  1. Got to love a bright torch in the fog!
  2. Someone will probably know more things to ask you to check such as getting it scanned but if that was my car I’d probably replace the battery as it’s around the age it can go funky (if you’ve not replaced already)
  3. Hi Jonnys The throttle body's primary job is to control the pressure in the inlet manifold under certain operating conditions to encourage the flow of recirculated gas via the EGR system. As a secondary job the flap is closed completely to cut off the air supply during engine switch off, i.e. it acts as an "anti shudder" valve. As J.R. notes, if the flap can't or won't close completely this function won't work properly. This might be because it is gummed up and physically can't shut, or it might be because the position sensor is/was faulty and it is saying it's shut even though it isn't.
  4. The Fabia Sport seats are a nice touch Ryan, they look completely at home in there.

Finally got my car a couple of weeks ago. And it pains me to admit it but I’m glad I waited.
  6. I think I may have married a Jedi!
  7. 1l tsi will be a dry 7 speed.
  8. EDIT. Previously. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/505574-thoughts-on-the-1-litrre-3-cylinder-95-bhp-engine-in-a-fabia-tsi-estate-including-tickover-speed-and-engine-oil-plus-anything-else-anyone @hetty1 If your car is a 1.0TSI and has a DSG it would be handy if you said that. Or is it a manual? EDIT. I see a manual from the previous thread, ? Are you sure it is as high as 1,500 then dropping? 1,200 rpm then dropping to around 800 within a minute would be usual. (Like i expect your mk2 TSI did.) This car has a cat to heat and a GPF and is doing what it has to, but 1,500 seems high to me. *If the car feels unsafe and like it is running away from you if you are not using the brakes from a cold start you have best get out for a drive with a technician and demonstrate to them what it is doing. IMO.* That is no use come winter roads / ice / snow.
  9. So today was rather good. Drove down to Kirkcudbright to drop off some steel wheels and swap my seats for some Bohemia ones. Met a fellow Fabia enthusiast in the process. Fabia earned its keep as my wee load lugger plus the trailer, drove sweet as a nut. Here's some photos of the seats, I'll grab better pictures in the morning, or whenever I remember. All in all, a good trip besides the trailer having causing a bit of a wobble on the way home. It stopped after I pulled in for a bit, not sure what caused that. Will investigate in time. I even managed 40mpg or so as well, so I'll call that an added bonus. I still haven't got around to fitting the new window motor as I haven't been bothered at the moment, I'll get around to it... eventually. Quite pleased with the way things have gone recently, just the electric windows to get sorted and this wee car will be on top form, or something to that degree.
  10. Indeed, you need new glove box, glove box unit, display unit, USB, extension cables set and GPS antenna (assuming you get unit with OEM navigation).
  11. Please note - I am not a mechanic or expert in anything. Well it does but then again not fully, the "German engineering excellence" is rather restrained in the Owner's Manual, as well as on the cars, yes it's VW 504 00 for fixed servicing, this is from my wife's 2015 book (p153). - And in keeping with VWs or warning messages. - Possibly TSiTorque is like me more used to Driver's Handbooks that give more comprehensive information.
  12. I'd do that, but the driver's one is rather comfy and I'm a bit selfish. Plus, the passenger seat doesn't see quite as much use. I'll look into getting the foam repaired. Will have to see what options over here. Thanks.
  13. Base of the drivers on of mine was worn so I swapped em side to side. I know there are places that will "rebuild" the foam in car seats, know someone who had it done on a landcruiser, roughly 60 euro. The montes seat is pretty worn down on the bolster so I'll probably have it done.
  14. Cheers DM. They're class, a lot better than the bar stools I had. I may need to be wary with the passenger seat as you can feel the metal bar in it (by hand at least) at the side and don't want it to wear any worse, or through the cloth even. Obviously the foam base is made of rocking horse **** these days, so what alternatives do I have? Cheers Lee! The other Ryan fitted them, I just spent the time talking to his Dad about his two Fabias. Didn't seem like bother, so hoping that was the case.
  15. Seats looking nice, Ryan! 🙂 Did all the bolts come out ok?
  16. If you enter your VIN onto the Skoda update portal you can download a file with lots of station logos.

