I hope you are all sitting down. The answer, none of the above. 5,5 months Just over £2k spent 7 Technicians inc 3 master techs with combined 110 years of experience. Every single f**ker telling me it's normal, it's how they sound. They are loud engines. Yeah, sure. This was only fuelling my ridiculous perseverance. This was my genuine and last attempt at this, today, before part-exing the car. The solution was inspired by my friends story. Story, which is beyond ridiculous and impossible and I'm not asking you to believe his story. Not that long ago he was sorting a timing chain on his S3 using only genuine parts. And before you say, oh, for sure he did something wrong. He didn't. What he doesn't know it's not worth knowing. The actual number of attempts it's ridiculous so all I will say is that it was more than 2. Eventually, a good friend of ours dropped of an aftermarket parts to him and yeah, you guessed it, or not, car was fixed. Between my last post and today, I also preformed another smoke test, intercooler bypass, Racingline Diverter valve with double the amount of seals and more VCDS diagnostics. How I approached this last attempt is this. For every problem you will have a list of items to test. All got ticked. Then a number of extra items was added to the list. All got ticked. Back to square one and this is where I got "inspired" by my friends timing chain issue. I replaced the PCV valve, again. Car fixed !!! Now, I need you to stop for a minute and just think what is happening here, because I don't believe for a second that both examples are isolated and when nothing makes sense, unfortunately, these days, you have to stop and question the quality of the genuine parts. Remember, back in February, Skoda dealer, replaced my original PCV with a genuine one. I ordered, same part number, same manufacturer (Kengst) genuine VAG PCV made in the same country to fix this. And no, no pinched seal or cracks or damage or whatever else may come to your mind. As I said, due to the "state" of the motor industry, when you tried everything and nothing makes sense, you've got to consider the fact that the genuine brand new part you just fitted was faulty before it has left the factory. >>>>>>> For ADMIN / MODERATOR consideration <<<<<<<<<< Please consider making this post sticky or make a new thread, I don't care. I genuinely don't wish anyone to go thru the bull**** I went thru especially when your car is under warranty and you don't want to void it, which is why I made sure to source identical PCV with 2025 date on eBay for 70quid, new. Same PN and everything. 5 months of stress, head scratching, nearly loosing my mind and a £2000 bill on top of that....all while having a Skoda Warranty and 110 years of experience between the master techs. Skoda dealer showed me another 2.0 TSI Kodiaq with identical issue, no fault codes, whistling and whooshing, which they deemed as normal, meaning the owner is simply unaware that he is driving a car with a fu*ked PCV. No faut codes, no abnormal data log = the dealer will stamp it as "normal behaviour". Thank you for all your suggestions and take care.

Welcome. Is this The Skoda Dealership or an Independent in Stirling? So is it a 1.2TSI? When were the Spark Plugs replaced? Have they not been inspected? I would expect they were since a borescope done. Did they look OK and not changed? Can we assume the Air Filter has been checked and is clean? PS. Just nosy, is it E10 Unleaded you use. Just there have been plenty with issues with Fuel since the Iran situation. What Petrol do you buy?

2014 Fabia TSI 94,000 miles. Few weeks ago came out from work and engine mgmt light went on. No issue for good nr of miles but then misfire started accelerating / hills. Then misfiring on idle quite badly so got it to garage. They borescoped / pressure tested and reckoned some carbon cylinder 4 pressure 80 so said valve job - £2k estimate. Drove it home to ponder - all misfire gone! - for 3 weeks. Interwebs thinks got lucky and bit of carbon causing loose valve seal dislodged. This time much less misfire - but there in 3/4 esp with hill but no idle misfire. Driving and this time ESC / ESP / TMPS lights - with bigger judder - but these clear with engine switch on / off and smooth drive except accelerating 3/4 gear. Have booked in for review. Garage think because under load its the valve. Interwebs thinks this time more likely ignition related - spark plug cables, spark plug, coil pack, maybe dirty throttle or sensor fault. Thoughts appreciated!

Could be failed turbo seals and oil is ending up in intercooler plus being burnt . Check its not full of oil. Had similar on old volvo. Seals failed and was burning oil and intercooler was pretty full. Used to smoke like mad after idling for a while. Alasdair

If it helps, I found someone who logged their TSI here The OP also had some issues, but claimed that during the logging, the engine worked fine and values look OK.. so it should provide some data for reference.

Welcome to the forum. Is it a 1.5 TSI ACT Front Wheel drive? If a DQ381 then according to Skoda /VW it is at 80,000 miles and the filter not til 2nd service & 160,000 miles. But best go with 40,000 miles, and the filter then and at each service. AI has it wrong according to the VW Group Schedule but for once wrong for the better. IMO.

Need advice on dsg service schedule for my KODIAQ SE DRIVE TSI S-A 2021 plate

^^^ & they do Premium, Performance & Racing car oils as well as perfectly good regular oil.

It has changed with the 1.5 TSI. Can be Fixed or Variable / Flexible. 18,000-20,000 miles / 24 months. (But if running mainly on Electric and seldom firing up the engine best stay on fixed.) DQ400-e DSG is an Oil & Filter change at 40,000 miles or sooner.

Same happened on my Octavia but in my case actuator was sticking and causing overboost randomly. I lubricated it and its been fine since.

If its any help I have been using comma oil for years from tractor/forklifts to fabia/octavia and many more cars. Never had a problem and it lasts. Generally a reasonable price and readily available. Alasdair

Hi We got 2024 kamiq on Saturday. Husband tinkering with infocenter settings and somehow he has managed to delete the navigation button on the infocenter display. We used android auto to drive home but would like the option to use the skoda navigation is case the phone is stolen or lost. I have spent all morning trying to get it back but have had no luck. . I have tried going to the widgets but no nav shows to add. Tried forgetting phone just in case this overrides anything but that didn't work. Any suggestions gratefully received Many thanks

Hi, When I drive for about 10 minutes at 230 km/h, the oil temperature goes up to 137 °C with an outside temperature of 26 °C. In my opinion, the oil temperature is still quite high when I compare it to my Passat B8 2017 with the same engine. I also noticed that the ECU is reducing the speed when the oil temperature goes above 135 °C. I think there is still an issue with the oil temperature, but I can live with the current situation because nobody drives at over 230 km/h for a long time with diesel prices these days. On a normal drive between 150–180 km/h, the oil temperature does not exceed 120 °C. Based on the input I got from other forums and Facebook groups, the problem could be related to one of the following: - Oil cooler - Dirt in the radiators between the AC radiator and the coolant radiator, where the shutters were. In the future, I will probably clean the radiators and change the oil cooler when I change my oil next time. I will give feedback if I make progress with these.
