  1. Not sure you understand how a clutch works as what you said makes no sense, the original poster is correct in his assumption, I do find however that the hydraulic system in these cars do have quiet a high biting point. It may sound obvious but get the clutch bled out again, if you need to push the pedal to the floor to disengage the clutch it sound like air in the system, if the biting point is a bit random also suggests air in the system making it inconsistent.
  2. Love the sunflowers, Beefy. We've been growing some, and one of them grew weird at the top making it look heart shaped. We have lots of bees on our ball thistles (echinops?) as well

I received my first piece of positive news today since November- a build date of Week 36 which is 3 weeks away 👌🏻 1.5TSI manual SEL Hatch

Anticipation builds as soon as I enter the number, but all goes downhill as nothing happens 😉 I got some info from dealer this morning - new cars are arriving on daily basis so not much longer now. Fingers crossed
  5. Well that was all surprisingly easy... Flashed the DCC module: Uploaded the Passat dataset (closest in size, weight and wheelbase to the Octavia): I already had my CAN gateway dataset from when I updated the firmware to support automatic colours per driving mode. Tweaked it as per the drive2 instructions I posted previously along with MQB-FPA. Uploaded the dataset: Cleared all the error codes, rebooted the headunit and was greeted by this: VCDS confirmed via measuring blocks the active DCC profile changed from 1 to 15 with the slider and that eco/comfort/normal/sport had sensible values. Took it for a 2 minute drive and everything feels to be working normally, happy days! Massive thank you to @ApertureS for the dataset
  6. So......I've got a 69 plate Skoda Karoq 2.0TDI 4x4, now done around 30k miles in the car and wanted to share a few experiences with those thinking of buying one. The Good One the road the car has been spot on. Nice to drive, good level of comfort and never a moment where the car has missed a beat or got into a pickle which could have had consequences. It's also pretty economical with the trip computer often suggesting that I've averaged 47 or 48mpg between tank refills, but also could do with more 'ooomph' for overtaking. So overall on that front, yeh its not been a bad motor at all. The bad Brakes - in 30+ years of motoring, 10+ brand new cars and 15+ nearly news of all multiple makes, models, values and configurations....this is the first car ever where at sub 20k miles the dealer has said that the car needed new discs and pads at the front. Typically I'd normally expect 45k to 50k miles before they even get a mention, but on the Karoq less than 20K. The dealer could not explain why, I told them that I could.....and it could only be quality of the components being significantly lower. There are no other explanations, as everything else is pretty much the same including other 4 wheel drives which still went 40K+ miles before brakes needed a mention. Anyway.....a quick £377 earner for Skoda just for the front changing. Just a little less for the rear I expect. Door Locks - yes I'm one of the many who has been locked out of the Karoq whilst their keys were inside as was my mobile phone......and blocking someone's driveway as I nipped out to open their gates. 3 hrs of life lost, and an damage waiver signed whilst the AA guy prised down the side of the door and went fishing for my keys. When I asked Skoda, why did I personally need to sign an damage waiver when it was Skoda's product at fault and failing whilst under warranty. Hence what other option existed for me at the time? Anyway, responsibility deflected towards the owner of the faulty product, rather than the creator of the fault. 2 faulty door locks now ordered, and set to be replaced. Get yours checked before your warranty expires!! Alloys - Yes, I also have black Diamond Cut alloys and all 4 have the dreaded white worm where the outer lacquer is flaking off. The two rear have been proposed by the dealer to Skoda Warranty for replacement, and the two front are a sore topic because of slight stone chips are a 'get out clause' where Skoda warranty will reject the claim......even though the stone chips are absolutely no where near the area of the white worm flakey area, warranty invalidated. As I explained to the dealer in comparison......if the front of the wing had stone chips why would this invalidate a claim of rust on the rear of the same wing? Panoramic Sunroof - Who would have known that after 2 years they want to give it a service. I can't remember the quote but it was getting on towards £300. I bet I haven't opened it more than a dozen times, that's nearly £25 per go, not a chance of me paying £300 for a sunroof service. Another hidden cost not mentioned when buying the car and as tight Yorkshire man I did ask when buying! Service intervals - When I bought the car from new I specifically asked to be put on the long life (approx 20k miles) service. But no....got to 9k and the lights were calling me in for and oil change some more spend. Again I asked to be changed onto the long life, as per my original request. But no, got to 19K and the lights were calling me in again......no need to tell you which lights are now showing once again at 30k. Key Fob Batteries - Yes they don't really last much beyond 6 months, and they often show no signs of a fading battery.....just a dead battery at the most inconvenient time and place. And if you believe Skoda they insist the replacement battery must be one of their own....not a Duracell, Energizer .....only a Skoda Battery will do. Complete cods wallop ofcourse!! DAB Radio - It is the least capable DAB tuner that I've ever experienced. I get less than half the stations which I do in my other car parked right next door to each other on the same drive way....and it doesn't improve on the move either. The Ugly Amongst the many cars that I have previously owned there have been at least 6 or 7 brand new Skoda's in the past since my first in 2002. The big draw towards giving Skoda a chance around 2002 was the then JD Power Surveys and claimed customer care. No quibbles, they wanted and appreciated your business and this was reflected in their regular top 10 places. Sadly not any more, and they seem to do anything and everything to make money out of each existing client and sadly product quality has slipped massively. I live around 1hr away from the Skoda dealer, so each time I go there I lose a minimum of 4hrs if they can't do the work whilst I wait (there & back to drop off...there and back for collection too). Each time they need the car for a day before ordering warranty replacement parts, and of course you then have to come back again ............thus time doubles due to the return visit for fitting or rectifying. The car owes me 20 or 30 hrs, of time that I've simply not had to give during the ownership of any other car. I work for myself, so as annoying as this is, I can find the time. However, for those who don't have this flexibility I really feel for you, because sadly you'll need to give your Skoda dealer lots of time and money during your ownership. I can't see there being another Karoq for me on the horizon anytime soon....perhaps not even another Skoda either. Somewhere out there is another hungry car maker who appreciate their clients much more than Skoda currently do, with quality to match also.

