  1. Well, i guess you can't please everyone. I don't mind the gear selector, nor do i dislike the ACC, infotaiment or travel assist 🤷‍♂️
  2. Yep, sorry I’ve had a lot on my plate. I’ve tried to extract myself from a few extra jobs I had on the go. Then good old life kicks ya in the walnuts, and before you know it two months have flown by. if anyone wants to organise, get a ball rolling, please do let me know. That said, I’ll see what I get up to tomorrow.won’t be making a salad for lunch so will call the south lakes place I had I mind. thanks for the prod…
  3. For those who have been around a bit may remember my DIY camper build: Well I used that for a fair few years then as life changes it wasn't getting used as much, so I sold it (tidy profit). Fast forward a few years, Covid, divorce, relocation and I felt like the camping itch was back. So after discussing with my partner we decided to have a look about. And this is the result.. No self build this time, shooting for a built one. Needs a little 'modernization' as a lot of campers/caravans do, but it has all the things we need. Rock'n'roll bed, fridge, sink, oven, storage a plenty. Clever use of space being a short wheel base, but fine for the two of us and the doggo. A good scrub up, some new curtains, and maybe get the furnishings re-upholstered and I'll be more than happy.
  4. One wrapped trim. The £50 to save my sanity is worth it 😂
  5. Yep I completely agree and the filter was absolutely dirty to say the least and a new genuine filter has certainly improved my mpg substantially, cheers
  6. Hello all, I have finally returned to Skoda ownership after 12 years and many, many cars since my last Skoda. Currently running an Audi S1 as my weekend car but have just purchased a 2013 Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo. Last time I was active on the forum I had a 2003 Skoda Octavia VRS and attended a few meets, but feels a very long time ago now. Anyway good to be back in a Skoda. Jon
  7. You did remove the plastic wheel bolt covers before checking.
  8. Another nct, another fail Last time it was on the lights being too high, this time it was for the spotlamps not having a fuse. That's it. Free retest and it doesn't need to be booked so I'll wire in a fuse tomorrow and next time I'm near a centre I'll throw it in. Otherwise perfect, everything well within limits. Shocked it passed with the downpipe although I did put some effort into making it harder to spot. Posted it before I think but I got a panel that goes under most newer vws that acts as an extra undertray, sort of. Had it a while but only just got around to trimming it up to make it fit. Made a cardboard template of what Shape I needed to trim it to And voila. Still has a vw part number on it. If you don't look too hard it almost looks standard. Did make it a bit neater after that pic was taken. Was worried about it struggling to pass with all the mods, but it seems I've done well. Not a word was said about any of the mods except for needing to put a fuse onto the spots. It was said to me that one of the balljoints is just starting to wear (and I only replaced them tail end of last summer) but not bad enough to mention on the report. Will order a new pair next time I'm ordering parts.
  9. There was a fabia gt on marketplace not too long ago. Would love to have the whole gt kit that includes the little fender flares. Like a body coloured monte
  10. Still the best car I've ever owned tbh. That pic is from my poor rattle can attempt if I remember right. The professional job was much better. GT lips are like rocking horse **** and have been for a long time now. It was a genuine Skoda body part. Oh, and it was a PD 154.5 if you don't mind 😝
  11. Could always do what @@Lee did with his PD100 and try and get a hold of a GT lip for the pre-facelift bumper? That's what I had intended to do with mine. But regardless, it'd look pretty smart going for the Q-Car/Sleeper look, could catch a few folk out. Don a trilby, tweed jacket and some other stuff and you'll scare the sh!t out of the backwards bunnet folk in their BMWs.
  12. +1 I did the same with mine - got the AliExpress rear boot spoiler. So far so good and it's still holding strong and not fading.
  13. No. It is the key to undo the Locking Wheel Bolts. One per wheel. In this day and age I'll consider throwing mine away and replacing with a 5th standard wheel bolt. Use it very carefully, especially when tightening the bolt. Slip with one of these on a power gun or clumsy torque wrench and it's a devil's job to fix a messed up locking bolt. Long ago, one of my boys left the locking key on the wheel after a wheel change and never saw it again after driving along the road a bit. Had to procure a kit to butcher off the damaged locking bolt. Which may still be hiding in my garage somewhere.

