  1. So the time has come to seriously consider moving the Octy on and I have my heart set on a Dragon Green Superb SportLine Plus just like this one I drove at my local dealer... But this one is just too expensive for what it is and I don’t really want a new car, used is better for me as I void warranties. I can find 7 Dragon Green Superb’s for sale in the UK right now A 2017 1.4 TSI DSG SportLine which is a good contender but it’s missing the lane assist and heated screen (can retrofit those but £££) and it’s a MY17 so MIB2 Columbus not MIB2.5 so more £ in retrofits but it’s now £16,500 and I’d be after taking more off that. A 2017 2.0 TSI 280 DSG 4x4 which is a private sale and missing a lot of spec (but has loads of options, just not the ones I want) which I’ve written off for both the reasons above at £16,995 A 2017 2.0 TDI 150 DSG SportLine which has no spec so that’s been written off already and is £17,500. A 2020 1.5 TSI DSG SportLine which also has no spec but it does have a VC, written off at £22,500. The one in the pictures, a brand new, unregistered MY19 2.0 TSI 220 SportLine Plus with CANTON, Lane Assist and BLIS and the price is £30,000 but it’s eligible for £4000 deposit contribution etc as it’s unregistered but only until end of the day tomorrow. A 2020 FL 2.0 TDI 190 DSG 4x4 Estate (which I would sort of prefer) which is perfect spec wise, has the heated screen, all the options I want and is £33,500. A 2020 FL 2.0 272 TSI DSG 4x4 Estate which is also perfect option wise and some but is a whopping £40,500. I have found past adverts from the start of the year for cars much cheaper than these so I’m just wondering what the hell is up with them?? I’d have thought now would be a great time to bag a deal but I’m just not finding any really good deals. I quite like the 1.4 as it has the best spec and price all round and room to retrofit items but it’s only a 1.4. If it was a 2.0 I’d be much more interested. I think another £1000 off and I’d be there. Can’t see that happening though. Can anyone else find one? SportLine Plus ideally or older SportLine with Columbus, heated seats and power boot as a bare minimum, the rest I can retrofit but I am willing to pay more for a car with heated screen and lane assist. I don’t mind hatch or estate and mileage doesn’t bother me either nor does location, petrol or diesel doesn’t really matter but I would pay more for a petrol. I don’t really want to spend more than £20,000 if I can but I don’t really have a fixed budget if a nice one came up a bit over that I might stretch. Or just tell me why you love your Superb haha, get me in the mood to be a Superb owner lol. If you know of a car that could tick my boxes please let me know, would be very grateful!!
  2. Here is the new (used) girl I'll be picking up on the weekend.
  3. Besides the rear vents everything checked out ok and hopefully get to pick her up on the weekend.
  4. H = up to 130 MPH V = up to 149 MPH W= up to 168 MPH. Now, seriously, no Yeti is going to go anywhere near 130 MPH! My Yeti was delivered new with H rating tyres, why would you pay more for a speed rating massively in excess of any speed the Yeti is capable of achieving and a full 60 MPH higher than the UK speed limit? If yours was fitted with V or even W rated tyres then it was over speccing and probably those were the tyres that had at the time. I had an Octavia delivered with W tyres didn’t mean it was capable of anything like that speed or anyone would have been reckless enough to drive it at that speed. H tyres are actually the standard spec.
  5. The point is there are too many variables involved if you measure off the ground. But I've pretty much given up on you seeing sense here, I'm posting for the people who find this thread in the future and who might be wondering about how to do this properly.
  6. Like you I moved from octavia to superb and unfortunately I think it's a case of biding your time. It took me quite a while to find a petrol estate with a tow bar - in the end I set up a search in autotrader and one day a local one pinged up. In common with others my observation was that prices are firm - I only managed to knock £100 off a £26k car!
  7. There was a lot more choice earlier in the year! At the moment there is a lack of supply and high demand (due to Covid meaning people don't want to buy new), meaning cars are rare and when they do come up the prices are a couple of thousand more than they were at the beginning of the year. I've been keeping an eye on 280's 4x4s (to validate my own purchase back in March) and there's really not many of them - around about 6 for sale at the moment on AutoTrader compared to 18 back in March. I think the same principle applies to the other engine / model choices. If you can be flexible on what you want then you may find it quicker - otherwise just keep an eye on the market - good luck on your search!
  8. I would never use an impact driver on a plastic bleed valve, probably why I've never ever changed the clutch system fluid along with the brake fluid over the past 20 years and 6 VW Group cars. Some VW Group cars have the plastic fluid vent valve fitted to a short section of pipe - and I can think of a very good reason why they do it that way!
