I picked mine up a couple of days ago. I'm enjoying it so far. Only real issues are a hesitant auto gearbox and slightly glitchy infotainment system. I hope all those of you who are still waiting receive some good news soon.

Hey, soon it’s celebration time 🎉🥳 My Octy arrived at the dealers today so picking it up next week as soon as I get the finances sorted. I might take Friday off for to enjoy the full experience 😊 Looks like this little fella is finally getting his key (bought it even before I ordered the car 😊)

Hi, Got some good news on Tuesday when I went in to dealer to sign papers and was told car was there! Picking it up on Tuesday, almost a year since ordering. Looks good - I'd forgotten what it looked like as there's none on the road that I ever see.

Ah, so my mind is not completely gone! I was sure there was a transmission column, and recently I wasn't finding it... On a different note: a few minutes ago I received an update for the car. It got customs clearance for transport to the dealer (so it's already in Romania); no idea how much time that will take, given the trucks&drivers shortage.
  5. Ah ok, i think i understand now. Thanks varooom! So if i've got this right, if i had AUTO enabled but A/C switched off then it's possible the temperature might never get cool enough on a hot day because AUTO can only control air vents/fan speed but wouldn't actively cool the air, is that right? And if i've got this right, then although having A/C enabled on a cold day doesn't stop the air being routed via heating elements, it's still useful because of the dehumidifying effect of the A/C unit? I guess then there's an argument that it makes sense being able to switch off A/C on cooler days as you're basically wasting energy cooling air only for it to be heated before the vent and unless misting up is an issue that seems wasteful. I think it all makes sense to me now - thanks!
  6. Spot on levels of Fabia Geekery right there! See here close up on mine.
  7. I’ve had my Octavia 1.5SEL First Edition for almost 2 years and 30k miles now and the leasing company wants it back. And I’m going to miss it! It took a little while to bond with it - SOS messages, screen blanks, rubbish radar cruise control and the occasional inability to adjust the interior temp didn’t help. But after a couple of visits to my local dealer (shout out to Mitchell Skoda near Chester - amazing bacon butties), it’s running pretty sweetly now. It’s just been so versatile. Lots of room, but not too big. Enough power, although it’s always nice to have more. And enough toys and tech to keep me entertained on longer journeys. And thank you to the blind spot warning for having better eyes than me on a couple of occasions. If I could rent another for the same price now, I would. It’s been used mainly on long journeys on A roads and motorways and it’s average consumption (worked out properly, not via trip computer) is….62mpg. Thank you 2 cylinder mode. What will I replace it with? Who knows? But whatever it is will be more expensive, probably have less features, less room and worse fuel consumption. Progress, eh?
  8. What's the point? If they don't have stock then they don't have stock...and no amount of ranting & raving by me will make their supplier deliver it any quicker.
  9. Quick review. Initial impressions of the vRS are good. It feels taught and sporty, mainly because of the firm steering, fake (Impreza-like) noise and the firm suspension. Only Individual mode lets you turn these fake noise off. I like it, but I think the constant burble would get tiring after a while. It is torquey and quite quick, probably quick enough for UK roads. I like the interior too. Modern and looks and feels good in places - see negatives below. Stereo okay too, but lacking punch, so I would always have Canton. Wireless CarPlay is great too. Also really like the digital cockpit. It feels like a positive evolution from the Mk2 and Mk3, and almost different enough to be two generations on (Mk5). Negatives - fake noise (as above), needs DCC, well-specced but no reverse camera. Feels a little plasticky inside - door cards and fake carbon on dash feel cheap. Doesn’t feel quite as well put together as my Mk2 did. The fake noise in sport mode makes the left front speaker / door card vibrate badly - in a 22 ‘plate car. Not a good sign regarding build quality. The stubby gear lever is a nice touch, but should have been metal, not plastic. Wind and tyre noise suggest minimal sound deadening. Compared to my Superb, the slightly smaller Octy is nicer to thread around my local country roads, but the Superb really isn’t much wider. The Superb 272 feels quicker (it should as it is more powerful and has AWD) and more refined inside to touch and in terms of noise. Overall though, the vRS is a lovely thing and perfect for a nippy family hold-all. For me, a Superb is the right car, but if I was in my 30s again, the vRS would probably be the one.
  10. DOHC. This is from an SSP for a very different engine, but I expect the arrangement is about the same mechanically:

