  2. The ABS coding for Maxi-Dot control is different from that used with a hardware button.
  3. Thanks. I did that and no options were there. Wondering if this means the Skoda tech is too recent to recognise the i pod which is over 10 years old. Any ideas how to play my fav music now? There's not even a CD player!
  4. It's gone quiet. I have formatted several discs and put music on them, but no, nothing. Although one card was recognised but the car responded with "No music on card" I think I'm barking up the wrong tree here. Never mind.
  5. The ADAC say different. October 2nd https://www.adac.de/news/auto-rueckruf-vw-audi-lenkung/ You can check using your VIN here (I don't have a VIN for Skoda to check myself). https://recall.skoda-auto.com/107/de-de
  6. O.k thanks, I made some progress but not there yet. I compared my long code with yours after following vcds labels for byte change and there was a difference. I assumed if I copied and pasted your long code then all the ABS coding would be correct including the unlabelled byte. Did that. Then enabled virtual module 4C in the Gateway installation list and for the first time the scan came back listing 4C without errors. At IGN on boot I didn't see the tyre dash icon or additional tyre settings in the display. Then I enabled Tyre pressure II in instruments and the icon came up. I went to dash settings store and that worked until I tried to actually store and the confirmation 'Tyre pressures not stored' was given. I'm puzzled about this because tyre pressures aren't measured or stored by indirect ABS TPMS. The Tire pressure warning stayed stuck on the dash screen and through IGN ON reboot. Reset via basic settings in ABS screen confirmed TPMS was active, and after reset the screen block message changed, but the icon still remained stuck on. I read ABS TPMS reset via vcds didn't work for one poster (Although the helper text said it should without the switch). I'm wondering if there are at least 2 different TPMS systems and messages in the display aren't for indirect ABS so the warning stays lit because it gets garbage data and requires the hard wired reset switch on the ABS controller? It would make sense after coding and enabling to set the warning to default on, then have to reset to test the switch which I've now discovered after holding 2-3 seconds gives a confirmation ding. When the switch kit arrives I'll explore getting the ABS switch wire through the firewall to test my theory. This is important too: Deflated one of the rear tires slightly, by about 8% (38 -> 35). Drove about 5 miles. No warning light. Deflated same tire by about 20% of original value (38 -> 31). TPMS warning light appeared after about a mile. Deflating from 38 to 31 is a big change, although it might have lit at 10% but still took longer than what I'd expect. Thinking some, road conditions (and potholes!) will cause changes in tyre rolling radius as suspension moves up and down and they may want to factor in average background error noise. Thanks for your help.
  7. It's doing well if 5+ years old. After the problems we had with my wife's EV 12v battery (2 x AA call outs for no start events) I fitted this battery monitoring device so I could keep an eye on the battery health. Of course with a new battery everything is fine but it's a peace of mind type thing for when battery get older. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08VHMJYXY?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details
  8. You might find the linked pdf useful. I have the full wiring diagram if you need it but it's too large a file to upload on here. Let me know if you need it and we sort an alternative method of getting it to you. Electrical system.pdf
  9. My original Varta AGM will be 14 years old in January. Another test for it will be early January when it won't have been used for 6 weeks (off to warmer climes) It's a no brainer I'll get another Varta. Do the prices include coding?
  10. By no recall what's being meant is no official SAFETY recall on the UK Government website. It's telling that the VW Hub even uses the word "campaign", meaning they have (once again) apparently persuaded "the powers that be" that a safety issue is not a safety issue so can be handled as a Service Campaign or Voluntary Recall.
  11. EFB is cheaper so tends to be fitted in Production in preference to AGM which (due to its construction) has better CCA performance and usually longer life.
  12. That ABS module is definitely capable of indirect TPMS - being a Yeti has nothing to do with it VCDS is asking the gateway which is correctly stating there is an unregistered module. Neither VCDS or the gateway know if it's a real module or a virtual one, regardless you need to add 4C to the gateway installation list and then it's fixed. For example, "46-Central Conv" is shown in your installation list currently - however, that's also a virtual module (created by 09). It's not unusual in the VAG world. I don't think there is much documentation about the learning procedure. I would guess at least 10-15 minutes of 15mph+ driving should get a OK baseline and hopefully a complete calibration after an hour or so. Just as an example from another forum regarding indirect TPMS on a MK60EC1: Drove about 50 miles with equally inflated, sensorless tires. No TPMS light or other warnings on dash Deflated one of the rear tires slightly, by about 8% (38 -> 35). Drove about 5 miles. No warning light. Deflated same tire by about 20% of original value (38 -> 31). TPMS warning light appeared after about a mile. edit: Slightly older MK60EC1 in another Yeti showing it working without the phycial button. They had to use VCDS to reset the learning each time instead: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/192503-yeti-with-tpms-switch-abs-module-coding-required/ The extra coding changes and adding 4C is only required to enable reset via maxidot cluster. They also suggest an hour calibration drive.

