  1. Oh yeahhhh, photographs! The car is also running Alpine speakers in the front now. Much better response than the Pioneers I had fitted previously, especially on the MS502 which can seriously drive out the power. So I've done nearly 1,000 miles with this car since it was returned to the road. Mileage is going up steadily as I'm helping out a bit with my best mate moving and other errands since his Mum passed. As a thank you for not imploding, I have given the car a wash. Even removed the "tat" from the inside somewhat so I can properly clean it before adding back all the essentials. The bodywork close up is getting really poor on the car, given my mostly fast A-road, dual-carriageway/motorway mileage it's acquired stone chips and other foibles that let the paintwork down. Think a fella I know will be breaking a fairly clean Mk1 in Flamenco Red like this one, so hoping I can get some panels to improve the state of mine somewhat. That's a job for future me, however. In the meantime I need a new boot floor as the other has warped. So going to get some of the early black boot carpeting for my car. Anyways, here's the clean-ish interior, which I'm aiming to get the black carpet for as well. Oh yeah, and my footrest, in a photo that was taken prior to washing the car. So yeah, I think that's everything. But as a "rolling project/resto" this car is doing pretty well considering I'm launching the mileage at it. In the meantime enjoy a photo from Skodafest that had come up on my Facebook courtesy of my mate Ryan.
  2. The fact that its using large quantities of oil and water without any visible leaks bears that out, the only common factor I could think of is head gasket failure but surely the exhaust gases and inside of the tailpipe would be indicative. I agree with both T07 and the Client, you need someone with the gear and more than no idea, a useless mechanic with a Snap On scanner is still a useless one, maybe even more so.
  3. Yes, get your dealer to do it under the warranty. I called mine and said I had a bunch of issues, including the reboots and consequent ACC issues. Was told 'you're not the only one' and they were happy to update to 1941 and provide a loan car. No charge.
  4. Putting energy into anything carries a risk of fire. When I was maybe 8, I remember filling a paint can with diesel and putting it on the bonfire. The petrol one before was a superb display. The diesel one considerably more boring. Nothing was happening. Of course in later life I found out thats not dissimilar to driving a diesel 😛 What I needed was an accelerant, or in my younger head, something to see what was going on. Tada a long stick. Prod, um, prod, um, tap, um, I must of put the lid on well. Whack, there we go... A few years back, I got back; too briefly, into model aero. Lithium had replaced nicad and the world was awash with warnings on recharging lithium in your house. Ideally in an old ammo container under plastic bags of fine sand. So if the battery was damaged or failed, any fire would be snuffed by said sand. Not by your laundry basket. So I guess statistically I've seen more ICE car fires than ev fires. Then again when I was thumping the paint can, I'd seen more petrol fires than diesel. A few years later I saw a man emptying a dust extractor from a MDF workshop, taking the bag, about 200l in size, to the well alight bonfire. It; the bag, never made it all the way. One set of crispy eyebrows later, I'd seen as many people on fire as I had diesel filled paint cans. None of these events put me off using petrol, diesel, anything with a lithium battery, however I refuse to use MDF. So perhaps there is nothing to these words other than, fate. I'm fated to now have an EV. Perhaps I'll build a car port and cover it in sandbags. One final thing, I do remember whilst sat on the roof of the shed, waiting for the diesel paint tin. That was arguing with my friend about how long to wait/prod it. Neither of us knew about the science behind paint tins filled with fuel, but we had a good old ding dong around it. If we'd carried on I'm sure I'd need not of prodded the tin at all before it went up. I'm sure I' was trying to make a point here, however now chuckling, thinking back to that dam can, fizzing away. Don't repeat this at home, this was all done in a field a safe-ish distance from abestos roofed buildings. Now to check the fuel price to top up my paint can...
  5. No, I haven't taken anything personal. I just want to get the facts right and myths cleared. Let's clear some of the throwaway comments you've made about BEV's that are clearly myths that had been dispelled. Can you provide counter points to my posts above? There is surely something to use from your TB's of disk drive references. Why does every time I post counter arguments, you don't respond and add context/reference to your original statements? The only thing you've continuously responded to was regarding fire risk. Something I had not dismissed as "nothing wrong here". I am merely asking for a risk assessment and whether the risk is being managed, rather than you only stating the worst possible outcome. Also there had been some very clear misunderstanding of terms, such as air quality and net zero. This makes me doubt about your repeated boasting engineering background. May be it was more management focused? (you wanted me to lighten up?) Basically, if you want to make statements, best have the evidence to back it up, Don't want to spread myths or FUD.
