  1. "Honey, I shrunk the C5"
  2. It’d need to be scanned to confirm of course.
  3. Stunning 👌 Especially love the Audi 👍
  4. Not necessary unless previous oil changes have been badly neglected, or the oil has been contaminated with coolant - I think most engine manufacturers state that flushing oil should not be used. In the case where flushing is thought to be required, use regular lube oil, then dump.
  5. Spring has arrived, so it was a good reason to wash Gandalf, after a long overdue 5 month draught, and take some updated pics afterwards. Some rolling shots...

I hope all is well Rob and you're still enjoying what looks to be an amazing life, imagine if you hadn't taken the jump to leave Leeds? think of all those experiences you would have missed! The Quattro was just another stepping stone and I'm sure greater adventures will come your way (just different kinds of adventure). Matthew

I had this once. Was very scarey, but luckily only for a few moments. (It was in my old octy) It was worse when I was doing 70, and then the ACC went down to 10mph (I think it must have seen a motorway roadworks sign)
  8. @Balazs yes, you will get color grid menu. All check your PMs for dwonload links. Just a reminder: 1. format SD (best max 32GB) under FAT32 2. unpack to root (metainfo2.txt and all the folders must be placed directly on SD, not in any folder) 3. insert SD card into the slot 4. enter Service Menu (long press MENU button)
  9. Both are the EA211 - the 1.5 is the newer Evo version, compared to the older 1.4. Some of the later 1.4 engines had ACT/CoD (SEAT called it an EcoTSI), which was a brilliant little engine - I had a 150ps version in my Leon. I had a 2016 Leon, which was one of the last 1.4 models, yet my car had a kangarooing issue with the clutch (it was a manual too). I never got to the bottom of it. FWIW @Terrierist the split headlights give it away.

