Hello un named Arona.... 1.0tsi 7speed dsg xcellence spec after swmbo drove it 38km home there is now 64km on the clock. 6months since first registered 9k less than new list price with lexi thrown in... too good to walk away!
  2. It might well be a future classic but it'll tank in value for the first 10yr like any other mainstream model. £40k for a Yaris! Unless you desperately want to be the one and only owner in the book wait 18 months and pick it up for £25k if not lower.
  3. The fake exhaust vents were a real eyesore for me so I went on a quest to fit some quad-tip exhausts and added on a Martinek rear diffuser from SuperSkoda for good measure. And oh, finally did the rear brakes in matching gold paint as well. Pretty much done with the car now!
  4. No, that was me missing a word... Meant to be: Suspension - Koni Special Actives sitting in front room, hopefully fitted next week Fronts and rears will be fitted

.... to Lexi the 'Go. after almost 7yrs and 54000km of gocart driving pleasure that always put a smile on my face when i borrowed her, swmbo's citigo is, as i type, being given to a dealer to find a new home. i'll unveil Lexi's replacement later, when swmbo gets home.....
  6. Two quick presses will unlock all the doors.
  7. The weather here has gone above freezing and I have missed the opportunity for a much needed defrost, TBH I was too intimidated by having to get out an axe, hammer & chisel once again and at the thought of what extinct animal species I might find in the permafrost!!!
  8. So my car has been in to see a trusted mechanic a couple of times and now he is 99% sure it is solved and that water was coming in via the rear near side light cluster. Although the light unit looks ok and the foam seal was undamaged it simply wasn’t doing its job. There is a square gap where the wires come through but no seal of any sort. With all the trim inside removed and a wet day to test on, it was easy to see water draining down into the section behind the trim and also down into the tyre well. the solution has been to add some extra foam to the seal and I initial testing has proved successful. It will be interesting to see the reduced condensation and a dryer boot.
  9. Did you have a chat about mpg with them

Nice - I looked at an Arona in that spec with the MIL last year... unfortunately she went on to buy a Jazz... Stupid thing is she was taken with it and liked red with a black roof (she didn't like the silver they offered) but they could only find a red with a grey roof... The jazz is grey...
  11. Check ALL the hoses and around the cylinder head and airbox including crankcase breather hoses, airbox connections and PCV valve. One of those is split / leaking / disconnected.
  12. It's as easy as this job can be. You have to use a diagnostic tool to retract the electric park brake motor, I used Carista, but no other special tools are needed; the disc comes out without needing to remove the caliper bracket and you push the piston straight in, no need to turn it. The hardest part for me was separating the rusty disc from the hub.

It’s not that modern tyres have less grip, it’s what they are nowadays designed to do, which differs from before. One problem is Eco (or low rolling resistance) tyres. These have compounds which are harder than standard summer tyres. Simple physics if hard they are less grippy. Great for summer touring, useless in cold rain. The other change is that over the last 1-4 years, various tyre manufacturers have introduced all season tyres (which have ideal temperature range of about -5c to +25c exact amount varies by brand, still ok at say -12c to +32c). Consequently have been able to optimise summer tyres for summer temperatures say +10c to +40c The reason why the car gets delivered with summer tyres is that WLTP tests are done at +23c. But of course the mean temperature of UK is considerably lower, and if they fitted all season (with ideal midpoint of +10c) then going to get higher CO2 and mpg. Also of course having changed spec would need a new WLTP test, so just get the eco summer tyre as factory option.
  15. Update, Stage 1 - Engine and DSG done a while ago, loving it, might not even go to Stage 2 since it a full daily driver LED reverse, rear indicator, puddle and rear hatch lights all fitted Suspension - Koni Special Actives sitting in front, hopefully fitted next week Stereo - The more I listen to the Canton system, the more I dislike it... so going mad with a full HD Audison/Hertz system in a couple of months After that work it might just be that, then live with and continue to enjoy the car. Only other thing really on the wish list would be an electric rear hatch, can it be retrofitted???
  16. I replied on that thread for you (I'd completely forgotten about it tbh)
  17. I can confirm the Revo Stage1 is amazing! JB4 was good, but Revo is a different league. I can't believe what a simple software update can do with these engines, that's how those DNUA should come from the factory:) Next step is TVS Stage 2+ for the box. Thanks @newbie69 for all the advises and courage to be the first and share your experience!
  18. @Deerfoot I agree, Weissgold would look good. I like them silver as well, but one rim is quite scuffed, so would need a respray anyways.