Take a look at this thread... it seems to have ben moved to part of the personalisation options in newer vehicles
  8. Our 2016 280 did exactly this last year and it was a failed rear wheel speed sensor.
  9. Honestly, hard to tell as it's a very subjective thing... I'd probably say it's a little softer and harder than before but I don't think there is much in it, especially as I'd typically be in normal previously so I don't have a decent baseline. I've tried a few settings today and settled about half way between normal and sport. I was hoping for more granularity rather than being able to set it softer or harder so I'm happy at that
  10. Welcome @Zakpaddy... unfortunately I think the lack on answers probably reflects a lack of knowledge of faults of this kind. Personally, I'd just be taking it to the dealer to sort out, especially if it is still within warranty.
  11. Any guess we make will sadly be just a guess. it could be anything from a misaligned radar sensor to a wheel bearing to a parking sensor. the only way of leading you in the right direction is by plugging it into a diagnostic computer

I did also and i did get confimed production so i hope nothing else will go wrong.

Very good news . Mine is in Bulgaria as well . I will receive it maybe in the end of September because it’s company car. I hope to received it sooner I spoked with the lease company to bring back the Octavia earlier without fine .
  14. Do you have the value of the Tucson and a statement that they would honour that price no matter when your Octavia arrives in writing? If so then, in my opinion, you have a binding contract. If not then you will have to go through the Ts&Cs of any contract that you have signed.
  15. If you undo the check strap, you should be able to get the door open enough to get in with a long T45 bit. Can I ask what you're trying to achieve though because this hinge won't be easy to get back on or set.
  16. Something like this is what youll need. EDIT: Wrong part number Correct part number is 1Z5955985 which is the jet from the rear brake light It will be blocked up, its not worth cleaning for the price of it.
  17. Thanks Skomaz - all done. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
  18. Thanks for the replies .Tried out the suggestions and now working. Thanks again Guys.
  19. Can't be certain as I'm not near ours but thought there was an option accessed via Menu / Settings (gear wheel icon) / Time and Date?
  20. mines gone the same way. If i remember rightly think the pump is nackered!
  21. First check the earth connection for the lights in the boot.
  22. Yes, I did the reverse wiring mod which helped a lot with the bass and overall enjoyment. However still not as good as the Dynaudio. It certainly depends on the source as well.
  23. Thanks all, sporadic signal here so apologies for any delayed replies! Shame, I was hoping it’d be a quick ‘pull fuse X and it’ll reset’ job. Irritatingly my local dealer can’t fit it in to take a look at until 26th Sept, so when we’re back I’ll definitely try and find someone to give it a scan. @numskull hopefully it’s just that - at least it’s under warranty for now
  24. Glypton or autoglym, the former does smell really good (very strong leather smell) Usually 2-part, a cleaning (soap) solution followed by conditioner. Gentle application with a folded microfibre cloth, or MF sponge if you wish. Some soft nail brush if you must get some stubborn dirt off, but needs soft bristles. When dryed, you can then apply conditioner, and it will aborb in. Less = more, as too much and you will end up wiping off and therefore wasting money.
  25. Strongly agree, seatbelts are designed for one use (accident) only, - if a used belt has actually been subjected to the high loadings involved in a serious accident, the mechanism could possibly fail in a 2nd event. Of course it is possible that the used belt was not occupied during any accident - but there will be no way to determine this,