Hello Youssef I loved owning my Mk3 Octy - such a versatile car Gaz
  12. Yes that looks too long to be out of a roller rocker and as Mike says the only other part that contains something like that is the crank spigot bearing and how would one of those make it in there? Hang on, they are two stuck together, they are out of a roller rocker.
  13. Bulb tell me the unit rate is going up 20% and the standing charge by a penny a day. If the government give me £67 a month for the next six months I'm better off than I was, cos that's much more than 20% of what I'm currently paying. This makes no sense.
  14. Close the window and release the switch then hold switch up again for about 5 seconds. This should reset the one touch operation and also reset the mirrors folding from a long press on the locking fob if the car is equipped with that.
  15. I've been paying £186 pm since June-ish time when I switched to Octopus. Got over £500 in credit last bill. Happy to see the same Email that they are taking £67 off my DD. I think I'm in pretty good shape for this winter, won't have huge bill changes. Before COVID, my DD was around £100. So less than double cost now plus 100% mileage now on electricity doesn't feel excessive at all. I'm happy to pay up to £200 pm. But it's sad to see "typical household" bills go from around £1000 to £2500. Not sure why my bill hasn't increased by similar percentage.......
  16. Keeping busy while waiting for the turbo to come back. First, pics of the wing and parcel shelf. Not one with netting unfortunately. Cleaned out the intercooler and piping to get all the dead turbo out Lots and lots of oil Everything's sitting drying now. Cleaned the intake manifold best I could. Lastly gave the front calipers a wire brush and paint. Rears need doing too.
  17. The attached photos may give you an idea of whats actually behind the dash panel to help visualize it. Happy fishing
  18. I'll give it a try 😄 1. Boot floor and under rear seat; less rumble overall 2. Doors; loose wiring rattles gone, plus firmer sound when closing 3. Wheel arches; less tyre/debris noise The total weight added is now at roughly 20kg.
  19. I think it's more likely do be stuck director flaps; 10 minutes of flapperobics might help.

After previously owning 670 and 695 I had to have another one. This one is 571. One owner and just 77k on the clock with full history and rare on an 08 plate. It has a Jabbasport rear anti roll bar fitted which is a nice addition. Needs some work to make mint but nothing too serious. First jobs were to clean and get Aircon serviced. I also fitted a new genuine headlamp as one was very cloudy. New style badges ordered as well. The ones on it now are hideous !
  22. The most logical answer to this is that the foreign object is stuck in the thermostat, stopping it from closing. In that case, your engine will be trying to get up to working temperature whilst the whole cooling system is trying to cool it down...
  23. Sounds like your missing bit of the waterpump might of found it's way to the thermostat and stopping it from closing off properly
  24. Ah! The inevitable sound of the soapbox climber!! (who also can't understand a simple statement) I didn't hit a pothole, I hit a rock. - "Hit the same rock with both n/s wheels this afternoon" (was that too difficult to understand?) 18's are standard on the vrs because they're the best tyre/wheel combo for the car, and according to the link you sent, there are more options for 18's than 17's. Thanks for mansplaining what 'one at a time' means, I was having difficulty there. Anyhoo, yes it is a lot more expensive to repair them than buy new ones, so once I've moved from the boondocks to civilisation I'll just be buying two more wheels for almost the price of one repair! 17's? Why do you want to drive around on a doughnut? 🤣😂🤣
  25. Good idea to map it out then. I have to try that.
  26. My Wife just noticed her Citigo is bubbling. I will report on how helpful (or otherwise) D M Keith are in resolving this. Serviced at a local Wakefield garage called Spencer & Broadhead once out of used car warranty.
  27. TBH the cup holder is nigh on useless, bit like the Sat-Nav, just nice to have.
  28. I thought kangarooing only applied to manuals. My 2018 DSG never showed any signs. tom
  29. Just to update this, Mr Towbar Man came back again, did a full reset/install (whatever technical wizardry he had to do!) again to clear any lasting errors etc and now all seems to be working properly again. Before, you could manually activate the blind spot and reverse assist, but every time the car was put in reverse, they deactivated with an error message. No idea what the problem was, but hopefully that's sorted it third time lucky! Got to hand it to the chap, he's happy to come back and take another look with no complaints. It only took this long as he was on holiday, but he did message me when he was away, so no complaints about the standard of service!
  30. It is single belt drive gear to the exhaust cam and gear to gear drive over to the inlet, a bit like the Golf 2 16v KR but replacing the chain with meshed gears. There is only one way I know that one of those rockers can lose a bearing and that is when they have been smashed during cam belt failure.
  31. Yes, this is correct screen, that is also firmware update button you need. I will PM you a link and some destructions
  32. Only if it's not your car - ie it's bought on PCP or leased. However with the cars I buy, the accessories belong to me, not the car.
  33. Not off-hand, but did you not just say you have 4 185/65R15s on the road wheels? Try one of them?
  34. There are no more known problems with a Karoq as there are with any other car you may buy. Kangarooing? You said it yourself - the posts you read were a while back and would have applied to VW and SEAT 1.5tsi of that period too. Problem with cars from late 2019 onwards are few and far between. Prices - I too notice they're knocking off more money now that supply is coming thru. For instance if you look at a broker site like DriveTheDeal, an Ateca 1.5 SE Tech DSG retails for £30400 but some dealer is offering it for £26000 if you buy via PCP. So deals are defo starting to pick up again.