  9. I got it for a reasonable price. I wouldn't say bargain. Reason I purchased was the fact it was a few "shiney" bits on that make it desirable. Mechanically it's got a few things wrong but I reckon £1500 all in and it'll be done. That's including things like, cambelt and water pump, full service, turbo, some suspension poly bushing, intercooler work (already has a cooler), handbrake cable, discs and pads, radio and a few other minor things. Priced all up with quality parts. Not cheap rubbish. For £1500 I don't think I could've found a better one as it would've needed work to get to my standard I consider safe and done. I always buy broken cars then fix them up this way as long term it takes a little longer to start with but I'm 100 percent happy with what I bought then. I'd hate to spend money on a "decent" one for 2k and find issues. Which me being me I would inevitably find. My current car was bought sight unseen and I fixed that up as well. Same as the one before that. Perks of being a mechanic. Been doing it 15 years now 😂 For anyone that's interested. This is my current ride untill the fabia is done. I've got two kids in the car a lot, hence buying a 5 door now. Been a cracking little car for almost 2 years. It'll most likely be sold once I'm happy with the fabia and it's been on the road a while. Mk6 zetec s tdci Gtd1244vz turbo 110 injectors 3 bar map sensor Paddle clutch (wish I had organic) St170 front brakes St150 rear end with brakes A few other subtle mods.
  10. Mine. I have it 5 months now, the first 3 we were in lockdown and it didn't move much!

Just wanted to express joy that i'm back in the mk1 club. I 'upgraded' to a mk2 (1.6 tho) and it earnt the nickname 'the sh**mobile', being towed by the RAC twice in a year a 3x the price of a mk1 on parts!!!? Agonised for months on what to replace it with and in the end went back to mk1 my aim is to totally do it up and have my first half a million miles car!! (Everyone i know is mortified at what i've done lol)
  12. The speed rating of the tyres fitted should be those homologated by the manufacturer for that model, its probably not so important in the UK but over here the vehicle will fail its CT if it has anything than the homologated tyre size & rating and insurers are very zealous in refusing claims for the most ridiculous of reasons that would never stand up to a legal appeal. Why? - because they always have done and people meekly accept it. There is also the load rating, a vehicle could potentially carry a maximum payload and drive at its maximum speed for hours on end on a German Autobahn. I have no reservations about driving on lower speed rated tyres as I generally remain within the speed limits but over here its the CT test which is the killer and also no tyre fitting place will fit anything other than the homologated tyres.
  13. There was a recall issued 5/9/2019 (R/2019/214) for a possible crack in the frame of the left front seat. See https://www.check-vehicle-recalls.service.gov.uk/recall-type/vehicle/make/SKODA/model/KAROQ/year/2019/recalls for details. Only 238 vehicles were affected though
  14. Yes, very weird - just downloaded again this evening and no issues found?! Unzipping directly to hard drive, then copy to new SD. Will give the update a try tomorrow 🙂
  15. What car presently sold new has 205 55 15 tyres on it? A1? Yes but if you look at Mytyres they only have 23 choices in that size. This includes Winter, All Season and Summer tyre. You find that on a tyre size with little choice the prices are higher than on a more common size. https://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?dsco=110&cart_id=moZ0bur39YOXKZFL.110.841440332&Cookie=sea_rd_uk_Google_Search&sowigan=So&Breite=205&Quer=55&Felge=15&Speed=&kategorie=6&Marke=&ranzahl=4&search_tool=standard&rsmFahrzeugart=ALL&suchen=Search+for+tyres If you try a common size you can have a choice of over 750 tyres at cheaper prices. 205 55 15 Uniroyal Rainsport 5 are £76.99 supplied only. 205 55 16 Uniroyal Rainsport 5 are £52.19 supplied only. Thanks, AG Falco
  16. I'm also in the market as well for a Superb Sportline estate but pricing seems all over the place at the moment. I think a lack of new car demand and incoming used stock is driving used prices up. My Octavia VRS has apparently appreciated in the past year despite having another birthday and about 12k mileage put on it. Dragon green is the best colour and I think the Superb looks fantastic in colours that stand out. I think I'm going to bide my time for a well specced Sportline estate, ideally with the 280/272 engine, though I may settle for a TDI 190 4x4 if the perfect spec came up. Canton, VC and Columbus 2.5 are all non-negotiable for me. Alternatively if I find nothing I may cave and get a 5 series estate. 67 plate G31s are hovering round the 20k mark for a 20d m sport. Good luck with the search!

