ECP prices for parts, I've found that at least for some parts, you should check the Halfords price, I don't have anything other than the free "motoring" membership, and many times I've found Halfords to be much cheaper than ECP - which is where Halfords use to supply their ordered car parts. Maybe not in this case though, but always worth checking before placing an order.

I've just remembered that the "safety data ref" on the labelling of both these products are different, so must be a significant "chemical makeup" between them.

It definitely isn’t every 2 years in NZ. I want to say 45,000km but don’t quote me. I have the prepaid servicing for 5 years. It’s included in that but not in the 3 year one from memory

Just replaced cylinder 4 with a £13 Bosch 0250403009 direct from Amazon. It was a Bosch 0250403007 that came out. Looks like Beru (another OEM) go for around £100 on ebay for the pressure sensing one. Bosch seem to be around £135. I find ECP expensive these days, even with an essential code/deal. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/336472172965 Bosch seem to be around £135, but I see a full mixed set for £140: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/286741811628 I soaked it in wd40 for a few days then got the engine to temp at removal. I might just have been lucky, but once it cracked, it was finger tight.

FYI: If you're updating a MEN2 unit and the firmware SD card is being rejected with an "SD/card reader error", try starting the update from the extended setup/service menu instead of using the normal "Update software" option under Setup. On my 2019 Skoda Fabia with MEN2_EU_SKGPx_P7381L / MU 8740 / HW 690, the SD card worked perfectly for playing MP3 files, but the normal software update menu kept reporting an SD/card reader error. The solution was to press and hold the SETUP button for about 5 seconds to enter the extended setup menu and start the firmware update from there. The exact same SD card and firmware files were then detected correctly, and the update to MEN2_EU_SKGPx_P0080L / MU 8755 completed successfully. The update also appears to have fixed my CarPlay audio crackling/distortion, which previously started after about 30–40 seconds of playback. Hopefully this saves someone else from repeatedly reformatting SD cards or assuming their card reader is faulty.

I believe traffication is subscription service, free for first year. If I recall correctly I think it cost £4.50 per year and you pay for it through the ŠKODA app. Look under PROFILE -> PAID SERVICES

00883 is I think is an ignition switch problem. it could be the switch behind the barrel that has failed. Read that there is part of the switch that senses when key is in ignition that is prone to failing. It could also be loose bad connection at switch. Check the fuses near battery for corrosion/loosness as well. Alasdair

When the technician changes the air filter the lifting off the lid puts leverage on the pipe which connects pcv valve to the manifold. It breaks off. When my roomster was serviced I warned the service manager about this and lo behold it was broken

That's what should happen with a healthy system. (Apart from the lumpy idle).

It might be the PCV, hard to say on modern engines.

Normal road. As suggested could just be a case of cleaning camera area on windscreen.

E13. Thanks, according to last year's Skoda Dealer check list, the air filter was replaced at 6 years - but clearly the new garage must have thought it needed doing again. Maybe it gets dusty at the edge of the East End of London. The spark plugs have been renewed once, 3 years ago I recall and due again next year (when car will be 8yrs old). My garage man wonders if this will be necessary - in his experience - in view of my limited 7,000miles per year, with at least half being long distance, but he said it's up to me, so if you and others think they should be changed, I'll insist. I've checked the Skoda parts listing that I use/trust and, for a 2020MY Octavia, if the car is 5E - L - 000 001 > then VAQ fluid is specified as being G 060 175 A2 If the car is NX - L - 000 001 > then VAQ fluid is specified as being G 065 175 A2. I'm not a Skoda Octavia owner so the model designation doesn't mean much to me - but it will do to you.

After some 18 months of use, my wireless Android Auto link has died. It wuld connect automatically to the my phone in my pocket. The car will not read my phone when it is conected directly to the USB port either. Smatlink/Android Auto/CarPlay all seem fine on my OBDII I am suspecting the Amundsen or USB port itself. Any suggestions where to look next

The two Haldex fluids that I have ended up with, are VW Group G 060 175 A2 and VW Group G 65 175 A2. I was buying fluid online for a 2019 SEAT Leon Cupra VAQ, SEAT listed G 60 175 A2 - but my seller sent out G 65 175 A2, now I think that he assumed that the "G 65" version superceeded the earlier "G 60" version as it turned out that VW quote the "G 65" version for similar aged VW Golf when it has a VAQ. In the end I got a refund and bought the "correct for that car" version. Checking on many sites I found nothing to confirm that, but, I discovered that the Febi offering does claim to meet with both these VW Group Haldex fluids - so how important that is I can't say, for my money, I'd prefer to buy the version that is listed for "that" model of car.
