  1. I went up to Speyside over the weekend in an MPV that had an LPG conversion (lift sharing). Those LPG filling points are proper rare and hard to find, often being in some old gadger's yard. As a comparison I was metally noting all the places I could have charged my car if we had taken that - they were very frequent and available and fast. BEV on the road is easy - truth. The only time charging might have been awkward was Sunday lunchtime at Tebay services as they were rammed but as alluded to above my car would have informed me of this and I could have planned to charge elsewhere. I've decided to avoid Tebay in future if travelling on a Sunday, not because of a possible queue for a charger but because of queues for every other amenity. As an aside, we were visiting distilleries and most had destination chargers - ideal as most visits were 2 hours or more (taking the tour) to give a really good boost while doing something fun. PS Cairn Lodge services are a better bet if on M6/M74, not as busy as Tebay but run by the same company to the same standard.
  2. I can't agree with you on your first point, they seem poorer quality than I'd expect on a car, new or otherwise. Yes many owners who visit dealers for servicing or wherever don't always get a brake service each year, it's probably not on the service schedule to actually strip/clean and thoroughly check annually anyway. I've asked for dealers to actually remove the wheels and do the above in the past, not carried out, just a visual check. I don't use dealers anymore, got a local go to garage for stuff I can't handle, brakes I can replace myself ATM, they get a proper check annually.
  3. Yes i can. I can also tell the nav to only use those with x chargers free. The 2024 model V4.0 software improves on this even more, allowing preferred operators etc and now includes Tesla chargers open to all (Tesla nav only uses Tesla chargers)

Could it be just a blocked filter not allowing the pump to come up to operating pressure I doubt if the previous service would have even checked that, most don't even know there's a filter in there.? A lot cheaper to change than the pump.
  5. River glaven at night
  6. It is 8 years old. Sorry I'm recovering from a wee op yesterday so wasn't thinking too hard. I have both a Mk2 and Mk3. The Mk 2 has been brilliant and the Mk 3 an absolute nightmare. I'm going to order a new battery and take it from there.
  7. all by herself @cumbriavag
  8. The car was just over a year old when I bought it and the discs were quite rusty on the back. The pads were just using a thin strip in the centre of the disc. The dealers said they were "acceptable" but I didn't think they were. There are plenty of other posts on here with people having the same problem with their Kamiq at low mileages. My previous Skoda still had it's original discs at 124K miles. I decided to replace the discs and pads myself, as it is relatively easy to do if you are mechanically savvy, and avoid using Skoda parts. Since I have replaced them with some decent quality discs they have been fine. The quality of the metal on the original discs was very grainy and just looked poor.
  9. Wireless Android Auto works great on Karoq's with MIB 3 and 0330 update.
  10. Aberdeen airport park and ride. 47 pence as kWh. Chargers working and loads of emptiness at this time of evening. Another park and ride 5 miles away with charging and loads of commercial ones near now. Changed days. Fast enough charging for the MINI . It was at 52 kW.
  11. Thrilled to share a major milestone! We've officially launched the first ever vRS Owners Club in the UAE. We've got a strong foundation of 24 members already, and the hunt's on to expand the pack! Check out some pics from a recent meet-up.
  12. its so lovely to still see some of these being kept in such good condition. when i joined back in 2012, with my first mk1 (1.9 ALH Diesel) i loved what the crew then were doing with their vrs's. Billy's black one right up until he gave up and scrapped it was mint 😞 Mark's (Bowders1) was stunning and rapid. and of course the lowest milage mk1 in existence - Lloyd55's corrida red that he couldnt stop doing things to, other than drive feckin thing there was a couple of others too at least one banana yellow that was a sleeping demon. keep it up @dubDEAN she's looking gorgeous
  13. Dear all, I have turned off WiFi and turned on the e-sim, I will wait and see what happens. I still have about 10 days to the service whereupon I can ask the dealer to update the Infotainment system software and map navigation database as required. Thank you once again for the help and advice
  14. Absolutely, I’m frankly bored of seeing umpteen posts about disc corrosion when actually 99% of it is normal vag characteristics. Literally seconds after you drive the car again and use the brakes the so called “rust” has gone. It’s normal. I’ve had VAG cars for more years than I can be bothered to remember and not once have I ever faced near death because of a bit of surface rust. Chill, Jesus😂
  15. I had our OE battery replaced when it finally died in October with a RAC branded Varta Silver Dynamic AGM 570 901 076 battery. Very slightly more powerful but at least it should be fine for the next few years.