Ok, I was suspecting that. It looks like they don't wanna give any firm dates for eTec cars. By the way - whoever deleted "Transmission" column from the sheet - please don't do this. The edit happened on September 14th and it screwed the table really bad. Now we can either revert to the version on Sept 13th and loose all changes since then or live with the fact that data is a mess now 😞 There's a lot of valuable information for analysis and it's simply not cool to delete data just like that.
  36. The only needle roller I can see in a CAYC engine is for the flywheel centre - item 9 (details HERE) and I can't see how a loose roller could drop into the sump from there. Is it possible the foreign object is only there by chance, dropped from elsewhere in a workshop and forgotten? There's also item 8 although the parts catalogue is coy about identifying it. Same applies as to a roller - how would it get into the sump?
  37. Problem solved after visually checking drop links and heavy handily moving them back and forth I removed one. And the bottom ones nut was loose, I’ve very recently had a 4 piece clutch kit fitted and can only presume them tightened it up loosely whilst popping everything especially together etc. it would have gone unnoticed as visually and structurally presented itself as fine as under tension. Note to self and whoever may stumble upon this remove tie rod end check for play on outer and inner, remove top bolt of drop link and check for play and maybe a loose bolt, I’ll be ordering a pair of drop links in morning as may have suffered with the loose bolt and for what they cost why not!!!! Once again thanks to everyone that took the time out to comment it’s very much appreciated 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
  38. Please note - I am not a mechanic or expert in anything. I've not seen the exact percentage pinned down for the Mk3 but again I'm with [ you ] on this. I find many don't know the importance and I'm just trying to help them finding out in often a very inconvenient way. As autumn progresses and then into winter there'll be many premature battery deaths and battery replacement sales, particularly this year - perhaps I should just shut up and get shares in car battery sales. 😄

I am such a geek that I had to load the latest Windows 11 (22H2) It was released finally yesterday, though will be up to Q1/Q2 2023 I think before most PC's will get it via Windows update (if supported of course) As usual, plenty of nice useful QOL changes, for me it's getting a new task manager that finally comes with dark mode And there are more options here than ever before. I did find a bug with Windows update where the CU got "stuck" where it would not download/progress Fix was to run Admin Command prompt SFC /ScanNow DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth Sync PC Time Reboot Download the WU manually https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB5017321 Apply, reboot Check Windows Update, and it then began downloading and applying the same KB update /Geek off

Try and ring the dealer and ask for an update (however bad the delay is). If you phrase it this way they shouldn’t be scared to tell you the truth. Ideally get them to email a screenshot of your current order status and estimated build date. Allow about a month for ship, delivery to dealer and PDI inspection, and work on basis will be ready to drive home one month after build. In most cases will be fairly close. The VW group tracker website is suggesting about 5-6 months for a Kamiq from order date currently https://www.marnet-mobility.de/aktuelle-lieferzeiten.html
  41. Always post up your Software Train Hold down your menu button and then locate this value (it's also location for firmware update button)
  42. There are a few grommets in the bulkhead where you can easily get into the cabin, don't look at the engine bay if it confuses you, look at the bulkhead, this is the back wall of the engine bay, anywhere that you can see wires or pipes going into the bulkhead you'll find a grommet. Try that.

Guys girls stay possitive after long time it's finaly myyyyy
  44. Covers are off! Kitchen is almost done, bit of decorating to complete then this thing WILL be getting finished. I have replaced the fuel pump relay under the dash, got all of the dash plastics back in and it did start and run just fine. I only ran it for a few mins so I will at some point get it run up to temperature and see if it dies again after 20 mins... Before that though I've got the intercooler off as I was unhappy with the fitment of it so that's next to be worked on then I can get the front end built back up, bumper on and finally get it off the stands. It will need MOT'ing obviously, last MOT was almost 7 years ago......