Hello Ajdolin, the best outside protection you can get is installing a paint protection film on the most vulnerable panels such as the front bonnet, the front bumper and both front wings. Based on your location you should find guys, which can install it. I will be doing exactly the same thing when I get my car. Tired of stone chips at the front end...😑 Here is an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTu-NgBdBhI
  27. Weird. Just to double-check, I’ve just switched it out of circuit and went for a drive and the initial depression lag where nothing happens has definitely gone in all settings. It was bloody awful to drive it again stock! 😂
  28. Well, as I've posted a lot over the last year and a half on various issues, especially ACC, I thought I'd better report that my dealer applied all the updates he could find for my car a couple of weeks ago, which has updated the level shown on the screen as 1896. He told me specifically that one of the fixes should cure the ACC problem (sometimes not passing slower traffic in a lane to my left). I've had a couple of weeks to test it now, including a round trip to the Lake District (from Hampshire) and a couple of more local motorway trips. So I've probably done at least 500 miles on motorways with ACC and can confirm that so far it has worked perfectly - at last. As others have reported, the Infotainment screen seems slightly more responsive too, a weird problem with Waze and Carplay has resolved itself (although that may have been a Waze update, I suppose) and so far no-one has flashed me when using the Matrix headlights on main beam, so I think they're working properly too. Furthermore, the Satnav now remembers favourites and recent destinations. I haven't had the SOS problem for a long time so I think that was fixed in an update earlier in the year. So, it seems that, although I would say there are many serious design flaws in the system, it is now at least working as designed. Thank goodness! One more thing, which may be my imagination. I have always found the noise generator annoying, so always a choose a drive mode that has it switched off. However, a few times recently when I haven't done so my impression has brrn that that noise generator is less intrusive, so I wonder if they've fine-tuned that a bit in the update?
  29. The fault does seem to imply electrical error, but could be a failed part causing it. I think it is referring to the fuel pressure sensor. Ideally you should edit your profile to add Model / Year / Engine details to assist any future help.
  30. I should add I bought genuine Skoda ones from Horton Skoda at £12 a piece. This was cheaper than places on eBay which were charging £15+ each. I plan to get them activated using VCDS soon.
  31. The cars 7 years old and a bit newer do not have GPS to tell them what is about to be demanded of them and they were engineered to give lower emissions when they can. There are Euro 6 models since 2015 that some might think are better or worse. Just wait until Euro 7 ones are out and see just how little choice the drivers have. Nice that now you can drop a gear or 2 and get a shift on and without electrification. The clutch packs will be just fine with the DSG.
  32. If you look up the parts on skoda.7zap.com you can click on the link and it will tell you who makes them. I'd normally research you a link but I'm working on.my phone and it's a bit challenging with my eyes ...
  33. @Gerrycan Checking if these cars can average 70 mpg is easy when the battery is charged up just once. You charge the battery to full and then see if for 10 gallons / 45.5 litres the car will go 700 miles. Or even 350 miles on just 23 litres on a brim to brim check. Petrol Hybrid Toyota or Hyundai / KIa are a whole different kettle of fish from a PHEV. Skoda even do a 1.0 /1.5 tsi MHEV. Easy enough to see the efficiency / mpg they can achieve compared to the more established ones from the other manufacturers. Hypermiling or just checking fuel use is common enough on this forum. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/503738-fuel-economy
  34. Oh wow, so released just after build date. That is brilliant thank you so much. Garage team have been brilliant, I appreciate that they just can't go chopping out units but could be the source of it...maybe. Again, thanks dude.
  35. This is just awesome! Thanks @ApertureS and @langers2k for pushing ahead with this and sharing! @langers2k how do the extreme comfort++ and sport++ setting feel compared to the stock settings?
  36. Mine does the same thing for CH/LH, but with foglights as well.
  37. Sudden battery voltage drop maybe? Should / could / might clear with short run.

Guys with VIN, try to add it to myskoda app. Once it accepts it, its ready to ship. Gave me a headsup before dealer knew anything.

I know that at least 4 Octavia's were delivered to my dealer this month.
  43. Apologies. Seems ive updated both flash versions in odx and xml. The 3rd one is dataset but for B version. Ive attached C version Arteon dataset as you need. 14-Arteon DCC 5q0907376C.xml Edit: Ive also attached a passat dataset 14_5Q0907376C_passat_.xml
  44. Not a good look and hopefully not carried out by a professional auto spark. If it was my car I would remove them and if still required, wired that new requirement in safely
  45. Press and hold the set button for a couple of seconds, then press the memory slot button (1, 2, 3) you want to store it to. There will be a bong to tell you it has been stored. To recall a memory, press and hold the 1, 2, or 3 button as required until the seat/mirrors have finished moving.
  46. On a return trip home from Cairnryan a couple of weeks ago, I got an average of 41.09mpg. Delighted with that.
  47. Stunning (and full) Moon this evening ...........
  48. Mine is finally in the UK just shy of 16 months from order. I've been told around 3 weeks from this point to me which seems far too long so I've told them to hold off until September so a grand total of 16 and a half months with the last couple of days at my request. But hey, at least it's in the right country 😅
  49. I have now changed the differential pressure sensor, MAF, map and reset all the values on vcds. Yes I reset the ash to 0 to observe when the DPF regen starts. It was on 5.0 when I got the car. I notice when I boot the car it happens but if I go slow the spike doesn't go up and the DPF acts normally. The other think I noted was when the spike in soot happens the injector values jump up as pictured. I have emailed the company and asked them to have the car fixed as it's not road worthy at present. The oil is becoming contaminated and it's doing 40mpg on a run which is awful. No reply from the garage but I'll report them to trading standards if they don't reply. Could the O2 sensor be at fault? When I got the car there was a leak between the turbo and cat which just needed the clamp tightening up as it was loose. Cheers for the replies guys
  50. It took me a couple of seconds to get it!! I must be a bit slow today.