  16. Hi All, thanks for the information. I currently subscribe to 'Infotainment Online' and 'Care Connect', but not the 'Data Plan'. My car connects successfully to my home WiFi. The Head Unit Software version is also lagging behind it seems at 1806! the car is due for an oil change towards the end of the Month, I will have words with the Dealer! Kind regards, Alan
  17. Next time it happens try the stops if you can find somewhere safe. Worth checking the wishbone bushes , faces of the hub etc too (as mentioned by another poster) Never had problems with warping, but hot pads will leave deposits on discs (for example hard stop or lots of braking) then standing on the brakes rather than using the handbrake.
  18. Thats company leasing car. Quite large part of those kilometers comes from me driving around finland doing maintenance. 😄
  19. Bump for @Warrior193
  20. Hi @AlanOsborne If you're paying for the Infotainment online subscription then the system should be automatically downloading the map updates for you. There shouldn't be any need to manually download the map updates. I'm currently subscribed to infotainment online. I've just checked my map version and it's showing as 24.5, so it last updated in May 2024. The previous update was 24.2 (February). Maybe call your local dealer if it's not downloading for you, as it's part of the service you are paying for. If you're not subscribed to infotainment online, then you will need to download manually. I've heard the download portal does lag a little behind what is downloaded direct to cars, but 23.6 is nearly a year behind, which seems a lot.
  21. If you're car is 10 years old, it can't be a Mk3 but it's a Mk2. Most fault codes will probably be similar, but some of them might be specific to Mk2.
  22. Yep best bet, I take it you know the things you need to change in vcds etc to “code” it in? Entirely up to you but get Varta A7 if you have AGM and if you want to This is what I’ll be getting, my car needs a new one imminently
  23. I think maybe a fair number have closed since you stopped using LPG. We had an 'LPG Finder' app (remarkably similar to EV charging apps) and there was nothing on / near our route home from Grantown-on-Spey down the A9. There was an out of service one at Perth. We got filled with LPG at Hamilton Morrisons south of Glasgow which we had a short wait for as both nozzles were in use. The reduction in filling points is making the remaining ones a little busier. My driver was a little shocked at the lack of filling points as he is new to LPG. Using mainly petrol for running about made a pricey weekend fuel wise. (Whisky made it a pricey weekend anyway!) The parallels between scarce LPG filling stations and charge points were interesting.
  24. Electrical gremlins on these cars are often caused by a failing battery. As above get it tested and not just by a guy with a multimeter when the car is off. Check it off load, engine running, just after running, a while after running at a few points in time. Basically try to get an understanding on how it charges and then how it recovers. If it's the original battery then 10 years is a long time for a modern car with stop start.
  25. AFAIK the dotted area is within range, the two solid lines indicating min and max, at cold.
  26. Thanks, I will keep the air fare option as plan B 😉
  27. So I have my car now - nothing in way of compo from dealer or skoda - they said the original agreed date for delivery was 20 june anyway - oh well - anyway got car and dealer says it was all cars throughout range with DSG boxes and it was now also extended to SEATS as well - i think he mentioned Altcas specifically. I will start a new thread on any differences i note from my older 21sports line - as i notice them!
  28. Pretty sure it's the 1.2 TSI engines that have problems with fuel rail bolts. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/468348-fuel-leak/#comment-5257257
  29. If the original front springs have a wire diameter of 13mm and they are changed to front springs with a wire diameter of 13.75mm, they will be about 15% stiffer than standard...all other things being equal such as the number of coil turns. I suggest you try going for softer but longer springs than these, so that the unladen ride height is about the same but without making the front suspension too hard. Bear in mind, that different brands will often have slightly different ideas of what the specification is of a particular OEM part number. For example, Suplex list their Suplex 39686 as having a wire diameter of 13.75mm even though Suplex sell this spring to replace the same OEM part number (ie. 5Q0411105DR) as the Eibach R22922. Looking at the figures, I suspect the Eibach R22922 would increase the front unladen ride height of the Octavia MK3 2.0TDI Scout by about 10mm. If you change the tyres from the standard 225/50R17 to 215/55R17 (perhaps with a change of rim specification, eg. to 6.5Jx17 ET38 from the standard 7Jx17 ET45) you would get an additional 5.75mm of lift. So with the change of front springs and the change of tyres, the front unladen ride height should increase by about 15mm compared to the standard Scout. Eibach R22922 front springs (match 5Q0411105DR) Length 333mm Wire diameter 13.25mm Number of coil turns 4.8 https://www.autodoc.co.uk/eibach/18259219#coil-spring Outside diameter of tyres 225/50R17 656.8mm 215/55R17 668.3mm (11.5mm increase in outside diameter compared to 225/50R17) Continental AllSeasonContact 2 215/55R17 94V (Euro label B B 70dB) https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rshop/tyre/Continental/AllSeasonContact-2/215-55-R17-94V-EVc/D-127980 Alcar 9021 6.5Jx17 ET38 5/112 57.1 steel rim (from Kodiaq) https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rims/details?vehicleId=639488607098246256&rimCode=ALCAR9021https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rims/details?vehicleId=639488607098246256&rimCode=ALCAR9021
  30. Mine have stayed dry, so far. Yours should be fixed under warranty really, also if a headlight is holding water/condensation inside the lens it would be a RWC fail. Not certain if same applies to fog lights, but it might. Anyhow, it might bolster your case if there's an argument!
