At a guess, they want to remove the rear wiper so need a delete kit to plug the hole. However the vendor they are wanting to use aren't replying to email or phone so they wanted to know if others have used or contacted https://www.killallwipers.com/ recently 👍
  2. Yeah, you need a 4-wheel alignment, particularly if the drive is fine (because someone has attempted to correct a rear end problem by adjusting the front and made the car track true without correcting the actual fault). Look for somewhere trustworthy with a full Hunter alignment rig.
  3. Been thinking about doing this for way way too long - finally gave Gandalf a lip extension!! 😊 It's a Rieger splitter. Was looking and looking for a splitter that didn't stick out like the Maxton and SuperSkoda versions. Fits perfectly. Quality is great. Going to get it finished in Gloss Black soon, so it matches the gloss black of the fog light frames....
  4. So, I started to strip down my spare engine probably about three weeks ago, 5 minutes here and there removing the various bolt on parts like the turbo, aircon compressor, fuel lines etc. A few weeks went by without touching it as we were mental in work and have been keeping my weekends free as Zee is still working from home. Things really went off the boil at work two weeks ago, so managed to spend a couple of hours stripping the head. Wasn't looking forward to pulling the injectors out as I don't think I've seen a single one come out easily in the early two years of working in a garage, even by very seasoned professionals, so I chose to try something I haven't seen done by my mentor yet .... Gotta love a cable tie! I used a long bar to free up the injector by wriggling side to side, then used the cable tie to pull up as I wiggled. Simples! Once these were out the rest was pretty much plain sailing with only the removal of the valves the only thing I was unsure of at this point. Overall, the cam wasn't in bad condition considering the engine has done 187k. This was the only mark I found .... These have clearly seen better days! .... and this was what the underside looked like after a very quick wipe down, before the valves came out Halfway through valve removal and out ..... .... all stripped, cleaned and ready to be sent off for testing and quick skim One paperweight, put to one side ... and one useful long-ratio 'box sat ready to be touched Back in work on Tuesday and will get the head sent off and get some parts ordered. I'm hoping to have this rebuilt in the next two weeks, but we will see This does seem like a lot of work just to change the leaking valve stem seals, but this type of work doesn't come up often and will look good in my college portfolio of work! Time has seriously flown as I only have two more block weeks left at college, then I'm all finished Until next time .......
  5. This is me lol The yeti went to jbs for a few days, I've used rich and jbs before. I went for the hybrid option rather than going with a second hand 1.4 set up. Its an absolute night and day difference and shows you want you can achieve with these engines. I probably could of had slightly more power if chasing numbers but I went for a sports cat to stay on the legal side. I paid £2100 and for me it's worth every penny. I have an evo 5 for my fun weekend car, I wanted more power for the yeti as a daily and it's absolutely rapid definitely suprised how quick it hits 140! 😂 If you own an EA211 I'd give up chasing the 1.4 idea and just go with the hybrid option. Best way to hit over 200 in my opinion! Would highly recommend JBS
  6. Haha.. maybe in 2030 that will work. Since english is not my native, I had to add “special” tags to the names in phonebook I usually call. So when I say “call Prometheus” I know the car will call “Turcsányi Lajos” (the real name in my country) 😅

