on my mates montes or vRS's and let them go expecting them to rise up like mine but they just slam back down lol. Then went off to visit a mate to get some pictures with his fabia Then the following day it was off to take part in the Glasgow to Monte Carlo Rally. Then also a quick stop off here on the way back Next fitted was the Autolight kit with a Mk1 Yeti switch so all the lights stay skoda green Next was Briskoda Number plate holders when fitting the fronts i found that the dealer ignored the 4 pre drilled holes and thought they would make 2 more Thankfully they used the holes for the back but the plastic bungs couldn't be screwed in again so had to replace those Also some Skoda tyre caps Next thing was the popular sunglasses holder mod Then Team Heko Wind Deflectors Next was the big thing for me, New wheels, after long consideration i decided on MK1 Octavia vRS Spiders which i'm so glad i went with as they really set off the car. Then the bad luck started First 2 lots of punctures Dead Battery And what i thought was a fuel leak turned out to be the air con leaking Also wrapped the stereo surround Then started the LED Conversation Started off with number plates from Halfords DRLs Twenty20's Autobeam Interior kit Autobeam LED fog lights with Halfords 6k Sidelights Autobeam LED Red Tail lights (only LEDs in the car that bring up a bulb error) give it a nice deep red look. Autobeam chrome indicators (these aren't led but will be changed to led in the future as autobeam have just brought out ones that dont need resistors) Techmac LED Headlights with Lush lightings adaptors Also have currently on the way Autobeam LED red brake lights, white reverse light , Red rear fog light. And the most recent H&R 40mm Lowering Springs Very happy with how it looks and drives just now, In the future it will get Bilstien Shocks, CR177 turbo with an S3 intercooler Darkside Hardpipe kit and hopefully get over the 200bhp mark. 45. The DSG does learn to a certain extent, but you are wise to walk away. For example after completing a 1000 mile round trip towing a twin axle car trailer the DSG in both my current Karoq and mh previous Touran would change down sooner, and after a few days would revert to normal behaviour. I dread to think what driver style had caused a DSG to learn to judder!
  46. Wondering if the oil pressure sensor is failing? or perhaps a bad connector. Seems very odd that there are no fault codes plus warning has disapeared. Hopefully just a coincidence or blip. Alasdair
  47. Still I don't think this 3rd party infotaiment are off any good

  49. Hi, Protection of the rear bumper as this one: https://www.kopacek.com/fr/skoda/superb-iii/superb-iii-combi-rear-bumper-protective-panel-from-martinek-auto-design-vv-basic or this one: https://www.kopacek.com/fr/skoda/superb-iii/superb-iii-combi-rear-bumper-protective-panel-from-martinek-auto-glossy-black Mud flaps? Quite useful on a white Estate. In addition to picture thread, you could have a look to VCDS modification list:
  50. You can change the Auto Hold setting with VCDS to have an « early brake release », when you start. I´ve done this mod and it makes the car much smoother... 😉