  18. All-seasons every time. The difference between good all-season tyres and summer tyres on snow/ice is like night and day. However, I would much rather run 225/60R16 tyres on 7Jx16 ET45 rims than 225/50R17 tyres on 7Jx17 ET45 rims. For those that like to stick with standard tyre sizes then it would be 215/60R16 on that size rim. The 225/60R16 gives noticeably more comfort compared to the smaller sidewalled 225/50R17 size, is a cheaper size, and looks better due to having a slightly bigger outside diameter and more sidewall...20% bigger sidewall. The 225/50R17 size tyre doesn't look right on the Yeti. It looks like someone has stuck their car tyres onto their SUV. Alcar 9257 Steel Rims 7Jx16 ET45 https://www.autodoc.co.uk/alcar/14750851 Vredestein Quatrac 5 All-Season Tyres 225/60R16 102H XL https://www.autodoc.co.uk/tyres/vredestein-8714692316203-ap22560016hqt5a02 All-season tyres are winter rated which means that they can have a lower speed index than what the car came with as standard. On H-speed rated tyres, if your car has a top speed of more than 130mph, then you need to put a label in the driver's view to let them know that the tyres fitted to the car are only capable of 130mph.
  19. I run Cross Climates on our Octavia and have run Goodyear Vector 4 Season Gen2's in the past. The Cross Climates are nearly a Summer Tyre which wont leave you stuck in the snow, perfect for the Octavia. The Goodyear's are not far behind for summer performance but are a lot better in winter especially on compact snow and ice. And are better on mud and wet grass. For me the Goodyears are the better choice for a 4x4 Yeti that does some grass/mud/snow work and they have the bonus of being cheaper. I have brand new Primacy 3's on my Yeti but still thinking of swapping them for the Goodyear Vectors, Gen 2's or the new Gen 3's
  20. Try to read the part number off the hose while you're there, the bit after TR-KRS-03L and before what looks like 005 AF. Can't tell if it's just dirt hiding the middle bit, or its worn off.
  21. Looks great 👍
  22. When I bought my car last November, the dealer wouldn't budge an inch on price. In fact, I felt like smacking him in the mouth when he only offered me 200 quid for my trade in (which I sold privately for much more). Good luck with your search. I can't understand why prices are so high - it's a skoda ffs.
  23. It’s for better efficiency when you inform your insurance company.😆
  24. Having just checked 81 Superb's for sale in the Marshalls Skoda Group not one was in Dragon but Milton Keynes has 4 or 5 between £21,000-£25,000. Not sure if that is too much but some have high spec. From a personal point there is only one 272 out of the 81 for sale at £29,000 with 6,400 miles on the clock which makes my 4,900 mile example seem an absolute bargain last December at £23,840.
  25. Very much tyre and tyre pressure dependent. For instance I've driven Rapid / Toledo on some17 inch tyres that were dire and on different brands that were very comfortable. All these were OEM. Dunlop SP Sport Maxx - Loud, Harsh RIde, Grippy, Long-lasting 30k+? Bridestone RE050A - Quite loud, Jiggly Ride, Not as Grippy, Don't seem like they'll do a huge mileage (cracking at 17000) Conti PremiumContact 2 - Quiet, Best Ride, Grip nearly as good as Dunlop. 26000 miles with even wear ( but then grip reduced at 3mm tread depth ) Still easily legal at 35000 miles. It could be @WolfyWesty just has a harsh tyre on, and a better one would negate the need for a wheel size change. The Contis were great for me as a commuter. Very disappointed the next brand new car had those Bridgestones on instead. Reducing the Bridgestone pressure from eco to normal helps the ride too, without noticeable fuel consumption change. If going to 16s, can thoroughly recommend Dunlop SP Sport Fast Response (now called Dunlop Sport BluResponse I think) in the 215/45R16.
  26. I’m not fussed about 4x4, would rather have this colour as a priority. I have found dead adverts for Dragon Green cars just 6 months ago even for about what an equivalent one in another colour would be but maybe I’m just dismayed that the cars I’ve found are all nice, low mileage ones and are priced accordingly where I normally will take a higher miles car and save the £ but unless someone has a higher miles Dragon Green car squirrelled away somewhere I’m stuck with these choices and although I’m more than capable of retrofitting pretty much anything I want on top of the SportLine spec I just don’t want to spend the cash after the fact, would rather get it right on the first try if I can. I am willing to wait as overpaying is even worse than being impatient haha, just really liked the car I drove so now I want one haha
  27. Some further good explanation and description in here. They say 100mb for the EA888 but i have some repair documents with photos documenting 25mb. In any case it is a lot lot less negative, than manifold engine vacuum. http://karmakanix.com/knowledgebase/engines/gas-engines-vw-audi/2-0t-engine-tfsi-fsi-audi-vw/2-0t-oil-consumption-pcv-breather-valve/
  28. Presumably these have a power switch? Just make sure it is off before connecting up to eliminate risk of spark at the battery terminals.