Mines at the dealers now, ordered Nov 22, should pick up next week 🙃
  15. I set myself the target of covering 1000 miles before refueling which I managed today. Still had a 20 mile range showing when I pulled onto the forecourt. Looking forward to seeing how far it will go when the summer temperatures are here in a few months time and the economy improves. I put in £120.00 which was just over 70.6 litres. Pictures below.
  16. SORTED 😁Acting on good advice on here I went for an AGM start/stop battery. Very cheap at £124.99 delivered from GSF Car Parts. Only 3 yr warranty but does the job. BTW to avoid any issues in disconnecting the battery I connected the new one to the two battery leads with jump leads until I got the old battery out. Best to have an assistant helping to avoid shorting anything out ! Thanks again fellas
  17. The Air filter at 6 years is ridiculous, but that is a guideline. Checked at services is what they should be. Even given a shake, a vacuum or blow through. Someone in Germany has no idea where the cars are used. Even the 4 year spark plug change or at 40,000 miles is guidance. The 3 cylinder engine like yours might have a plug going already at 33,000 miles. Then there was a injector issue. Just sons cars, a TPI not a recall. Ps raise all you like with Service Staff. They are there full time and the same old same old goes on. The Air filters used to be at the 2nd Major Service which was 4 years / 40,000 miles and on the fixed price and the tech / filter might just decided not required and not even look.
  18. Thanks for you replies. It’s a 2020 1.0 tsi manual with full Skoda history with just under 33k. Well this morning I inspected the air filter and it was absolutely filthy! And it’s obviously the original filter. I changed this myself and after a run got an instant increase in MPG. The air filter change intervals on these seem far to high in my opinion. Oh and I’m not 89 it’s the year I was born 😃 and I did raise the poor MPG with Skoda and got the usual must be your driving style and not DTCs are logged etc etc. You’d think inspecting the air filter would be a basic check and I’m 100% going to be raising this with the service department at my local dealer. Once again thank you all for your comments and input 🤙🏻👌🏻
  19. The Parts are cheaper now. But using cheap parts that were crap was a false economy. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/45247-fabia-vrs-mk2-waterpumpsupercharger-clutch-part-number http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/501646-fabia-mk2-magnetic-clutch

Bit sad, my Mazzer has been delayed. I'd agreed with the dealer that the would be inspected before handover and if discs/pads were under 50% they'd be changed. Dealer also offered to change oil. So brakes are getting renewed but they found a broken spring on the car and they are going to change the front pair. But Maserati springs are on back order, 2-4 weeks 😭
  21. @Awesam Was that a 2011? No idea why it would not have had '34F7' done other than owners not wanting it done. You could find a CAVE with it's original engine maybe, but a replacement engine is not an issue if that has been recorded and is still OK. If you find a CAVE engine car it is over 10 years old now so all that matters is what can be proved as has been done before you get it. What will need done after is anyone's guess.
  22. I had the same problem - intermittent light and bong sounding. It first started just after a service. I had to change the oil pressure sensor twice before it cleared the problem. Even the brand new one was faulty. Only £7 from gsf and took 10 minutes to do on the drive.
  23. Then they do not have DNPA engines but DKTB … Therefore ECUs I guess they are different, not the SImos 19.6 but the 18 ... Interesting. Answering @Hairy_Joe if you go to Skoda with for VIN they will tell you that the part is not compatible, at least that's what they told me. I do not have full access to erWin, so I am not able to double check.
  24. This one got new tyres on Saturday and has been running about nicely since. Since it was sunny for once, I went out with the DSLR and took some photos up at a bit I used to frequent to have a half hour escape from everything and just admire the scenery.
  25. I've also bought the mud flaps for my new Mk4 VRS, but haven't fitted them yet. However, I certainly won't be doing any drilling. My previous car was a Mk3 VRS for which the mud flap instructions also specified drilling. Instead of drilling I used some thin number plate sticky foam strips and these worked perfectly - my son has this car now and after 9 years the mud flaps are still firmly stuck.
  26. I am aware that the updates may take a long time to download. I have a loan car booked for the day, and they are supposedly holding the car free for Monday, just in case.
  27. 70 EUR with 20 EUR express shipment. Part just 50 EUR.
  28. Apparently they are migrating data, I got this reply from Skoda: Thank you for your message about the login issue and we apologize for problems it caused you. We would like to inform you that we are currently migrating our database and this is the most likely cause of the problem with loggin in. We expect the migration to be finished during the upcoming days after which the app should return to normal functionality. If the problems persists afterwards, please do no hesitate to message us again and we will be happy to assist you. Again, we apologize for the problem and thank you for your patience. Kind regards, ŠKODA Connect LITE Team So God knows when it will be up again! Amusingly, the latest update to the app was to correct 'login issues' 🤣😂🤣
  29. Having the same issue present itself around the (hatch) boot edges on my MY2016 - though that's unexpected for a 2019 car, well spotted. I am due to get the car in for a full 'stage 3 paint correction+' ceramic coating session soon, so I'm sure the fixes + coating is going to provide a hefty bill. Tend not to do many paint fixes myself, though have treated all gravel rash and the small rust areas I've found with the Turtle Wax Scratch Repair & Renew stuff (whether it does anything or not to protect it in the meantime 🙄). Do update if you get a quote for a fix.
  30. And there it is: It fits like a glove. There is waaaay more clearance in the back side with the turbo and downpipe than with the original one. No clashes with the upper part of the engine but the engine tap is hidden any time so, If you want to put oil in, you have to remove the cover ... 4 seconds movement.
  31. @IrksomeDread04Welcome. Is the car ordered from Hawco? Good luck on that time frame.
  32. Hi