  31. I had same issue with octopus intelligent so I just use the Skoda app instead, set to charge the car at night during the off-peak window and I’ve not had any issues with it charging since off the granny charger.

Got an obdeleven scanner to take a look. Fault code coming up is 00448 Haldex clutch pump "lower limit not reached" which I'm guessing is the same as "lower limit exceeded" which there is more info available online. I'm planning on buying this kit and replacing pump with oil and filter. https://www.haldexrepairs.co.uk/shop/repair-and-service-kits/gen-4-vw-audi-seat-skoda-haldex-pump-kit-0ay598549a/
  33. It's nothing to do with the quality of the brakes, it's short trips and cars being stood about not doing the miles. Also people don't get their brakes serviced, which they should do every year or 2 in my opinion as a professional.
  34. 21 months and 98000km later. 😅

St Pancras Priory, otherwise known as Lewes Priory, East Sussex: I worked in Lewes for about 16 years all told. Today's the first time I've ever visited it. Quite an interesting place to meander around. Gaz
  36. My car has a notional range of 240 miles but realistically it does 215 in the summer, 200 in the winter. That is fine because my regular trip is just Livingston to Milton Keynes which is only 380 miles. It takes 6 hours by train or 7.5 hours by car (including stops). I stick by the Army's rules on driving which require me to take a break every two hours. In those breaks I plug the car in while I wander over to the loo. Like I said recently, the last trip back needed 12 minutes at Stafford for the loo and to grab a coffee to go, and 24 minutes at Tebay for dinner. I simply would not drive a whole day without a break as it would be foolish in the extreme to do so.

To my knowledge, all 245s have the VAQ diff (mine definitely does, as I've had it serviced). Someone did a very good summary of this a while ago when I was looking for mine but I can't find it now. But from memory: Pre-facelift 230 has the VAQ Facelift 230 does not have the VAQ Facelift 245 does have the VAQ
  38. It's a bolted-in assembly that you replace. No pulling involved.
  39. You don't need such an expensive dongle, go for an AliExpress one and you will be fine. I have being using this one (the usb stick format) since December and it is flawess https://a.aliexpress.com/_Eza2D8R The usb port shuts off shortly after you lock the car so no drain there
  40. Given the state of some of the streets, a VERY heavy cut pad
  41. Reading the thread title literally, I wondered how you’d go about it…🤔
  42. They're intermiscible but make sure any future topups are the later spec. More to the point, where's the leak!
  43. Just removed my climatronic blower using instructions here. Most excellent. I did it without removing the glovebox. I have the motor some contact cleaner and it’s working again. A slight whine now, so will order another assuming it is in its way out, but the swap is very quick and easy.
  44. It is literally exactly as Sanmart described. 5mins, most of which is getting your body into an awkward position.
  45. So is there a how to on this subject am attempting this on the mother in laws tomorrow. Fans speeds all lighting up on the dash but nothing working blower wise. 2012 superb with Columbus controls.
  46. Anti clockwise from under iirc. And if you look under the scuttle on the passenger side you should see a threaded screw hole ( believed to be for a l/h drive cars wipers), this is where water can enter and drop down onto the blower motor. I squirted some silicon into mine...problem solved.
  47. Same problem with mine last week, took it out and gave it a good clean , wd40 and it runs like new .it had actually seized
  48. Same problem for me - 2012 Superb Estate Elegance Petrol 4x4. Thanks to these posts I had the motor out, freed up with some WD40 and back here writing this post 10 mins later. Mine was just a bit stiff (too little use during Corona lockdown) and freed easily. I didn’t even remove the plug so was able to ascertain it worked ok before re-installing. A word of caution, make sure the fan assembly is properly seated when fitting it back in. Mine was slightly ‘cross threaded’ the first time I put it in and didn’t work (presumably the fan itself has very little clearance so was jamming). Keep up the good work everyone - this is a great resource!