  6. The tunnel will be the first if it happens, they have had 2 massive fires and the enclosed vehicle double decker carriage had to be retrofitted with fire barrier doors between each compartment reducing the capacity. They dont allow jerrycans of fuel or gas cylinders and special measures are taken for gas powered vehicles or campervans with gas cylinders. When the first EV fire happens it will may cause casualties given the confined space and how quick they meltdown, it will be a tough call banning them given they will gradually become the majority of vehicles, they could travel in the open truck carriages but the thought of an EV firebomb spreading to the freight and the flames being fanned by the airflow does not bear thinking about.
  7. I have never given a flying Four-X what shade of oxidisation and brake dust my brake calipers are, its how well they function that matters to me.
  8. Sure, you've been doing your best to sort out the issues. You've been trying the specialist route which can save you money and can work out well but as you've also found out, not so well when there are multiple faults in different areas... Youur specialists haven't really got edit near to the bottom of everything going on and as their name suggests have stuck to their limited remit. Let's just say it did have a turbo fault, and that's fixed now and that money and repairs sailed now. So that's behind you. So, your still stuck with the coolant consumptikn which maybe a number of things as described by @T07 but needs a mechanic with some clues to diagnose. The oil usage surely is immense. And as pointed out, unless they've pulled a fast one on you, can't be the turbo. I seem to remember the op already posted it's not landing on the floor. So that leaves being burned.... and that should be noticeable. Common culprit on these engines as rings isn't it? What's the engine code - the letters at start of engine number? A forum like this is good, useful, especially for fixing problems others have experienced. Dealing with multiple things and faults at the same time is harder on a forum though... there's also possibilities of some symptoms being linked. I think what you really need is a mechanic you can trust, with some experience on these engines and ask him / her to inspect and advise what is required to put it right... maybe you have to pay just to get that assessment but if they're good it will be money we'll spent and help you decide what to do next... Its a shame it's already cost you north of £2k but your either gonna have to spend some more money likely or off load it and get something else!! I doubt with what your experiencing, it is only one single fault remaining unfortunately.
  9. Late to every party! 😉
  10. Find someone friendly with a screwdriver and a bit of a clue to get the remains of the spoiler off and have a look for you. The worst thing that can happen is you hand the spoiler you've bought to the main dealer and say yes, I do need a bumper. Doesn't sound like he wasted much time assessing the issue (but quite liked the profit on a bumper replace job).
  11. Dealership manager called to apologise. Since my car was in the showroom on display the Type 2 to Type 2 Cable was used to plug into the display charger & overlooked when the car went to be prepped and overlooked as missing by whoever should have checked the kit. It is being couriered to me.
  12. Using O2 sensor spacers is not an exact science. Mainly, on the market you have straight spacers and 90° elbow spacers, all with different lengths so you would need to check and try which one would be the one passing the check ... not triggering the engine error light. And yes, you have to lower the subframe, at least the left side, there is not enough clearance, VAQ differential is blocking the clean way out. I am in stage 1 for both ecu and dsg ... with 324 hp and 492 nm. Mods just turbo inlet/outlet and RacingLine R600 intake ... and so far so good. Real pitty the lack of exhaust sound but that's what we have.
  13. Using coolant could be either Egr cooler, charge cooler, head gasket or blocked matrix. Are you getting steam out the exhaust? Is there any coolant residue around the reservoir from it overflowing? If there’s a new turbo then the oil consumption must be elsewhere, so can rule turbo out. A scanner isn’t going to show you why you are using coolant. It needs a decent mechanic. Pressure tests often don’t pick up on internal coolant leaks as they aren’t big enough and also sometimes only apparent when at operating temperatures.