  8. To provide a glimmer of hope, the loan Octavia Mk4 (1.0 e-Tec SE FE DSG Estate) I've been driving for a couple of weeks (and knocking on 850 miles) has been fine. From what I've been able to find out the build date was August 2020
  9. They have a little roof spoiler on the roof looks to be the same idea as the mk1 vrs so its a very minor difference from a standard car. Unless they all come with that little 'spoiler' on the back. I could be mistaken. Edit: Went out and took a pic of the "spoiler" on mine. I happened to buy a sales brochure for A monte carlo on eBay last year and in the standard equipment section it says "Black roof and Tailgate spoiler" so I imagine it is different.
  10. "That alone should put people off" - Don't worry, it does. Mk 3 owner here, not ready to change at cars for a while but wouldn't even consider a Mk4 at this point in time. It will take a clear admission of the faults from Skoda, proven rectification of the faults, and a good run of cars without faults before my confidence is restored.
  11. I've just had a four wheel alignment check done, the back was so far out there was no more red on the read out! My local Formula 1 tire center did the check free, the adjustment cost £75. Hopefully this will sort the problem
  12. Honestly mate, if I (ever) get an update and suggested resolution from No Hope Skoda (TM) and that includes an offer of a replacement MK4 and it works and I take it I'll post an 'honest review' and let everyone know. Customer service is surely as important as the car itself, when it isn't working, and I'm basically being treated like scum at the moment. I'm not a person with an issue they want to fix, I'm a problem they are trying to pretend doesn't exist. That alone should put people off.
  13. Yes, just checked the version is 20H2................. I believe this is the very latest too. TFFT. Thanks guys.
  14. Well on the day of her 17th birthday my daughter picked up her present. She is VERY happy and so am I. It drives like a dream, very impressed with it, quiet and comfy even it motorway speeds.
  15. My neighbours tree looks rather vibrant against the stormy sky
  16. They were stock Subaru, so not sure if B6's. Ride was more harsh than the Koni's now. But did what was needed of them for a sports estate. I'm no car handling expert, but they weren't as nice as the stock set-up on the Mitsubishi VR4 I had, but then it had Evo 4 running gear
  17. That's actually quite reasonable. I think I paid £50 at a place in Bolton with Hunter that is well rated but adjustments were on top. Didn't really need much so wasn't charged any extra.
  18. Google Michelin for a view on tyre age, I know yours are not Michelin but an interesting article suggesting 10 years for replacement. Lots of ifs and buts of course.
  19. Blimey had an update notification on my sat nav screen today, hit the ok button, then, nothing has changed?

Rather like housemice surely you can remove a rear wiper without having to kill it? What is advertised on that site appears to be some bad taste T-shirts offensive to those who don't want to kill anything, I note that the site is killallwipers, best not to try it on my car

Can anyone translate that posting for me please?
  22. "Driving on the right hand side of the road"! Chris
  23. Daft question but you have a LHD car in Portsmouth??
  24. Chrome trim above door coming loose. Glove box not staying closed. Scored brake discs at rear. Creaking suspension at low speed over speed bumps. Door handles coming loose (or off).
  25. I'm not sure, it's not something I've had to remove yet @SashaGrace probably knows
  26. Thanks all. Funny you should say that Robby as I've been looking at the Toledo (same one you have) due to the extra bells and whistles. Sadly, there are none locally so I'll have to wait it out or travel to Inverness! I'll see if I can test drive a 1.2 and 1.0 for comparison.

Just a final update from me. Got the car delivered yesterday. Ordered on the 5th of Jan... estate, petrol, DSG, DCC. 😍
  28. Try telling that to the dealer who thinks they're doing you a favour by topping up the screenwash!
  29. yes, on a virtual display you need to choose the "telephone" display and than with right wheel you select a contact to call. But its way faster by finger tapping on the infotainment, especially if you have the person you want to call in the favourites.
  30. Did try map style from Porsche VW Audi Seat Bentley on mine Columbus. Decided to use Porsche one.
  31. Snow on the hills yesterday
  32. Just click accept on the right wheel

Calipers don't get hot like the discs do, and certainly not as hot as an exhaust manifold, the brake pads are quite effective at insulating them, it takes a lot of hard braking to get the brake fluid above 100 degrees C when steam pockets form and you get the classic soft pedal brake fade.
  34. And gearbox finally fine painted and assembled-ready to rock'n roll in the summerrrr🎶🎶🎶🎶