Following update to SW 1896, like so many others, I experienced the ‘Pop-Pop- SOS’ fault and the associated loss of functions. The system seemed to struggle for internet connectivity. Mostly connection was made during a journey but not always. After two years of ownership and numerous SW updates SkodaService arranged for the ‘Onboard Communications Unit’ to be changed. I have had the car back for three days and so-far have not experienced any further ‘Pop-Pop’ SOS or loss of functions.
  18. The lad, Ryan, that I got the seats from has a Bohemia that's been kitted out above and beyond an Elegance. He's on the owners club on Facebook as well.
  19. Yes the Bohemia had the same seats as the Sport, just did without the red seat belts. The 1.9 PD100 Bohemia Estate was a useful thing back in the day, even came with the same steering wheel as the VRS but trimmed in smooth leather instead of the perforated.
  20. In case any comes across this thread in the future, I bought the eBay item, fits perfectly! It just clips in, no need to remove anything, 10 second job
  21. Nope, same as inside my car.
  22. There is no official kit from Skoda to add it so there is no part number. I'm not sure if you want AA or CarPlay support but a few random examples include: - https://www.aawireless.io/ - https://carsifi.com/ - https://cplay2air.com/ - https://www.carlinkit.com/ I'd suggest checking some of the many review/comparison sites to see which fits your needs For example: https://uk.pcmag.com/mobile-phone-accessories/141911/the-best-wireless-adapters-for-carplay-and-android-auto-in-2022

It's C14+ and the original firmware as shipped according to the label was 6270 Hardware H23
  24. Thanks Nigel. I have updated the vehicle info thanks to your instructions. I am contemplating accessing through the pollen filter aperture, though it looks a tad small to remove the contol unit... I'll post when I've done, if I actually pursue this. Cheers, Duncan
  25. Part no. 3V0601025AH
  26. Given you've had the car a week - I'd go to the dealer and expect them to fix it. If it's a Skoda/VAG dealer, they should be able to perform an SVM reset and restore the original coding from the VAG servers. At least that way you have a known place to start from
  27. ^^ is the important thing to note... The headlights are on the AFS CAN-bus which is only for headlight aim/levelling - there will be no CAN messages about high beam status. There are multiple (4+?) different CAN-bus networks in your car so you need to check which the CAN-bus the module is designed to be connected to and then find a suitable splice point.
  28. Before and after. . . . After is also with 15mm spacers alround aswell.
  29. Ahem: The clue is in the title Ken...
  30. Ok Pab would that have like a separate power source or connection from the BCM? sorry if that's a silly question I'm not mechanically or electrically minded. How much does it all cost Pab?
  31. That's fair enough. I didn't realise I didn't have separate side lights until about two months ago, I've had the car three years. 😆
  32. Well, as they say: "you can't have everything at the same time" 🤨 while I've managed to resolve issue with the in-call microphone quality by simply fitting OEM mic I was slapped by the head unit with 'Component Protection. so, I'm looking for a Competent person or a workshop in a Basingstoke are who would be able to help me out or it will be a costly trip to local dealer 😕
  33. Anything is possible. Depends how much you want to spend and how much you are willing/able to pull the car apart. If OEM you'll need to get the cables to the glovebox so if all is there you'll need to split them and get the glovebox out to route it correctly. If you don't have all the right cables then you'll need to get those and do the routing. Most aftermarket systems should be able to make use of the buttons. If an android system then you should be able to custom code them. If you are the type of person to leave your phone screen as it comes then I'd say it's worth talking to a local car audio place as well as pab567 to get a better idea of what's involved.