  14. 820 miles done. Sussed the car now. 90 miles motorway from a 99% battery and arrived with it showing 28 miles range but 32% battery. It was showing 3.8- 4.2 miles a kWh. In sport and low regen and AC on and set at 16*oC. Outside is 18-21 degrees. Used now to no lane keep assist which I usually like and had for the past 3 years. Car runs straight and smooth and then darts about. As to tailgaters. They are to slow on the accelerator really. The MINI has very strong windscreen washing schoshers. Great for putting their wipers on. As for EV,s. Well they are pretty much trucking about below the speed limits. The accelerator is stiff, very stiff! needs pushed quite a lot so my seat is further forward and I am getting used to it. In Mid or Green the pedal needs pushed that hard and far down that I only tried then and will use them with Cruise Control on but that seems to not improve efficiency or range. Tyres are great, ride is great. Car is like an oven in the sun with so much glass and the AC is needed. Opening the windows is noisy and frameless there are no wind deflectors to fit. That is going to be a pity when sitting charging in rain or snow so it will be a case of the heater, demister being on when in the car. Chargers damn quick anyway and if every 100 miles or say 75 miles in winter then that is the penalty to pay. About paying. Now I am charging at Stirling park and ride. 24 minutes on the rapid and started with 48kW and now it is doing 33kW and I am at 84%. The 40 minute limit will be fine in this weather for the 80 miles until home. In winter it will need to be 40 mins on the rapid then on the 11kW AC untill maybe 98%. Long story long, loving it and a less than 30 kWh usable car can do as well as a 45kW usable car. Maybe even better when nipping on. The Corsa was 3.1 - 3.5 miles a kWh on the same roads, same speed, same weather. On all season tyres though . And as comfy.
  15. So, no then. See if you can find a VCDS owner that's local to you and offer them a few beer tokens
  16. It's a glorious evening..........
  17. Services and pressure tests are not going to fix it. In the immortal words of @toot you need someone with more than an idea. You are using water and oil at a high rate. You need to find out where they are going. They could be mixing in a part that is not good and getting on for writing the engine off. Is the exhaust smokey? If so what colour? Blue leans to burning oil. White is water. Have a look at the underside of the oil filler cap. Is it milky? Did any of the oil changes show anything in the oil?
  18. Hi Experts here is update on above very old issue which made to bin the car few times but never gave up, credit goes to very kind hearted Rock star of this group @Breezy_Pete By chance I was travelling to meet friends and Pete was not far where I was visiting , Pete kindly agreed to offer me time and agreed to look my car on sunny weekend , in 3 minutes he found 3 issues in car and to my surprise he found the root cause of all engine loss / EPC light etc which no body was able to identify or they never had expertise. The Pete went logically had data sheet of my car and looked that my fuel-filter which was bought from euro parts ( 2-3 filter changed since 2-3 years) had wrong fuel pressure, since same model had possibly few variants but the fuel filter has same number of inlets/outlets but different pressure regulator values, 3bar or 4 Bar , Pete had list in hand looked everything and when saw the fuel filter he said this could be major issue with my car since it needed 3 BAR as per specification but current fuel filter was 4BAR .. so Pete explained that car computer is getting out of abnormal values because of high pressure fuel and trying to add more oxygen and probably messing up oxygen fuel ratio when it goes high speed .. Thanks @Breezy_Petefor saving planet and stopping my good car going to landfill and pollute the planet , today I have changed the fuel filter and drove the car at speed of 70miles/hour first time without any issue I drove good 20-30 miles. I checked Short Term /long term Fuel trims using dignositics and then were very much under 10% approx 7% I think these values were very dice and changing from -20 to +20 earlier with different rpms . Once again fuel filter pressure is very important for car computer please do check the car manual and never trust any OEM suppliers. Thanks for reading , hope it helps Skodians. Regards raky
  19. I hate fake engine noises or any fake noise for "driver engagement". It's totally unnecessary. EV motors have their own character already. Under max power, I've found Leaf motor have a different sound to Tesla motors. The sound changes according to speed, just like ICE. Difference is they are completely silent during normal use, which is much better. Only necessary fake sounds are a gentle sound for warning pedestrians at low speed and car park reverse warning sound.
  20. the TPI number is: 2069590. The dealer told me today this TPI didn't apply to my VIN, and they found another TPI which did apply to my VIN, and that also recommended applying the 1941 update. Here's a link to the forum post which contains the TPI to download: Link to forum post Anyway, I think if you tell me the infotainment system is restarting multiple times, and reference the TPI in the forum post above as a friendly nudge I suspect they'll put you on 1941.
