12 Evs that could be bargains
Sadly I doubt that I will be able to get a used new Range Rover EV even if they end up discounted or depreciated by 90%.

No unfortunately not. Is it a new dataset required? There is a guy with odis at a local garage that I can go to if needed. Perhaps you could connect through him or provide dataset for him to load. I will try the other module I have ordered from eBay and if not will have to look at getting it trying the above!

Proactive Passenger Protection alarm
I am pleased to say this matter has now been resolved for me. It appears there are now TWO genuine Skoda towbars available: a manually REMOVABLE towbar and an electric FOLDABLE towbar. Following my formal complaint, I was quoted £470 and £800 respectively for these two options, including installation and VAT. I realise these were very reasonable prices considering the other posts here. I was initially considering the cheaper DETACHABLE towbar and looked in detail at the installation guide. This Skoda towbar appeared almost identical to the Westfalia detachable towbar I had fitted already. It seemed rediculous to replace one towbar with another which was exactly the same and pay £470 for the privilege! However I recognised that the Skoda electrics may be different and in fact be the only ones the car would recognise. I queried this and asked if the Skoda electrics could be fitted to my existing Westfalia towbar? I was given a price of £259 for fitting the Skoda electrics only, with the proviso that the outcome could not be guaranteed, as it comprised a combination of genuine Skoda and third party products. In the end I opted for the more expensive FOLDABLE Skoda towbar, as at least I would be getting more functionality for my money. This was fitted in a day by my local Skoda dealer and is indeed a very good product, as described scotjimland1. I have towed for over 100 miles and the Proactive Occupant Protection System hasn't fired once. The car's software clearly recognises a trailer is attached and adjusts the car's safety systems accordingly. I can reverse without the rear parking sensors or rear automatic emergency braking activating. The maximum allowed road speed shows both the maximum for the road and the reduced limit for vehicles with trailers (e.g. 70 mph and 60 mph with a trailer icon). I expect these software changes work the same way with the DETACHABLE Skoda towbar. The FOLDABLE towbar is released with a very neat switch in the boot which matches other switches on the vehicle. Although this solution has cost me money to resolve what is really Skoda's problem, I concluded it was the best option in the circumstances to allow me to get on and enjoy caravanning again.

Coasting
@jeffl Coasting is more intrusive on the facelift models which this is. It’s in all preset profiles rather than just Eco. The only way to avoid it is to have the individual profile setting for drive mode to sport and then gearbox will be in S so you need to then change it if OP didn’t want to be. Also in facelift cars, it always starts in Normal profile rather than remembering which profile you were in. So every time you get in the car you need to switch profile and then knock the gearstick back to be in Normal (if so desired).

2011 Fabia 1.2TSI, 67,737 miles, AP Coilover conversion *non-running*
Make & Model: Fabia Mk2 2011 1.2TSI DSG Colour: Blue Mileage: 67,737 miles Price: £1500 Description: Really well kept 2011 1.2TSI Fabia with the elegance trim. Only 67,737 miles on the clock. Has had a replacement reconditioned engine due to timing chain failure, and has now sadly got the flashing gear indicator, believe the mechatronic has gone. Broke down and has been recovered to my parents driveway. It is in generally good condition, few cosmetic marks to the paint. It has had APR coilovers fitted by Coastal Racing, setup beautifully - sits about 30mm lower than standard, and handles lovely. Currently SORN, valid MOT until November. Would make a really great project for someone, and very sad to see this car go, but have now replaced it with a Kamiq, so at least staying in the Skoda family. Condition: Non Runner Service History/Receipts/Recent Service work: Some service history, but over the last few years took to servicing myself, doing regular oil change, air/cabin filter. Not long since had a new coil pack installed. HT leads have been swapped out Extras: Elegance/SE Trim (Records show SE but spec Is elegance I believe) Mods: AP coilovers done by Coastal Racing, also got a 510 Headunit I can swap in if desired. Shipping: Must have transport Collection: Yes, transport required, located between Lancaster and Preston Pictures:

Hi Keith, You have double-checked they will fit your car? If so, great. I can send via Evri. Cost will be around £6 I think. You can pay on PayPal? Let me know if that works for you. Cheers… Rob

Columbus Map Update 2026-2027 (MIB2 HIGH)
As long as it's a Skoda.... Quite a few second hand Vag European cars get shipped to the Middle East where after changing the FeCs to the car brand they would come unstuck, but using the list above you'd get it working. Some Australians have actually imported European mib2 highs from retrofitters. I've advised them to use that Github patch software to get the RoW FeCs in. North Africa isn't served by mib2 high maps, mib2 standard it is, mib3 it is. That one comes up quite a bit as European secondhand Vag cars find their way to Africa. Think your slow download will be since you haven't got fibre to the home. Infrastructure problem 😟. It will arrive in NZ pretty fast at fibre speeds. I have had it all here from 300MBs in London to crawling rural wireless broadband of 30. Networked out from church roofs etc (for runner of wireless 4g) to full fibre to property at 900 MBs. Surprising knock on the door asking whether they could take some branches down at the bottom of the garden. Ours comes underground apart from collapsed ducting, camera down, washing up liquid and digging out to push it further along. Didn't help that the existing cable showed no entry point into the house. The house was built on it. Broken some installation rules. Chiseling on the foot of the house wall by the installation guys found a piece of BT plastic, then the phone cable and tube. Damp and radon gas can come why termination is suppose to outside the house... pass on whether radon gas getting into houses is an issue in NZ. Basically rural Wales has useless 4g in the main so I don't expect if I had a connected car it would not get updates. Some connected car users use Internet radio.... another dead end for us rural folk. What would we do without full fibre to the property 😍 Do you want to photograph your success screen so MartiniB can use it.