Ahhhh right I will get my book out and make sure first thanks for your help mate 👍
  20. A cold & frosty morning all. Have had an issue with my internal driver side door handle. Got in car happily enough from outside to warm up and defrost windows, but when I went to get back out no response from internal handle pull. Window opened and external handle pulled again from outside to escape. AA recovery stripped door apart and confirmed cable retainer broken at handle. Temporarily reset cable to resume function but left with instruction to ‘be gentle’ and visit dealer to resolve under warranty at first opportunity as only 17mths old. Waiting game now for first available appointment, but not an issue my local dealer recall seeing before on a Karoq. So, a rare fail perhaps, but one I thought worth recording on here in case others experience same. cheers, Buzz
  21. I think so. The WiFi is only payable if you want to connect your phone to it in the car.
  22. The condition of the discs and pads are worth checking with the car having sat so long since delivery and the PDI. Maybe it will get an Italian Tune up to clean off any cosmetic rust if that is all they have. If the car was set to Fixed Servicing of 372 days / 9,400 miles then it is due a service which includes a Oil & Filter change even if the car has done only 23 miles. Or especially since it has done only 23 miles since the car was reset from 'Transit mode'.

I have to laugh sometimes been using summer tyres for the last 38 years without ending in a ditch unlike the yellow Mazda MX-5 which ended up the wrong way round in a ditch having lost control on a roundabout near where I live. It was -2C this morning and I was running late because of the frost so did my 27 mile commute in just 36 minutes at an average of 45mph.