Ordered superb SE L estate in Petrol blue, 2.00l 150hpDSG with towbar and camera. no delivery times yet but it doubt if it be anytime soon
  36. I always planned to keep my 2014 mk3 Octavia 1.4 tsi until it was 10 years old. I may actually keep it longer now. I very nearly traded it earlier this year for one of the last mk3 1.5 SE L estates but the stories of 1.5 issues put me off. I certainly wouldn’t get a mk4 based on what I read on briskoda. I may be old fashioned but I don’t want to work everything from a touch screen, I also don’t want or need all of the connectivity garbage that’s on them and seems to be the cause of most trouble.
  37. Well, the time has finally come, took possession of this little beauty 2 days ago, it's a 2016,2.0tdi, dsg, has 66.000km on the clock, I'm the second owner, I'll let the pictures do the talking! Feel free to comment! https://photos.app.goo.gl/GoyosHJBJ3tb5RrZ7
  38. This video on the pitfalls of tuning boxes compared to a decent remap might change your view on tuning boxes. https://youtu.be/I_sIRoPgFFI
  39. This is turning into one of those decent home-cooked food vs McDonalds conversations. Both are OK - but I know which I prefer in the long term and there's no point discussing the finer points of whether McD's use too much ketchup or dill pickle. It's subjective - but we all know their nosh comes with well defined limitations and trade-offs. And lots of salt... I work professionally with audio and deliver demanding and complex sound dub mixes for a living, using a custom Genelec monitoring system and I used to write a monthly column in Car HiFi Magazine. Unfortunately, I no longer have time to build my own systems, or I'd just be doing this myself. While a Canton "upgrade" will suffice for many with less educated ears, it won't satisfy those who have invested in decent HiFi systems and have tasted the forbidden fruit of decent sound reproduction. There - I said it. TLDR - if your idea of good sound quality is based on Sonos or Bose home audio, you might be OK with the Canton. If your ears are used to Naim, Linn, Arcam, Shahinian, PMC, Genelec etc, skip the Canton - and buy an aftermarket system. Hopefully I haven't offended too many people Ben.
  40. To remove the upper grill its a bumper off job then remove. If you are trying to remove the chrome trim its 99% chance it will break up in your hands when removing. Here is some material on how to do it. Removing the grill
  41. You need a MIB2 from mid 2015 onwards (probably 2016 model year). There's been many posts on here about MIB2 retrofitting - basically you'll need a new screen, new main unit (in the glovebox), all FeC (Feature Codes) reenabling and CP (Component Protection) removing.
  42. Couple of little things I noticed are missing. The cup holder which fits into the console between the seats & the protective plug insert for the cigarette lighter. As these are missing make sure you have all the tools in the spare wheel well especially the wheel security socket.
  43. They're excellent cars. My 2015 1.6 tdi has just done 191k and is only now starting to show niggles. I've just paid a deposit on a replacement 2020 1.5 Tsi
  44. Perhaps you've had a read of the forum during this purchase process. A few things below to check. Make sure they give you the genuine Skoda SAT NAV SD card as you cannot use it without one. On a plus is its been "used" at the mileage which is good the diesel engine generally. It should have had a cambelt change by now. I would highly recommend you check the colour of the coolant in the coolant expansion tank. It should be bright pink. I would check after its being warmed up you have heating on both the drivers and passengers side, wack the heating dials up to check this. Read this thread for further info. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/487819-bag-in-coolant/
  45. I've got a mark 3 car with the 1.5 engine, personally I wish that I had virtually any other engine in the range other than that one! If you are thinking of going back to a Mark 3 car, maybe worth looking at the diesel engines which are pretty good all in all or even the one litre engine.
  46. At last and after a long break - here's the latest update of my customised version of EUR Speedcams ( February, 2021). They consist of the full EUROPE speed cameras which I've split up into four consolidated poi categories i.e. Fixed Speedcams, Average Speedcams, Variable Speedcams and Redlight Speedcams. They come supplied with my own preferred personal choice of icons, shown below, to match each of the categories. Remember to Install them as I explained in the first post in this thread i.e. after extracting the zip file remember to open the newly extracted folder and place only the PersonalPOI folder and metainfo2.txt file onto your sd card ( Please Note: a usb stick will not work! ). Also, please remember to select/tick the relevant newly added poi categories and the poi audible warning alert in your infotainment map menu settings after performing the update or they will not display on your map or audibly alert you. Hope you all enjoy them! EUR Speedcams February, 2021.zip