  14. Which is critria for doubt to be efb or agm? I didnt know tdi have efb.. renault od their dci engines originally uses agm batteries.

  18. Hi everyone! Greetings from France! I'm the owner of a 2001 Škoda Fabia Mk1 (6Y) Classic, and I enjoy maintaining it and carrying out OEM-style retrofits. I'm particularly interested in the electrical systems, factory wiring and adding original equipment that wasn't fitted to the car when new. I've already found some very useful technical discussions here, so I decided to join the community. Looking forward to learning from other Fabia owners and sharing my progress! Cheers!
  19. @Prillerthriller May I ask from where you obtained the kit comprising the two Hella horns and that included the supplementary 'splitter' wiring harness? I notice that there's a current advert on AliExpress for the two Hella horns and splitter harness for £11.59 + £7.39 delivery. For around £20 and (reasonably) straightforward installation, it would almost be a no-brainer.

  21. Hi, I've moved your request to Octavia MkIV seeing as you list your car as a 24 plate. Hopefully someone will pop along to help out.

  23. Any advice will be welcome. Just bought Octavia 24 plate. It has a USB-C portal. I've got an 10 year old+ Apple i pod which I had in my old car but even with an adapter and everything connected, I can't find an option on the media screen to access my I pod. Any ideas please. Thanks

  25. I have looked about and apparently the S3 subframe fits as do the Passat wishbones but don't want to order it all unless I am sure it works such like the lighter hubs etc any advice welcomed if you have done the swap or not if it doesn't work
  26. WTF. I was at the charging hub with my dogs and it is busy with only 3 rapids out of 4 working. People keep trying the out of order one. A brand new on trade plates Audi, top of the range pulled in. The guy looked like he never knew what to do. I went over. He was going to use the tethered AC 43 kW cable. I asked if he wanted to slow charge, he said it can only use that charger, he had been at NcDonalds and the charger would not fit. He was correct. Both ports on both fronts wings had AC ports only. No CCS. No removable cap. It was moulded plastic. As it was his phone or credit card would not work. He is delivering the car. 70 miles range showing and 70 to go near as damn it if no diversions. Last 30 miles are motorway, Off he went. He said he would just get it recovered if need be.

  28. Thanks I'll recheck the long coding and just try to match the bytes. I did find a web post refering to virtual module 4C. The comment was that vcds was including it in the Gateway list (which then throws errors) when they should have masked it out as invisible. I'm always aware diagnostics relies on the software writer interpretation. I perhaps rely too much on the helper for Byte coding. On previous versions of vcds they incorrectly linked the wrong label files. Label files are the human friendly text created by Ross-Tech. IMHO ECU label files don't always match what you have. My Yeti has ESC et Al and some comments I found suggested indirect ABS TPMS may not be possible. But I'll persevere. Any idea of mileage for the ABS TPMS learning phase and can I expect it to be inactive until it's learned? I am testing by letting air out of a tyre after coding and vcds reset, but it occurs to me, many may change the coding and not actually test immediately after.
  29. You have my sympathies, it’s a nightmare situation, I had the bonnet stuck shut on my Golf - I was amazed at how difficult all the workarounds were…….
  30. It is usually more than just an LED such as door open indicator. Have a look for a broken wire in the drivers door to door frame rubber trunking.
  31. No recall? Not what I've seen!
  32. Even if 5w 40 FS VW 502 00 non long life oil of the correct saps was more expensive than VW,s recommended Long Life oil be it VW504 00 507 00 or 508 00 / 509 i would use the 5w 40 FS in a TSI pre or post 2018 & do oil changes at 10,000 miles 12 months or sooner. I run cars and get the fuel consumption and emissions i get, i do not run a car on a Rolling Road indoor as VW Group do for the old tests and the new one. In the old regime they run TDI,s with diesel in the engine oil. Well VW / Audi / SEAT did at times.