Interested why you are fed up with the Telsa? I am following closely some EV forums and the Telsa seems to be getting things right. The charging infrastructure a key selling point.
  25. Hi no the 2014 Superb was traded not long after the clutch was replaced under warranty for a 2015 Octavia Vrs Tdi DSG and was never mapped. The only diesel to be mapped was a Mk3 Octavia 2.0Tdi SE which went from 147 to 186bhp and from 246 to 317lb/ft and economy on that car only dropped from 71 to 70mpg on a decent run. All my cars have been done by Ben at AmD in Grays, Essex close to the Mercedes dealership and IKEA. They charge £500 but you can pay interest free over 12 months.
  26. Mine also shows elegance on the logbook. With regards to worth, because it's an Edition 100, I'd not say it's worth any more. A good service history/maintenance record and cared for bodywork etc would be the deciding factor. End of the day, not many people want a 15+ year old Skoda, regardless of how nice we think they are. For info, I bought my 2006 PD130 Edition 100 for £1825 in 2019 with a great service history, some choice modifications, and generally pretty tidy exterior.
  27. Ok, thanks. So I have speed limits showing on the nav screen, as well as ACC, Lane assist and Kane cgangecassist. as I understand ut, it needs a SWaP file to enable traffic sign recognition on the instrument binnacle (not digital screen, analogue dials) woukd my Skida dealer enable ut for a fee, or is there another way? Non Skida dealer? thanks
  28. The part I did like about eco was the slow resume on cruise and the soft throttle/gear change. I did discuss the possibility of removing the coasting with a tuner but he wasn't sure he could do it. I do think that rather than coasting a change to the highest possible gear (or even just up one) would offer much better economy while giving semi-coasting feel.
  29. hello all. i joined here as i read this post about techniclutch and wanted to reply and also give my story and a few pointers. this company are obviously crooks, the buy in refanufactured clutches from abroad, these are worn out clutches and plates where they skim the heads of the plates, put bew springs in the disks, they give the plate a clean up and then sell it to you. you then either realise its rubbish before fitting if your lucky or you pay someone to fit an item that fails far quicker than it should if you are no so lucky and then need to pay to have it done all again. They depend on wearing you down with lies and nonsense and it works, most just give up vow to never buy from them again then forget about it. but for the good of everyone you must follow through and get your money back and you will but you wont get it from them. you will get it the legal route. heres my story first record on your phone every conversation you have with them. this is evidence, this is allowed if you need to take it as far as the small claims court you can use extracts from this to prove your case. dates etc while talking to them. second if you can never accept the package from them and return to sender, i did this i purchased then read all the reviews and cancelled the following day. they claimed some spurrious nonsense that they would need to get in touch with the warehouse or some such thing. i phoned 2 days later confirming my cancellation but the said it had allready been posted. but it had not been posted, because 4 days later i recieved parcelforce tracking for the item. so they had 6 days to not send the item so ask yourself why they would still send the item ? i wil tell you why, because once you had recieved it they would claim that you changed it, you tampered with it, that it wasinst same item you sent back. i twigged this was what they were up to hence sending item 6 days after i cancelled. so if you cancel it and they send it, do not accept it at the door and the postal company will return to sender, that puts a stop to that part of the scam. then the fub begins, you phone up, you have proof you didint recieve or returned to sender or looked in the box say it was junk and sent back. so after about 8 phome calls or so you will start to realise that they have no intention of paying you back and will start to make up nnsense to not pay you. this is why you must absolutely record every call you have with them. your options now are. section 70 - if you paid by credit card you can make a section 70 claim with your credit card company, include the fact you have recorded phone calls, the tracking number of them sending it and you sending back etc. paypall chargeback - if you bought via there ebay store do a charge back as quick as you can. dont sit arguing and phoning them go straight for the charge back. the sooner the better. make sure you have proof of posting back as ebay will ask for this. letter before action - next if you didint pay by credit card or you are paypal time lapsed etc or you paid debit card. you will now need to send a letter before action. moneysaving supermarket etc have details of doing this also citizen advice. you might have to revert to here even if you paid by credit card because techniclutch have set themselves up to circumvent the credit card chargeback, there is a clause which is actually going through parliment to stop that a credit card can claim the transaction is not between them and the retailer because they use a third party processor ie like sage pay and the credit company will sometimes but not allways refuse the chargeback because of this. take a guess who techniclutch use for processing their cards even though they charge a lot more than a standard company like rbs or sum up or lloyds etc. yup they use sage pay as they attempt to prevent charge backs. So set out a letter before action, send it proof of delivery not signed for, likely they will just not sign for it as they probably get loads and know the drill. so go to the post office and send it proof of delivery not signed for. also send a copy to their email. and keep a copy for yourself. if this still dont get them to give you your money back next its a small claims dont online, its simple its cheap its effective. they will have 0 days to pay you or you apply t take them to small claims court. its better if the item + costs allowed are over £600 in total because if they dont pay you can hire a high court balliff to collect. if under and they refuse to pay you need to get a ccj against them they then have time to pay you before its marked against them. So hope that helps some of you that are robbed by this company. remember to report them to companies house, remember to report them to ebay, post about them on trustpilot and come to forums like this.and blackpool police eventually some authority is going to take notice and close this company down. a wee msg to any rogue trader tv programs wont do any harm either. they have made an enemy with me, make sure they make one with you as well. i got my money back after 10 weeks with a credit card chargeback. i refused the item and had it returned to sender. they tried to claim on the phone that me returning to sender ie not accepting the parcel and it being returned untouched and not in my ownership at any point. was a breach of contract, have you ever heard of such lying nonsense. it was at this point i realised i needed to stop trying with them and go the route that didint involve asking them for it back. remember record all phone conversations with them. byt what is really needed is for many of the victims of their scams to get together and report them as a group. i hardly think blackpool fraud squad could ignore 50 independent phone calls to them in a week about this company. or the same to companies house or rogue traders etc. best wishes all. im looking at buying a skoda
  30. Hi @Manolis , I just came across that thread (https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/343922-mk1-scout-lift-kit ) and I think you can find some ideas about getting the car higher and wider using spacers both for wheels and springs / shock absorbers. Take a look and let us know your progress on that. Seems to be interesting.