Hello everyone, I've finally made it onto Briskoda! I'm a big fan of everything related to the Skoda brand, so I figured it was time to officially join the community. Aside from my passion for cars, in my spare time I also run an audio code recovery platform for car stereos (including VAG/Skoda units). So, if any of you ever run into issues with a locked radio or navigation system code, feel free to reach out. Glad to be here and see you around the forums!

Front park assist retrofit help required!
Hi. I have installed all the parts now and done the coding I believe is right, but fear I may have a couple of issues. It looks like I might have a wiring issue with a couple of sensors showing a short. I have extended the loom so may be my dodgy wiring. Also looks like it’s looking for rear cross traffic alert and ev motor. So I think dataset is wrong on module. (It was from a 1.4 hybrid) not sure if this can recoded or I need a different module. Any help gratefully received. I use carscanner rather than vcds hence the difference in format. 10. Škoda Yeti Panoramic Sunroof Stuck and Grinding/Crunching Noise
Hi everyone, I am writing this post hoping someone here has already dealt with (and fixed) this nightmare on their Škoda Yeti. My panoramic sunroof is completely stuck. Whenever I try to operate it, I hear a loud grinding/crunching noise, as if the motor gear is slipping over the drive cables. Unfortunately, the glass is currently stuck in the partially open position but its missaligned (one side is lower then the other). If anyone has any guides, photos, or practical tips, it would be an absolute lifesaver. Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Need help coding out reversing camera from RDC 360 Pro
Hello Need some help please with my new head unit. Last night, I swapped out the Amundsen+ from my 2012 Fabia II Combi, and fitted a RDC 360 Pro that I obtained very cheaply from Ali Express. It works great (even the mic is apparently clearer than the factory one fitted in my light cluster) and it's good to have CarPlay in the car given that VW stopped updating the maps for the Amundsen+ quite a while ago. Anyway - I forgot to ask the seller to code out the reversing camera function (don't have one, no plans to fit one). Have been chatting with them this morning and they've confirmed it can coded out with VCDS. They've provided these screenshots (in Chinese) to help with making the right changes. Would anyone with VCDS in or around London and the Home Counties feel confident in doing this? Happy to come to you? Thanks Chris

Is it not based on drive mode? Just setup what you want against the Custom drive mode. That's what I did on my 2018 model

Unleashing the Power of OBDeleven: A Must-Have for SKODA Owners
Jay, To be honest, I can’t recommend one from the other. You’re correct in that it’s an AI (I asked to different models and both said the same thing in a slightly different manner). I have in the past had uses of VCDS, that did the very limited stuff easily (wind back to pads for brake pad changes and code for a new battery, day light changes) but that’s just the simple stuff. It might be that ODB 3 is more than you need. I can’t advise either way to be honest.

Unexpected Consequences
As i mentioned in a previous thread, I've just taken ownership of an Octavia 2025 estate, so very much still getting to grips with the head unit functionality. Anyway, I downloaded the MySkoda app onto the mobile and proceeded to link the car details as instructed. Everything seemed to load fine, naming myself as primary user but I have noticed some unexpected changes which I'd like to discuss if I may? Can now see closed roads and slow traffic on the map. Graphics could be better but this increased functionality makes sense. I'm now required to enter a 4 digit pin before I can use the vehicle. I can see this being an extra security feature, but can I switch this off? The Climate settings seem now to have a default of blowing air at setting 4. I've changed this on several occasions to setting 1, but it reverts to 4 on start-up. Is it possible to change this default? Many thanks in anticipation of your replies

Columbus Map Update 2026-2027 (MIB2 HIGH)
Many thanks guys, especially MartiniB. Tell, I had a look at the year and it says it is 2026/2027, although the major build is 2026. I have a Škoda Columbus so the FeCs should be ok for me. It’s 2230 here (New Zealand) and it’s taken a few hours to download and unzip to an SD card so I will load the maps tomorrow, but the files look ok, despite the file name, so I don’t foresee any problems. Thanks again.

Recommendations for timing chain kit 1.2 htp 55plate
Hi I am thinking on changing timing chain on my sons Mk1 1.2htp. Its done 78k and want to be on the safer side. No rattle as far as I can tell. Looking for recommendations on make of aftermarket timing chain kits. I normally use Gates belts but not sure re chain etc. Plus I believe there is a chain driven oil pump and wonder if I should change that while I am at it. Alasdair

the truth about electric cars
I liked this Alpine with just some blue trim. Dogs out for whatever before trip. Anyway. An early start and only 6 degrees C, lots of rain and today that ment 20-30 miles less range than over the past weeks of higher temps. Meant charging to add a few miles before my destination just 5 miles further on. New chargers going in hopefully.
