TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
I drove in Germany two years ago while on holiday and must admit their TMC is probably the best in whole Europe. While using factory fitted sat nav with latest maps in Mondeo 2015 at this time it route divertion from traffic on autobhan better than google, where google pushed into the middle of traffic ,factory sat nav with TMC provided much better route and allows to bypass whole traffic (no connection to online services). I never had that accurate situation in UK while TMC was still on, but was better to have something than nothing. Looks like Waze time and android auto.

The industry found a way to make us have to pay subscriptions? No such thing as a free lunch?

TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
It is a crying shame that so many motorists have the technology, but nobody has an obligation to provide the service as intended. I've just spent good money updating maps, figuring that the Traffic aspect would make it worth paying good money for, only to learn that it doesn't. In theory (a half-baked idea), it sounds like there could be a market for a product not far altered from my BT/FM Transmitter, which I find so useful for hands-free. The device would need to be fed a traffic stream (from a phone app) via BT, and then FM Transfer to the Head. It would however, tie you to having the Head tuned to an FM channel that might be less satisfying than regular FM broadcasts, unless you could organise bursts of data transfer, perhaps when alerted to there being queued data.

12 Evs that could be bargains
As long as they suit the circumstances the buyer has to address. Created by AI? and the link starts at the list but the whole thing is an interesting and pretty accurate reflection of the market. Particularly the bit where depreciation is addressed relative to the actual prices paid for new vehicles.

Head Gasket?
Any sign of water in the sump? Rising oil level? I'd be a bit suspiscious of the diagnosis if you have white smoke coming out of the exhaust.

Inexplicable tyre deflation - no puncture, valve OK
Thanks for your further thoughts. I inflated the tyre to 40psi and then dropped it to my usual 33psi and all seemed well for a couple of short runs. Then I had to make a longer trip along the A27 between Havant and Chichester, the direct route but for about 8 miles it has no junctions. About half way along the tyre noise ominously changed and by the time I was able to get safely out of the carriageway the pressure had dropped to just over 20psi. Took the wheel to Kwik-Fit for a repair only to be told it wasn't repairable; in this case I had unknowingly run the tyre flat for about 100m when I drove out of the drive and back in on that first day so I can believe that the sidewalls had been damaged although I'm surprised how these days so many punctures "can't be fixed" and you have to have a new tyre. More regulation than in the old days perhaps? Not the end of the world, the rear tyres had both been picked up at MOT in May as advisory because of a deep cut through the tread but not to the cords and I was down to around 3mm of tread so I'm changing them both tomorrow. What did surprise me was the range of prices quoted - for me Halfords were nearly £100 cheaper than Kwik-Fit although my wallet will still be £350 lighter by tomorrow night. (A couple of other sites were very close to the Halfords price so Kwik-Fit were very much the outlier). The bill would have been higher if I had 17" rather than the "special" 16" wheels as the larger tyre comes in £25-£30 dearer per tyre. So thank you those early members on this forum that let me joining the 16" Special Wheels Club back in 2013.

Columbus Sales & Repair.
Hi, I would message directly, do you offer diagnostics for repairs? Bluetooth works Nav does not Every few minutes the screen has a small white flash/stripe through the centre of screen lasting less than a second. This happens when engine is on, ignition on, ignition off, key out and even when the car is locked. Drain battery. So having to jump it each time. Thanks Thank Alex

Retrofite Blind Spot...
Ok thanks. Sounds similar to the behaviour of the aftermarket kit. Will have a go at installing aftermarket and see how well it works. If it works ok I’ll order the OEM lights and mount them into the mirrors.

Latest software version for Skoda 5Q0035842C Infotainment Unit?
Vehicle is 2019 Octavia Combi SE. It is fitted with a 5Q0035842C infotainment unit which I think is a "Bolero". The unit reports it is an H41 hardware unit with 0475 software revision installed. Can anyone tell me what the latest software revision is for that unit or a link where I can find out ?

Retrofite Blind Spot...
Guten Morgen. Good morning. With the OEM settings, you can adjust the brightness. In this setting, they illuminate constantly, except in a dangerous situation such as a lane change. In that case, the LED is always at its brightest and flashes extremely rapidly. When a vehicle is detected, the LED illuminates at the selected brightness for as long as the control unit specifies. Coding is a bit involved.

Finding an Internal drivers door door opener for a Skoda Superb Elegance 2005 in the Uk or beyond!
Just make sure you order the correct one for the drivers door. Have had a few bits and pieces and so far so good. I tend to use a bank account I hardly use for payment just in case. Alasdair

Skoda approved purchase, but only had one key. Full refund?
I think that was the opportunity to reject the vehicle, or at least get it recorded in the paperwork that they would either forward it on when found or get you another. Once you have accepted one key it is difficult to complain, unless there is something wrong with the car.

Sagittarius 19" alloy cover loose and fell or theft?
I realise 4wd versions use 45s but do you need to tell your insurance company of the change?

Head Gasket?
Certainly sounds like the head gasket, if you want to be sure you could try a cheap borescope and get the plugs out and see if any of the cylinders are wet, or look like they've been steam cleaned!