  11. Hello Guys! Just wanted to introduce me here! I’m michael, 36 years and i live in the south of The Netherlands! Drove a Leon ST Fr with some mods for about 8 years, but because of a broken pano roof we needed to switch cars. Thats when we bought a Skoda Superb iV FL Sportline in steel gray! I always loved the sporty but yet decent look of the superb. We got the superb second handed from 2020 with 78K kilometers. Didnt do any massive upgrades yet, beside a new front logo, black grill and painted the rear oem sportline diffuser in gloss black. Also got a Stage 1 and stage 2 DSG and now running +- 310HP combined and 530NM. In the future i want to mount a eibach pro kit, some decent 19 or 20” rims, dcc slider mod, maxton kit all around, and a brake upgrade because the iV brakes are not that good in my opinion. Thanks for the welcome and happy to be part of this active community to do some Research and get some inspiration! Greetings from the other side of the ocean!
  12. Why this upgrade? (I'll post some more pictures of the process today)I drive a Skoda Superb Combi 1.4 iV PHEV Sportline (MQB platform), and while it's a comfortable cruiser, I always felt the stock 288 mm brakes were underwhelming, especially during emergency braking. As a volunteer firefighter, I sometimes need to get to the station quickly. I found the stopping power to be insufficient for such a heavy car (1.8 tons), I also own a 2004 Audi RS6 C5, which has 8-piston Brembo front brakes — and the difference is night and day. While the RS6 is more powerful and performance-focused, it made me realize just how undersized the brakes on the Superb iV are, especially when you need to stop hard from higher speeds. That’s what motivated me to upgrade to a proper 340 mm OEM front brake setup, as found on GTI/Cupra models. so I upgraded to a 340 mm front brake setup. Similar to what’s used on Golf GTI / Cupra Leon / Golf GTE. MQB(Evo) platform I also installed: Hardrace rear sway bar DCC module tweak greatly improved braking and handling stability. Eibach Pro kit I sourced all parts from a scrapyard, except for the dust shields, which I ordered new from the dealer. That makes this a budget-friendly OEM-style upgrade — not a fancy aftermarket setup, but a factory-matching improvement that fits perfectly on the MQB(EVO)-based Superb. Good donor cars to look for: Golf 7 GTI Cupra Leon (5F or KLCF) Golf GTE / Octavia RS / Cupra Formentor Most of these use the exact FN3 caliper with 340 mm front discs. Partslist: Part OEM Number Qty Notes Brake caliper + carrier 5Q0615105EG (L) / 5Q0615106EG (R) 1 set FN3 calipers from GTI/Cupra/Formentor Brake discs 340x30mm 5Q0615301G 2 Vented, for FN3 caliper Brake pads – 1 set Match FN3 caliper (ATE, Ferodo, etc.) Carrier bolts N90678001 4 Stretch bolts, always use new ones Dust shields 5Q0615311F (L) / 5Q0615312F (R) 2 Required for 340 mm clearance Brake fluid (DOT 4) 1–1.5L ATE Typ 200 recommended InstallationIt's easier to turn the wheels in the direction you're going to work on. Raise the car and remove the wheel Remove the old caliper and disc ( You can leave the old caliber hanging on the line until you have the new one in place.) Install the larger dust shield (or trim the old one to fit) Fit the new 340x 30 mm disc Clean the hub and apply copper grease to prevent rust Bolt the caliper carrier in place Torque spec: 200 Nm + 90° angle Mount the brake pads and caliper on the carrier (DIS)Connect the brake hose Keep it upright or temporarily plug it to avoid leaks Bleed the brakes With a helper or transparent hose in fluid Sequence: RR → LR → RF → LF Check for: Leaks, Firm pedal, Fluid level in reservoir Test drive at low speed Verify pedal feel, brake balance, and straight braking
  13. Greetings @MCMikeyJ and welcome to Briskoda. Glad you're happy with the Superb so far. Plenty of info in the Superb forums. Make yourself at home and feel free to join in the social zones as well 👍
  14. @Dean I believe the MkIII 2.0 190PS has a 60 litre tank with a six litre reserve so four litres short of the seventy. I suspect the 1.6 would have the same tank fitted 🤷‍♂️
  15. …..and it could well be the ABS sensor as @Berisford said…
  16. I thought that too, but wasn’t getting any hits on Google even with spelling changes. Tried it with vignette (which I remembered from ooooold chat about the windscreen clip 😂) and got hits about the nav settings 🤷🏻‍♂️
  17. So did a bit of testing over the weekend, findings:- When you enable wifi via tethering to your mobile, Carplay disconnects...BUT it will then reconnect if you then manually enable it. So...you then have BOTH Carplay & tethering active at once. If you then leave the car for a couple of minutes then re-enter the tethering will reconnect - but it seems to take about a minute to do so. However if you leave the car then enter it say the next day the old issue of having to re-enable tethering on the iphone returns (is there a way to have it always on?) As a side issue - the phone function on the car never used to display my contacts (until I created a few speed dials a week ago, its been ok since then....) until today, contacts all missing again. Then I found that I had to reconnect via Bluetooth and all contacts are there again. This seems to happen maybe once or twice a week. surely this shouldn't be happening? SOOO many issues with this car...
  18. It’s saying “Attention vignette required” which is a message that you may have to pay a toll. The car doesn’t know you have an annual pass. Go into the settings for the navigation and there’s an option to turn it off. https://www.vwidtalk.com/threads/turning-off-the-%E2%80%9Cattention-toll-road-ahead%E2%80%9D-announcement.8977/
  19. Are you travelling somewhere where a ticket or travel pass, maybe even a toll payment is required? It could be a mispronounciation of the French for ticket or something.
  20. Personally, I think this is clear sign of technical progress. Things only appreciate when new things isn't better than old. I'm very used to things like this. Pretty much all my hobby involves buying varying degree of depreciating things: computer, photography, photo drones, smart home, energy products. Latest addition is upgrade to multi-gig WIFI 7 throughout the house with full Unifi "stack". The WIFI 6 router was sold for less than 1/3 of my purchase price.
  21. Far too many folks in this thread think they know more that the manufacturer. As a reminder, if you fail to operate your vehicle using the settings and specifications provided by the manufacturer you MAY commit a road traffic offence and you MAY invalidate your insurance. As such then giving advice which encourages other forum members to ignore, change or modify critical functions can create a liability. TBH @nta16 if you don't really like VAG products then don't buy them, that way VAG will get the message.
  22. This was never claimed. I only pointed out that the title does not match the content. The content did not talk about increased cost to insure EV's. Because the title fitted what you wanted to believe, you clearly didn't read more into the content to see what Thatcham and others are actually saying. In simple terms, they are saying we need better battery repair infrastructure. I did not disagree with anything. If you are still talking about the Autocar article, again, I only pointed out that the title does not match the content. Talk about digging your own hole and getting into it.

Quite normal, no problem. Any rust on the faces will burn off at the next application. My 1990 Audi 90 20v used to eat vented front brake discs as a light snack when I ran it as my company car, changed at every other service at around 20,000 miles while the pads lasted around 2 1/2 discs..... I did use Greenstuff pads though for less black dust and better intitial bite.