  21. Apparently no recorded incident of a factory EV spontaneously combustion at sea. As video mentions just one Qashqai which was a home made EV catching fire... Nice to hear 487 people are going to get an EV and it is a couple of thousand ICE cars that will never go on the road polluting our world further....
  22. 'Technical product information'.
  23. You will find about half a dozen threads since the change was made in July in the UK. There is not much to debate, VW Group , VW, Skoda, SEAT & Audi have been taking the pith for a decade with UK owners / customers.
  24. 1 point
M14 x 1.5 I got one recently to prevent faffing at the side of the road - £7.50
  25. At 1 litre per 100 miles, that exhaust should be smoking like an old Russian T55. Are there any sign of oil leaks on the underside of the engine bay? I once had a rental from Rent a wreak in California - that leaked oil like like the Torrey Canyon!
  26. Do some basic checks first : 1) Tyre pressures 2) hook your hands under each wheel arch, lift it a bit and let go, if it wallows or doesn't settle straight away then shock absorbers faulty 3) check for transport blocks, normally have to jack body up and look at top of spring under the cover, shouldn't be any lumps of U shaped plastic slid in. 4) Are tyres (especially front) wearing more on one edge, if so got tracking or alignment issue. From memory the scout being higher has slightly different size tyres, so check the pressure not been set to standard Superb (should be a pressure sticker (either inside the fuel filler cap, or on left front door frame). If it is a 2021 car then double check someone hasn't put wrong size tyres on it (because they are cheaper). What tyres and size have you got, and is the tyre date code (4 digit number near rim) consistent with few weeks before build (say 3 or 4 months before registration), as this will indicate if tyres are original. If you don't understand tyres just copy the brand and range name and numbers and 4 digit code written on them and someone here is bound to explain it.
  27. Never used this lot, but concept seems sound... https://motorway.co.uk/
  28. Just noticed that the Black Friday sale where Skoda usually reduce the price of service plans is currently taking place under 'Summer sale' 20% off service plans. https://customer.vwfs.co.uk/service-plans/skoda I've checked on the Karoq I recently sold and a 2yr all-in-1 plan would cost £28 a month. That's very attractive. Wish I could buy it now for the Kodiaq but it's not eligible for another few months yet.
  29. Seems a little excessive if the only damaged part is the lower spoiler. If, however, the attachment points on the bumper have been ripped off then maybe that's why they want to sell you a new bumper. Even so, it may be feasible to remake the attachment points by plastic welding. Take the destroyed spoiler off yourself and make your own mind up on the condition of the bumper. 928 euros buys a lot of cable ties.
  30. Checked it with my tuner when I did the remap and yes, you will get ECU error from the O2 sensors reading pre and post catalytic converter. If you really want to install either you play with O2 sensor spacers or you get just an ECU tune for OPF off exclusively, I would say it's already on the market for the Simos 19.6. I do not know how emissions regulations work in Estonia, how rigorous they are in the TUV check, but here in France you get a fail with full de-cat downpipe ... so If you want to pass, you have to dismount and mount again the downpipe ... and that's not peanuts, because to remove the OPF you are obliged to dismount the lower subframe completely. That's the reason why I put the installation of de-cat downpipe aside.
  31. You need the whole lot - just unzip the zip file to the root of a USB stick. Once unzipped you should have one file (metainfo2.txt) and the two mib1/mib2 folders. I use a 64GB stick formatted to NTFS and the car seems happy with that.
  32. The latter gets harder with age! I have no vision from the left eye so cycling on the right of French roads is a particular challenge, I rely on my hearing but the faster I cycle the more wind noise there is the less I can hear. The other night I could hear a vehicle waiting behind me to pass, it was the main A road to Bordeaux so there was enough width but he was respecting Le Code de la Route requiring him to leave at least 1m space, when he passed I gestured to thank him moving my right arms to the left and giving a thumbs up, he then pulled in sharply in front of me and brake violently to a halt, I have SPD pedals and had to brake so quickly I could not release my feet to stop, I passed on his inside and he pulled away and tried to squeeze me into the ditch, this carried on with him also trying to push me into oncoming traffic, I dismounted but he drove off when confronted. Once I had calmed down I realised he had not seen my thumb but a bent arm and clenched fist being raised, the French bras d'honneur 😯 hence his reaction, I now only signal with my left hand, but for the SPD pedals I could have kicked out my left foot to signify thanks as motorcyclists do which is often misinterpreted as an act of aggression by UK drivers.