  29. @bigade1 this works all OK on the columbus MIB2. question for you though, is there is way of changing the alert distance to the camera?

Hi all I’m new to the site I’m here for advice and some help with getting the most out of my race blue mk2 Octavia vRS 2.0 tfsi
  31. Hi, according to the dealer in Lithuania, Zinc inclusion does not exist, the bubbles are caused by rock chips, ie rocks hitting the car, a picture of my 2013 yeti; what can I do ?
  32. Thanks TasMan ... much appreciated and will keep the thread posted in case someone comes along at a later date needing info. Best,
  33. So this is where we are at currently, stupidly I didn't take before pics but it was a basic white Skoda Kodiaq Scout (I'll grab some pics off the net for comparison). Up to now I've had the following done: - matte black sprayed alloys and calipers - side mirrors matte black - front and rear diffusers matte black to match - rear windows tinted a couple shades higher I have it booked in for early September to get the roof rails and chrome to be wrapped in matte black to match and then finally the badges will be replaced with black ones and a full detail. I did have a plan to get the whole roof wrapped in black, but now I have it like this I'm worried it will be too much black and the roof rails will just blend into the roof making it a bit pointless! So I'll get all this done and see how it looks, before making a decision on the roof. Really happy with the work upto now, nothing over the top, just hints. EDIT: Apologies about the poor quality pics, it was starting to rain and the light was pretty low when i got it, so had to rush!
  34. No recoding needed if you're only swapping/fixing the led lighting 🙂
  35. I am also interested of the other side effects. How did this change your fuel consumption for example?

  37. You were right about the screw mate cheers cars running like new
  38. Ground to wheelarch is the wrong measurement. This has been pointed out several times on this thread and all the other ones you've posted about this on. The distance from the ground to the arch is affected by tyre pressure and condition as well as the suspension, and is therefore unreliable. The correct measurement is the top of the wheelarch to the centre of the wheel. It has also been pointed out to you so many times by now that your car is, absolutely, without any possible doubt, sitting lower than it should be and you've been given lots of good advice on how to sort it out. Please sort it out instead of posting about it every few months in the hopes that some kind of magic solution has turned up in the meantime.
  39. I am still trying to decide if it was my imagination, was the noise always there & I just did not notice it. It does not seem to be getting worse although I can hear it at lower speeds but then my senses are on high alert for it. I really need to do a long high speed journey towing a large flat fronted trailer including some mountain sections to really put it to the test and give myself peace of mind. Maybe one day I will get to ride in someone elses Yeti 4x4, little point asking them if theirs is noisy as its subjective. It could even be tyre noise. I guess I should change the oil again after a year and see what it looks like, but I could only be sure when that second fill of oil is changed again as there will still be flushing going on.
  40. Before doing so, you might want to consult the handbook. As has been said, there is a risk of sparks igniting hydrogen from the battery if you connect direct.

  43. Hello everyone! My name is Marek. Ever since the concept art of MK3 Superb came out and 2016 when the MK3 was put to production, I have always wanted a White Superb Estate. It has been long time and I finally managed to get my hands on second hand Superb MK3. It is not exactly as I wanted but close enough. I plan to do some finishing touches myself, so it would be as I imagined it. This is my first Skoda (although I have driven several rental Skodas) and I love it. My Previous cars was 2012 Ford Fusion (EU version) 1.4 Petrol, so to compared 2.0 TDI 110KW Superb, it is a major upgrade both engine and comfort wise. One thing I really love about this car is the silence inside the cabin and smooth ride quality. I am already planning some road trips (if the emergency will calm down), since then I will trip around locally. So far I am really happy with the car!!! Also about me, I ride with motorcylces and do little bit of MTB-ing, camping and plan to do some watersports (SUP, wake, Kite) if I manage to make time to it. Keep healthy and joyful!
  44. If it's going into limp mode it's overboosting, get it set up properly.
  45. New guy here from Cumbernauld-already said my hellos in Hellos and Goodbyes section. I came from a Mazda 6 2.2 D which I've had for four years into an Octavia VRS Estate Petrol in Rallye Green-named Kermit by my 10 year old daughter . Only had it a few days but absolutely love the car. Previous cars include Mondeo STTDCi and Seat Leon Cupra. Looking forward to joining in here and hoping to get plenty out of the forums.