    Always a bonus 😆🤣 Welcome!
  33. Most likely an update to the OCU unit, as they are loads of firmwares out there for them.
  34. Bit of an update. Pulled the engine and gearbox out. I'll use it for something one day because they are both low mileage and in really good nick so I'll maybe put that engine on bike carbs and stick it in a favorit or something. Most of the rear end is painted now but I found some rust in the wheel arch behind the filler cap. Seem like a mud trap so I'm not surprised so I'll get that sorted soon and then the axle can get put back in. I also massively underestimated how much time boring out the front knuckles for the coilovers was gonna take😂
  35. Thanks @varooom. Next step is awaiting another convo with Skoda customer services to see what they say. I cant see how they should be allowed to make such a big change without the informed consent of owners. Obviously I feel that I *shouldn't have to* spend time and money to go to a third party or tuner to fix my car. Knowing that it might just take an ECU fix, not DSG too is good news. A bit of looking at Dutch/German forums suggested that the 23AX is particularly brutal on Euro6 non-adblue engines like mine. I believe such engines are actually very rare as there are only a few months of manufacture of Euro 6, before adblue was included. They also made the point that nitrogen oxides and soot are 2 sides of the same hot/cool burn coin. Cooler burning and richer mixes inevitably gives more soot - which I find annoyingly plausible 😞
  36. They still make manual Kodiaq's for certain other countries but they've been dropped from the UK option list. I imagine it's because sales of the manual were low, and the DSG boxes probably cost about £100 more to make, but they can bump up the prices up by a few £k. It's a shame because the manual +1.5 engine is a really good combination, based on my manual MY23 Kodiaq. You can still get the Tarraco as a manual as well, if people want what is effectively a manual Kodiaq.

  38. I’m pleased you think they’re ok, they seem totally sound to me and are genuinely confused by the issue. My problem is I’m up in Banff, it’s my granddaughter’s car she’s based in Stanley. She’s naturally concerned that when she drives up to us this weekend there could be an issue. It’s booked back in to Meigle next Thursday, hopefully I can get these suggestions to Ian and Stephen and they can bear them in mind - just hoping nothing goes wrong in the meantime! Thanks for all the help, much appreciated.
  39. Yes, plug and play. Actually Focals are also almost plug and play, just need change of plstic part of the plug. No need for spacers etc. Together they sound very good, but of course with better speakers it can be better
  40. I had same issue on a Tiguan and earlier Golf. In fact Kamiq is better!
  41. It's an adaptor that listens to the CAN-bus and will then tell the headunit to power up etc. If it's designed for an older PQ35 car, it may never get the right messages to turn the headunit on. You need a convertor designed for MQB cars. At least that's my best guess based on the text - quick google translate:
  42. So I think I've made decision to keep my RH ZW splits and after refurb they will be fitted to citigo. Still need to order correct spacers and fully refurb the wheels but think they look not bad 😁 Some photos from test fit. VID_20230222_170349.mp4
  43. Clumber Park earlier this evening ......
  44. You need to know how they should drive to be able to know if it drives properly. Taking a Twincharger owner or past owner helps there. You have no idea if the car is remapped or not, or if on the 3rd engine which is OK, or the 2nd or 3rd set of Clutch Plates or a new DSG or MCU. You need to go by condition, and be familiar with the engines, what the OE coils look like and what spark plugs it should have just as basics. If the seller knows about the cars it helps, but does not mean it is not a duff one. ? What tyres were on it, were the brakes looking OK. The exhaust? It does help if a seller is OK with the car getting a long run, up to temp and then booted hard a few times, kickdown used, put in S, dropping 2 gears etc and using supercharge and turbo and no Engine or EPC or both coming on. Good if it is running on Super Unleaded and not just Unleaded.
  45. As an out of interest exercise I got a price (only from local dealer) for the Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer plug-in hybrid for a three year / 20,000 annual / full service & tyres contract (So as to compare apples for apples with my mk.4 order). The Astra price some +£175 excl VAT monthly.... So thats +£6,300 excl VAT over the contract period. No thanks.

It’s a case of each to their own isn’t it really. The VRS model should have an exhaust note, the mk4 is far too quiet IMO. Sure the other Octavia models can be as quiet as a mouse but why promote your top spec vehicle as the “sports” or “hot hatch” and make it sound like a vacuum cleaner? Just my ten pence worth 🤪
  47. About August 2012 are the first UK registered ones. MY13 after the factory summer break. They still never got the first ones right and needed a software update, even some needed the Breather Mod and then Oil Spray Jet updates. 2013 another Software update. (I ordered a New Seat Ibiza Cupra with the new engine, new engine management, they were delayed being sold / imported until the balls-up was sorted out.) They dropped a VED band to the same as the POLO GTI had been. Later the Kerb Weight had to be corrected by VW / SEAT, because as usual they lied. Heavier cars, wider tyres, shows as more efficient and faster even though not. http://autocar.co.uk/car-review/seat/ibiza-cupra-2009-2017/first-drives/seat-ibiza-cupra-first-drive http://autocar.co.uk/car-review/seat/ibiza-cupra-2009-2017 So the 2012-2013 early CTHE never got the Service Campaign '34F7' carried out on the DSG, or the then 2013-2015 '34H5' software update. See the last pages of the pinned thread up top. That was another balls-up. About 1,800 CAVE, then 1,000 CTHE. Around 800 are estates in the UK.