  33. I know I should not laugh but I did, any fine powder will explosively combust in the right conditions, time for me to admit one of my childhood conneries except I was no longer a child, I had a driving license! My parents had a caravan on the South Coast, my father kept it for a couple of years after my mother died and then passed it on to someone else. The last year he had it I went with my equally idiot mate for a weeks holiday consisting of drinking and chasing girls without success. As young ados do we were play fighting and I picked up the dry powder fire extinguisher as a threat prop and it went off, it was powered by a soda siphon cartridge, what all the druggies inhale these days, so it did not stop but blanketed everything inside the caravan including us in dust. We spent the remaining days cleaning the caravan of all traces of the powder and I then set about putting the extinguisher back in service, the propellant charge was easy, soda siphons were all the rage in the 70's but what powder should I use and where to find it? Then I had the brainwave of using talcum powder..............................😒 A couple of years later my father told me the caravan was no more, the gas fire had caught fire and then exploded taking out the windows and doors and the eybrows of the new owner, trying not to let my nervousness show in my voice I asked did they not use the fire extinguisher? and he said they were trying to put out the fire with it when the explosion happened 😯
  34. Figured out why my cigi socket stopped working; only been a year or so... In the process found the old cigi usb adapter I thought I'd lost, plus a plastic five pound note; pays for the replacement adapter I'd ordered. Amazing what that glove box holds! Not quite sure how a 20a fuse would of blown from a usb accessory. Now to find an overpriced fuse and repeat the glovbox emptying, maybe I'll find a ten pound note, pay for the fuse.
  35. Yes, it's banned on all UK public transport. https://www.moveelectric.com/e-scooters/which-train-firms-have-banned-e-scooters That is due to fire risk concerns and the fact private vehicles are not legally allowed on the roads outside the station. But e-bikes, electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters are all fully legal and thus not banned. Remember e-scooter and drones often use Li-Po battery, which are notorious for catching fire when slight hint of over charge. Whereas EV use LFP or NMC battery have much more sophisticated battery management systems. They also tend to not charged to 100% that often, practically zero chance of overcharging. Finally, lower range variants tend to use no-cobalt, much safer LFP battery. https://www.evlithium.com/Blog/advanced-safety-features-of-lifepo4-batteries.html So I think it is disingenuous to taint all Li-on battery with one brush: infer BEV battery life from phones and fire risk from poorly made e-scooters or other simple portable device batteries.
  36. Yes, that sounds just like a golf R. 😂 I love it.
  37. Xhaust sounds much better than stock. Not quite GTi but a step in the right direction. That's what I've heard too. Just not prepared to do that whilst I'm leasing the car and under warranty. Amazing that gti, ni30's all play by the same EPA rules but sound like they should. I have to admit, can't understand why we can't retrofit the golf gti exhaust with adapters.
  38. What you describe is a possibility though from what I saw at Portbury (Bristol) dock look like it was complete discharging but I se no reason a car carrier could load up on some British cars before popping over to Germany to pick up some German cars as well. I was the customs officer for Mitsubishi cars, now part of Renault ofcourse, and there cars came in through Portbury Bristol and the docks area was/is a customs warehouse area so the cars would stay in duty suspense until called off days, weeks, month, possibly even a year or two later. Cars were from Far East and from Spain in to Portbury, Bristol. We held up to about 35,000 vehicles there. Bit surprised that Mazdas were not already going through Portbury, Bristol. I am mainly involved in container traffic now so main Felixstowe, Liverpool, London and Southampton, as well as air freight and some specialist road freight and multi port calls and it is not unusual that the order of European ports being visited for drops and collections can be altered at last moment due to weather and slots at the ports. Portbury has been limited to 6,000 TEU vessels and the Bristol Channel is not the easiest place to get in to but Bristol is nicely positioned to get cargo to English and Welsh cities within an hour or two. Had fun dealing with those customs entries where the cargo was valued in billions of yen !
