You make it sound simple, but it isn't. Even with a car right in front of me I can't always accurately diagnose a problem because modern engines have become so complex and so many systems have complex interactions which are not easily separated from each other. Back in the old days you could say, "it's the ignition" because there was no spark then break it down further and eliminate components until the problem was found. Imagine how much harder it is doing this remotely where your eyes and ears are a person five thousand miles away who has no experience to draw upon and very few tools or skills and often cannot even articulate themselves properly in English.

It was simply frustration, I think. The OP has bought a car that's turned out to have faults that are proving difficult and expensive to fix. Very, very few of the people trying to help others on here are professional mechanics, so it shouldn't be surprising that not all of the suggestions are 'expert'. No-one here is getting paid anything for trying to help, so it seems unfair to criticise their attempts, @lalwong. I agree that the forum would be a much better problem solving resource if every question asked had a proven, documented solution, but unfortunately, once a problem is solved, most people simply get on with their lives rather than going back to write the solution for the benefit of others. Every forum is the same, and it's impossible to force people to 'complete' their threads. Many more serious problems may actually never be solved too, the car being sold or scrapped instead.

All of us are here on our own time, offering what we can from personal or professional experience. A lot of us lead busy lives and have to ration our time accordingly: once our car works again we move on with our lives. That's just reality. Even just finding the post after a week or two is a pain as it'll have disappeared way down the pages in that time. Sure it would be good to come back and post again if we can, but no-one has a right to expect it on a forum like this. Diagnosing problems in a complex engineered system is challenging even if you have hands on access and know what you're doing. As others have noted, the actual source of the problem can be far removed from where the symptoms pop up. Diagnosing over the internet based on limited information provided by a non-expert (as most owners are, no shame in it) is more challenging still. Then you have to deal with all sorts of cognitive biases that humans are blessed with in trying to unravel what might be going on. If you get a solid lead on your problem after posting it here, you're doing pretty well. I get the OP's frustration, but coming in with a thread title like that and demanding more from people who are probably already doing their best to help you out isn't cool. You catch more flies with honey

okay, i thought from the title this was going to be about some dodgy back street garage defrauding people by claiming to do work that isnt done, or some such thing. i still dont see what the warning is? if someone cant by internet magic instantly diagnose an issue from a description like "its making a strange noise when i do 'x' " are you going to come to their house and slash their tyres?? thats seems abit extreme. cars are complex. an issue can give a symptom that isnt easily related to the cause. eg my front window wipers wouldnt turn off on my old mk1 octy because of water ingress in the rear wash motor. the rear wiper and wash worked perfectly.... and the front end was fine on its own, but with both fuses in the back was grand and the front wouldnt stop. is that a directly related issue? nope. so it could take several examinations and tests to track it back to the cause in front the car nevermind over the internet. bit unnecessary to give out to everyone for not being magicians...
  5. tesla make clear that the cruise and autopilot are only to be used on motorway or dual carriageway so no way it should be in use on the roads Bjorn video shows :-) Mine did it again on the M6 last week, I was driving in lane 2 at 70mph and then bam, I was at 40 mph and a Mercedes Sprinter van had to swerve to avoid me. He was obviously a Tesla fan though as he was waving in a very excited manner as he went past me.

The post by @shyVRS245 is very relevant to the title of the thread. Current news story.

It does help when an OP does say where the vehicle being asked about is, or where used, simply because there are differences globally in the environment, temperatures. then the models sold their, drive trains and fuels. If reading a post on a phone members might not even see the car model, engine, country etc.
  8. Speaking with Car Dealership employees is not a guarantee of speaking with someone that knows the brand that they are a salesperson for. Maybe until recently they were selling white goods or fast foods. 2016-2017 Yeti are Euro 6. Diesels with SCR are Euro 6. (They had to be after late 2015)
  9. @dankatar The sunroof came on the demo Sportline that I bought four years ago. It has a sliding window shade that acts as additional sound insulation. I have not been aware of any noise coming from the roof. I have not had any leaks or problems of any sort. On the days when it's fair enough to open the sunroof, it's very pleasant up to about 40-50 mph. On other days, it's nice just to have the shade to let the sun in. I wouldn't have specified it myself, but I'm glad I have it.