I agree it's worth waiting for, but prolonging the waiting times brings frustration. Regarding your car, there is one thing for sure; even if you forget where you left your car, you could not miss it in a parking lot even if you wanted to 😉😀.
  35. Few months later, I have finally managed to have the unit installed in my car. It looks good, sound is decent. The CONS of this unit are: - poor in-call quality due to poor quality of the built-in microphone; with an additional external microphone was NOT much better either 😕 - Lack of Android Auto functionality. This can be bypassed by downloading Headunit Reloaded Emulator by B3IT or its counterpart for Apple Phone. - wiring issue - could NOT work it out - unit would remain ON even with the key pulled out of ignition. Every time had to manualy switch the unit off. Eventually, I found a way around it by disconnecting one of the power wires from the connector at the back. I was fairly satisfied with this unit until my Steering Wheel Controls became unresponsive. I was worried, that HU somehow managed to damage or interfere with MFSW. But NO. I have checked two different CAN-BUS Adapters and MFSW would simply not work any more with this unit. so... decided to go OEM way...
  36. So you've decided against something like the Millers Diesel Power ECOMAX (Multi Shot) then, personally (and I know others here have reverse and other opinion or belief about this) I think adding it in now and after/regular use, at least until the bottle is empty, would be a good belt and braces move for now and future use, particularly on a 14 year old diesel that may not get many blow-out runs. I'm sure your wife would be happy to buy the bottle as a low cost remedy for her mistake and as a reminder to prevent making the same mistake again. 😊 But it's you and/or your wife's money and decision of course and I don't want to start a marital dispute or divorce proceedings, just wanting you to get £400 out of those tyres. 😁 https://www.millersoils.co.uk/products/diesel-power-ecomax/

Week 43 happened thankfully and told today, car is made and on the way to Emden Port for December delivery. So looks like it will be just under the 1 year mark from ordering to delivery which, strange to say it, would actually be one of the quicker turnarounds.

  39. Procured a glovebox from a Fabia at a breakers yard in Ayr, got some more bits to go back for at some point. It's filthy as the car had been lying sans windows for a good couple of years at least. The good thing is that it's free from scratches thankfully, it's helping go towards fixing the damaged trim panels in the car. I'll post better photos once I've given it a run in the bath as it's quite poor inside and out... and a spider crawled up my arm when I opened it. Moving on, I've got no electric windows anymore, they've died. However, @Breezy_Pete being the absolute gem he is, has sent up a replacement motor module for the window. I need to wait for a dry day before fitting that, though. I've tried bringing the switch unit in and drying it out with a radiator but no such luck so far.

    Omg, will this ever stop?
  41. Winter mode 🤪 Washed, polished, waxed and winter wheels mounted.
  42. lots of clean looking Superbs (rightly so) but I have to admit I do enjoy Just a little bit o dirt now and then~
  43. In particular, when battery type is being changed - i.e. EFB to AGM as PB intends.
  44. I suppose this should be posted under "What I didn't do to my Superb III today" I was driving into the sun the other day and was surprised to see how dirty the inside of my windscreen was. No one has ever smoked in the car, I don't know how that film of grease got there. Anyway, on Friday I cleaned the front windscreen, then got around to the back. Lifted the hatch, removed the parcel shelf, leaned it up against the wall of the Café G (I park on the street) climbed into the boot and gave the rear window a good clean. Excellent. Sunday, we went for a two-day road trip. When I unpacked the car, I finally realised that I had forgotten to replace the parcel shelf. D'oh! Double d'oh!! Got home yesterday, hoping that the parcel shelf would still be leaning against the wall where I left it... So, what's the best way to replace the parcel shelf. Dealer? e-Bay? Breakers?
  45. After a long 3 months from the last wash, Gandalf is shiny clean again!!
  46. Just treated myself to the brake setup from an Audi S3 front and rears. When the parts arrive and get painted youll get photos
  47. I get all logos from here: Heart 70s - logo for VW Infotainment car radio (media.info) I put them on an SD card. Put it in the spare slot - my Amundsen has one slot for NAV and one for music or updates Then used the System Update function on the head unit, pointed it to the logos folder and they all copy in.

This place is an absolute gem - Kervaig bothy at Cape Wrath, No access apart from boat, If you like isolation this is your place but popular in the summer months and car park at the ferry is tiny.