Yeah, that is right, I think, because in my car it was too and I have 1.6 TDI MY2016
  32. Whiteline on and installed on the mid setting. Will take it out tonight to see if it makes any difference. Glad I finally got it, even if it took a while.
  33. Allow 2 days for train to Emden Then 0-5 weeks, depends on other VW group cars making up a ship sized load About 4-7 days voyage (Sheerness, Grimsby or Tyne, might not be first disport) 0-2 weeks Awaiting a full road transporter (might do 2 dealers) So anything from 3 weeks to about 9 weeks, but I would suggest 5 weeks from build
  34. mine took 4 weeks

Wasn't a problem with the lack of power you got years ago. Remember getting a second hand Sierra in 1992 which had 80 bhp, 10 up on the one it replaced!
  36. @Frdy85 - this thread is about an MIB1 Amundsen. From your post here, this is not what you have so the maps above will not work! You need to figure out if you have an RNS-310 or RNS-315 style Amundsen. - For the RNS-310, I can't see any South American maps - For the RNS-315, there appear to be V7 maps from 2016/2017, I can't see anything newer
  37. Indeed, thanks! Per the Wikipedia article on "frits", these dots are ceramic, not metal.
  38. exactly my thoughts during first two years of owning, but now, after 5 years, when come some fantasies about swap the car, Superb is still on the first place of the choice list. i like exterior and interior design, enjoying dynamic of 2.0 TSI 220ps DSG6, but next will be AWD 2.0 TSI 280ps DSG7, huge amount of space even in hatch, don't like wagons cause they are louder and rear window is always dirt in bad weather. problems with suspension can be solved by replace them to non OEM parts. what are alternatives? Audi A6 + €25k Volvo V90 + €22k VW Arteon + €20k and these won't be loaded with options same as Superb also to list i have added Seat Tarraco AWD 2.0 TSI 245ps DSG7, whit which i can save few k € for exact options list if compared to Superb, but lose little bit space in trunk options list of the current Superb Style 2016 https://www.drive2.ru/l/557894125152633200/

I really don't think we can take this much further. In the old days cranks were often cast, nowadays they're all forged, these are the only two ways of making a crank. You seem to be having a lockdown meltdown, go and have a lie down and stop thinking these pointless negative thoughts.
  40. If it has been removed the either there will be a big gap where it once was or the trim has been replaced with a lower level one. Now I am questioning whether I am talking bull***t, the above would be correct on an Octavia but my Yeti does not have a storage bin nor does it have a trim under the front, just a big gap where I have fitted a household plastic storage box clipped to the seat frame. What I was going to suggest if there is a new trim in place is that it will have a manufacturers sticker with the manufacturing date which is unlikely to match any of the other parts in your vehicle. Unless the car was severely damaged its unlikely that the seat would have been removed for the repairs but if someone has been helping themselves to your parts to upgrade their car then I would look carefully everywhere else including under the boot carpet at the toolkit, locking wheelnut key, jack, tyre inflator compressor etc etc.
  41. Looks awesome - lets just hope it doesn't get the same negative attention the NorthantsPol ones got... "Ooh it looks too aggressive with all those scary markings"
  42. Saw this, made me happy how good it looks. Didn't care about the words. Had to share. Wife wouldn't care. Came to forums, found similar post. 😂 https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-cumbria-55724754
  43. Quantum is a VW group owned spares brand, as I understand it, not an oil manufacturer. Quantum oil is currently manufactured by Fuchs, I believe. Used to be Castrol for a while if I remember rightly. It's good value from ebay, and obviously is approved to the various VW specs. I've used little else in the last five or so years.
  44. George, I to noticed the preregistered plus 750miles available 1/4/2021 I think Toyota would still be displeased at what they are up to.
  45. I had the pleasure of driving this at the weekend! (ps. No comments from police haters please - it's a job and someone has to do it. Remember this forum is just about the cars so keep it friendly please )
  46. Are we talking about bonnet soundproof or the sump tray? bonnet padding is held by small round black push on clips to remove these you have to bend them away from bonnet with a small screwdriver and wiggle them off, the sump tray has a sponge type padding with a cloth type finish and is glued in place, the engine top cover is also sponge under the top and that's also stuck in place, I came across a hard black sponge about 30mm thick in a hardware shop that was used for packing and cut it to shape and used a small daps of unibond waterproof no nails to hold in place , still on car in place after 4 years car gone now so can't send pic's, under bonnet soundproof has to be replaced
  47. Heres a quick look of new Combis RS, full review coming soon.