  39. Try Bilstein B6 shock absorbers. You would have to use the standard ride height ones, but I doubt the extra 15mm of ride height would cause the Bilstein B6 shock absorbers any problems. This is because if you have ever jacked up your car to change a wheel, you will know that standard ride height shock absorbers extend quite a bit before the wheel lifts off the ground. Perhaps try changing the rear shock absorbers first. This is because they are cheaper than the front and the labour involved is a lot less than the front. If you are happy with the change, then go ahead and change the front. Another option is to use standard ride height springs with the Bilstein B6 shock absorbers. However, I think in keeping with the style of the Scout, keeping the increased ride height would be more appropriate. The Bilstein B6 shock absorbers should give the suspension excellent control, so I doubt you will need to lower the car to standard ride height. However, keep in mind Bilstein B6 shock absorbers combined with standard ride height springs if the shock absorbers on their own don't provide the desired effect. Many Superb MK3 owners aren't happy with the car's standard shock absorbers, so the Scout version with its 15mm increased ride height might simply make things worse.
  40. Ordered Milltek cat back non resonated exhaust. Waited about 2 months because some adapter was missing. Unfortunately after waiting they still forgot to send me that adapter to fit with oe downpipe (shown on first and second picture). Instead they sent me 2x MSVW482 which was too small to go from oe downpipe to the catback syatem (shown on 3rd and 4th picture). So had to make the adapter ourself to fit the exhaust (shown on 5th & 6th picture). And on top of that the clamps submitted by milltek were leaking after tightening bolts up so had to use sealant. But afterall managed to fit the cat back exhaust and now its making a bit more sound. First 30 sec with original exhaust after that with milltek non resonated cat back. Unfortunately video dont show that much difference, actually it is pretty ok.
  41. Not long ago had the rears changed on the Tiguan we used to have - dealer described them as "leaking" so the All In warranty covered them at 7.5yrs old (only about 40K miles though). They noticed this on the VHC while it was having a glow plug changed. Looking at the VHC video they looked exactly the same as they did on service and MOT 6 mths earlier but they weren't even commented on. "Misting" has been a VW thing for years - there was a service bulletin about it against a 2011 Golf we had after the fronts were noted as "misting". After it was 3yrs old I got it indie serviced and he put "misting" on the first MOT he did at 4yrs/40K. I showed him the bulletin and he dimmissed it as a load of rubbish. Next year he didn't mention them, but they were back on the next two MOTs he did. To be fair, didn't have any noticeable issue with them in the 7yrs/70K miles we had the car. I just looked up the Golf's MOT hstory and "misiting" is there as an advisory every year from 2015 to 2021, apart from 2016. It's not mentioned on the Oct 2022 MOT.
  42. Yes the values will change always, even if small difference the suspension work will improve after calibration, as you may know there's no two equal resistances from manufacture you always have a x% tolerance. Did you replaced coil springs together with mounting kits ? - If so, and if you have possibility, repeat the procedure after 300-500km, assuming new parts (coils/rubbers) will fit on place it may change a bit couple mm.. - "but it's not mandatory"
  43. Thats a heart warming story, thanks once again to the selfless Pete for helping others 👍 ECP have to be the worst offenders, I dont think they have even once tried to sell me the right parts, thankfully after the first painfull experience, also a wrong fuel filter that caused me no end of problems, I would always take the old part with me and even then had to argue against ignorance. There is a lot I miss no longer being able to visit England and source stuff TPS being at the top of the list, ECP are not missed at all.
  44. There is also the small matter of cost of living rises. Food, fuel, electrickery and gas, and in some cases the 3-4 holidays a year even these cost more😄
  45. Just wanted to update. I have now had AAWireless for about 3-4 weeks and absolutely satisfied with it. Decently fast pairing, newer had any hickups or any issues with it pairing. Sound is at the same quality as with direct bluetooth connection. And the resposiveness of the screen when typing in addresses and scrolling through Spotify is great. Definately a recommendation from me as well. Thanks to those that came with the suggestion. 🙂
  46. Hi Make sure you use a quality cable for android auto. I had connection issues in the past and found that the cheap cables were hopeless. also, just wondering if you have set up your driver profile in your car? Looks good though, once you get it fixed you will have no regrets 😁
  47. 04087 doesn't come up, the G28 is directly behind the flywheel, was a new crank oil seal fitted?
  48. Interesting, as you mention All, drivers and off, mine opens only the front, both sides via remote, and ill check later to see if i have the same options as do you! True, if you dont mind the insects, thats why i opted for the webasto/and stationary venting, so i dont have to open them, as here you do have a lot of critters during summer, and opening the windows is really a last resort!