Mine isn't single walled, so the silica bag can't be accessed easily. That's why I will replace the tank.
  12. update. although I have had it confirmed that my dpf has a high level of soot and ash it seems this was not my problem. the charge cooler on front of engine is completely blocked, how i managed to drive with it in that state is beyond me. The Dpf Doctor removed it and tried to clean it but being so blocked no fluid passed through it what so ever so I have purchased one from ebay that appears to have been deep cleaned already arriving to tomorrow, fingers crossed.
  13. Does anyone else with the Led headlights have serious issues with the auto dip and main beam function?? I know I can do it manually but I want to use it when I have it, especially when it works flawlessly on our 2014 Seat Alhambra with halogen lights. The main issues I’m finding are that the car fails to recognise oncoming traffic and also the taillights of cars in front. When rolling hills are thrown into the mix etc it really does not work at all. It constantly dips for cars and will then put the main beam on before they have passed blinding them. It’s really really annoying, dangerous, and as mentioned our Alhambra doesn’t fail once ever!! Has anyone else suffered issues like this and did they find a fix? Dealer no use and car out of warranty period.
  14. Not quite. Adblue is an additive that is injected into the exhaust system from a tank, that in the Yeti is below the boot floor, and that needs to be filled about every 5k miles. The engine tells the system how much to inject. I ran a 140 for 6 years and a 150 for 5 years, and the 150 was a far nicer car. It was easily averaging 50mpg+ and was much more responsive. I had no Zinc inclusions and no rust. I only got rid as we were no longer doing the type of journeys suited to a diesel and this caused the N0x sensor to fail. We've now gone down the Kia Niro self charging hybrid route, but if Skoda had made a suitable hybrid I would not have changed manufacturers.
  15. I’m watching this because I retrofitted OEM ones, but are definitely brighter than the stock ones on the facelift model.
  16. I'm pretty sure James is suggesting the DC-DC adaptor in the hardwire kit could be causing interference, not that you need to start replacing things. A good starting point would be to unplug it's fuse to see if that helps improve things.

Post update. Got new clutch kit fitted inc. release bearing and slave cylinder and changed the gearbox oil. Clutch kit and fitting (inc. changing gearbox oil) was £380. Got 2 litres of gearbox oil from Opie oils for £26.00. TPS were £32.00 per litre. Clutch lovely and light now but no change to biting point. Still low down. Garage said only other thing is the master cylinder, which are known to fail, but very rarely. They also said the clutch action and gearchange are superb, which they are, and would be happy to live with it as is, so that's exactly what I'm gonna do. Probably being over fussy and that clearly is where the biting point is. Not sure if I notice any difference with the new gearbox oil, but at least it's done so peace of mind there. Otherwise the car is fantastic. As smooth and virtually as quiet as any of my past Jags. Looks the nuts too.
  18. Sadly I have to advise my retirement from Superb ownership and this list as my faithful company car has now been replaced, somewhat later than expected, by a shiny new Octavia. 4 years, 10 months and 1 week with negligible issues, if my company car budget had stretched enough I would have had another in a heartbeat....maybe in 3 years time I'll be back! Below is the last photo of my Superb (I took a lot!), and first of the Octy...

@Stubod See page 5 of this thread, @pinkpanther has an S-Cross & a Yeti. Then @Lady Elanorehad a Suzuki Vitara diesel and i think now has a Hyundai.
  20. The first reply by PetrolDave on Dec 5th was pretty spot-on then. No air getting to the engine through the intercooler.
  21. Get a reflection of the chrome trim on the air vents on both side windows going across the door mirrors. Hasn't really bothered me, but can see it will annoy some owners.