+1 on 'normal'. I switched to VBT discs after the the rim on both front and rear brakes got too much, but that was after 5+ years' daily use.
  25. Human mistake like getting magnetic fields and microwaves mixed up. Make haste proclamation, regret at leisure. The Mini insurance went down loads compared to the hybrid Clio. Probably as much to do with readjustment after the post covid spike but going from 145 to 185 hp and a more expensive car but insurance from petrol hybrid to EV almost halved. Nice. Offsets the higher PCP payments with the cheaper insurance, fuel costs and cheaper servicing !
  26. The special discount of 3 times the "normal" discount, usually about 5% but sometime a bit more when dealers need to sell a few more to hit the next target level and tap in to another 1 or 2 % themselves has been there are long as I have been buying new ie over 30 years ago when I bought my Skoda Felecia, before VW even fully owned Skoda. Always been like this, not really different today. Car companies like Ford and GM have mega discounts, particularly to fleet buying companies. Skoda did the great "we pay the VAT" deals about 20 years ago, mega deal for mega cars ie TSI VRSs. What I was talking to the dealer Renault dealer was this "Blue Light" type discount, 3 times the normal discount because of that one is, or was, a certain occupation. I am being offered this due to being CSMA member ie ex Civil Servant. Only downside is not getting the 0% finance but that is fine as I am due to get my retirement lump sum soon. I don't know the dealer psychology of offering certain segment of UK society much more discount but it is quite a wide industry thing, more so by European car makers than Korea or Japanese firms maybe ? Just happy to get it, free metallic paint as well as the hyper discount !! Probably applies to ICE as well as EVs but EV was the only option I wanted.
  27. Thanks for asking! Yes, it's covered by warranty here 👍
  28. To update on my case - they said it's the first unit to face the reported problem in Singapore! The whole headunit will need to be replaced, parts coming by Thursday. Have left the car with them as this is causing my 12v battery to be drained overnight.
  29. This guy's is an Australian an not British also 1000% anti EV because it gets him yt likes If you're gonna post some thing post it about the country we live in not one the other side of the world ! I've had or have 3 ev's in the last 3years and none were brought with government help 2 were/are on PcP one is hp the latter was only £7750 and well speced used car .

    Agreed, this is normal
  31. If the modules detect a low voltage (or no voltage) they will all throw a code. Very normal. You can usually clear most of them by taking it for a drive and going lock to lock, or just clear them with a scanner.

@pinkpanther By coincidence, someone has just posted on one of the FB groups that they've done the same thing on a Sportline. Spare wheel 215/60/16 with boot kit 57A093860C. I believe you have to go for the 16" as it's a narrower rim & slightly smaller diameter that fits the boot kit.

Alternatively ratchet strap a full spare to the side wall. Looks a bit weird but works a treat. Mine’s a 4x4 version so I’ve automatically lost a but of floor depth so mounting it “normally” gives too much of a letter-box boot. Plus I loose a fair bit of volume either side of the wheel.
  34. Sorry meant to reply to warrior193 yes miles. I got car at 200km. Sold at 200 miles. Sump ,exhaust ,glow plugs was alli needed to change. It was sold as I needed to do timing belt ,clutch and flywheel . Also injector was giving trouble so I took an offer on the car. Then bought another!

  36. I had the following observation on last years MOT Nearside Front Shock absorbers has light misting of oil (5.3.2 (b)) Offside Front Shock absorbers has light misting of oil (5.3.2 (b)) This years MOT with still the same shock absorbers no observations
  37. Nah. I had advisories for misting on the front shocks of my mk2 Golf for several consecutive years. Then I had a clean MOT, so I asked the tester, "what about the oil misting", to which he answered "all the oil's probably gone". 🤣 Was a few years back, mind.
  38. Came across a fly on an apple earlier - guessing it's feeding?
  39. Our Fabia turned 20 last December I think. Still does A to B admirably, and I really don't give that many effs at all what anyone else thinks of it.
  40. Look, the manufacturer tells you to code in the new battery for a reason. As has been mentioned the cars battery management will adapt over time to the old battery and it's reduced capability. Cut out all the hoping, guessing and faffing about, just go and get the new battery coded to the car. Unless you like buying batteries, in which case do nothing.
  41. The most eco car you'll ever buy is the one you keep the longest I believe is the thinking
  42. Yes, that’s the best thing to do. I would absolutely do as everyone else has suggested.
  43. Are you using a charging cable or a data cable? A charging cable won't work but a data cable might. They look the same, sadly.
  44. A step on the journey to financial freedom and affording to retire before I’m 80 years old.

  46. Yeti camping project. Bought in 2017 and I found a Frenchman (Fat Betha 3.0) who had built a luggage base and bed (approx. 195cm lying length x 155/100.) Just had to try 😂. 6 years now as a camper. Works great! Tall, short Thule box take medium-sized Smart boxes. Awnings 2x2.5m and 2,5x2,5m. Awning tent from Expedition Norway. Car tent from Outwell if we are going to stay the same place over many days. . Michelin Latitude Cross 215/65 16. Plasti dipped OEM alu rims. Happy to help with tips if anyone wants to try.
  47. Hi both Thanks so much for the advice. I whipped the lights out and bumper off for the 4th time and removed the smaller gearbox. As you can see, the cable had slipped off the cam and so whilst it was pulling up it wasn’t actuating the other cable. Unit was a bit of a pig to separate. The red bit that had snapped off appeared to be some kind of stopper to stop the cam rotating too far back and may have caused the cable to come off? No visible damage to the cam pulley itself so refuted the cable and all now works! 👍 Posting as much for any future visitors as to say thanks.