Probably not - the ID.3s currently being delivered are having huge software updates (over 8 hours) with an even bigger software update already scheduled for February. VAG are definitely using customers (not only ID.3 but also Golf 8 and Octavia IV) as alpha/beta software testers
  23. Both company cars, so not my money . To be fair I was hoping to have returned the wonderful Superb in better condition but a combination of bad weather and car-washes being closed put pay to that!
  24. I get the feeling Lucid have just leapfrogged them big style... Home | Lucid Motors They reckon their powertrain is 2.5 times more compact than others of similar outputs...
  25. Thank you all for your help. I've been in touch with Lookers Stockport and got the following info. I bought the car new on 26th Sept with 20 miles on the clock. Lookers told me that it was first registered at the end of 2019 so the oil change is due regardless of the mileage (450) on the clock now. I've booked in for the service later this week.
  26. Silver and those alloys really suit the Mk4.
  27. 09/10 winter? Yep it was certainly fun. Just not sure I want a repeat of it! A few more pics. D3 was in offroad height!

Perhaps @lalwongwants to be a moderator because they like to issue warnings. I understand his point and I try to give advice based upon my personal experiences.
  29. Surely if it wasn’t deemed necessary then the bean counters would have replaced it with something simpler and cheaper.
  30. Hi All, Coming from an Abarth Grande Punto recently purchased a Skoda Octavia TSI VRS MK3 with dsg. Car had 92k miles on it and I have already reached 93k in the space of a week 9 days. Car has been faultless and a completely different world from the Abarth in comfort, refinement, practicality (HUGE BOOT) and sheer pace. Already done a major service, dsg service, four new p-zero tyres and rear discs/pads (they were looking a bit sorry for themselves!). Looking forward to putting many more miles on the car and can see that I'll be keeping for the foreseeable. Anyway pictures below and off to the forums!

  32. I have a Superb MY18 with KESSY, does anyone know if it's possible to buy the updated KESSY with motion sensor to replace the units originally supplied with the car, which lack the motion sensor? Thanks!

  34. If that's true on VRS Kodiaq I will be changing to a Cupra Formentor and back to the Golf R motor then thanks. Is cheaper than the current Kodiaq VRS in NZ by $4k too and all you lose is a bit of room by the looks of the specs. I seriously doubt the Enyaq VRS will be affordable or good value for what it is over here.
  35. Thanks. Today I managed to get the trim by the load lip as well as everything on the boot floor out. Took out all the visible screws on the side walls. There's quite a bit to go -- the side luggage compartment trim panels needs to come off, which seems to require taking the back seats off. I am unable to figure out how to remove the hard top variable floor. More tomorrow.
  36. I agree to an extent. There's difference to my mind, between classifying a risk as an inattentive/distracted driver caught doing 33 in a 30 and a deliberste white knuckle chase overtaking on double white lines at 95 on A roads. By the same token my last wife had multiple low speed careless crashes, including tearing the back door off my 6 week old pride and joy, yet when we separated (not because of the crashes! ) my premiums went up , because I wasn't married on a joint policy... I did try explaining but was ignored as single men are a higher risk. I tried explaining that they'd now be paying out less money on crash damage, to no avail. Bonkers !
  37. Just tonight on my way home it flashed full beam at two oncoming cars after it had dipped and then wouldn’t dip for another. To me it’s totally useless and I also disagree with the comment re the higher spec camera as our Alhambra is a basic SE spec without dab and it works flawlessly.
  38. Since sealing the small gaps in the seal corners, plus treating all seals with Gummi Pflege, the car has been sat in very heavy rain and I've done a couple of long trips on wet roads. I haven't had a recurrence of the problem. Here's hoping it stays that way. Thanks for all the advice and suggestions.
  39. I think the general compression of the engine is enough to stop/slow the car. If it would cause issues with hydraulic tensioners then maybe the default advice should be to put it in the direction of the hill? Along with pointing the wheels at the curb you should be golden.

Definately take it out - save yourself a world of pain later on. Warranty won't be effected.
  41. Rusty looks so good on track! And in great company. Photos by https://www.instagram.com/haydouken/ Hope he doesn't mind me lifting the shadows slightly to bring out the rear end details on Rusty!

  43. Well I've had a productive day went to Dpf Doctor in Glasgow this morning and after 3 hours they confirmed my dpf is full of soot but may not be my main problem as my Charge Cooler is badly blocked and as its only £165 suggested replacing it so Monday we will see if my problems are solved. for a fraction of the £2650 skoda quoted for a different part

  47. Hi Dharry, I had mine serviced by local VAG specialist in North East last month, saved a quite a bit of coin compared to main dealer quote. Digi service all updated and reset.
