  1. Yes, but they try to keep a low profile - if you have a problem that you think needs attention then use the "Report" option which you'll find under the ... in the top right of the post you want to report.
  2. Have you tried pressing down on the padding where the belt goes over the backrest to create more slack..to then feed the slack into the top slot, to then be able to unlock the mechanism & pull the belt forward?
  3. My insurance literally doubled in July. Went from £267 to £590. Managed to get it to £390 through Chris Knott, a Briskoda sponsor. It’s the underwriting insurance cartel which has got together and decided to rack-up the costs. Blatant profiteering.
  4. Car all done no more bus tfft !!
  5. @YannickWelcome to the forum. @automassis the outcome that the tyre leaked and needing replacing and it is the title that is False and the warnings were correct?
  6. I've honestly never known a more hostile forum that Briskoda.... Back on topic, problem solved and no more annoying message. 😃
  7. Mine is a little older, although is a V8 too😁
  8. No tripod with me this evening, so not the sharpest photo...........
  9. Just found this new video that has done some actual tests on after market lamps v OEM the results might surprise you.
  10. Update today. I have had no success trying to find a local Bridgestone dealer who was interested in handling a warranty claim and passing back a refund to me, so I emailed Tom and explained my predicament. I had another phone call from him today, and he has offered to supply 2 x brand new Turanza 6 tyres to my local garage. I will buy 2 x new ones and they will collect the old tyres with no further compensation. Seems like a good deal to me which I am willing to accept. The tyres should be at my local garage in early January.

There are all sorts of weights, and even those that can not tow. Or could but would be trouble if you did fit a towbar and it goes t!t5 up.
  12. @smecscan you make a recording of the sound?
  13. Don't waste money on snake oils unless you really want too because you like shopping. Thinker oil might dampen noise, it might even increase oil pressure, but it does not lubricate better or sort anything. Just use the correct oil for the engine, to VW504 00 / 507 00
  14. I drove 500 miles on 3 cylinders after having removed a conrod and piston in an aire d'autoroute after running a big end bearing, I used a jubilee clip and plastic shim to block the oil hole in the damaged crankshaft journal. It was amazing how smoothly it ran on 3 cylinders without a piston opposing compression on the 4th cylinder, someone could even sell a car like that saying it was slightly down on power, possible misfire 😄
  15. Now I'm confused. What's the statement I ignored?
  16. Car confirmed for delivery on 5 Jan. Getting excited now! 😃
  17. At least they're not like the vile moderation team on Railforums who will put you on moderation permanently or ban you for the slightest indiscretion. I've been banned for asking for help in posting a photo! WTF?

I'm fairly sure this is more to do with the braking ability more than the car's ability to haul the weight. Towing does put extra stress on the car; TDIs are good haulers (even though you need the larger rad upgrade on TDI150 engines). Definitely as stated above...more planning reqd and mechanical sympathy needed when towing.

There is not a black and white answer to that question, once on the move there is no load on the clutch, how you pull away when laden, what route you choose to avoid hillstarts, how you plan ahead and creep across junctions (if you can) how good you are at reversing are all factors that will decide the life of your clutch, some people can burn one out in the above scenarios even without towing, others like me can tow more than double the rated weight for 10000 kms without clutch problems but had I found myself in the wrong situation that could have been undone very quickly. Diesels with their taller gearing are harder on the clutch during a laden hillstart or even pulling away from standstill on the level. Anticipation and mechanical sympathy are the key elements.
  20. Thanks for sharing - A great review to sort out the hype from reality.

As usual, it depends where you intend to drive it, but I get about 30 miles in the summer, and 22 ish in the winter. i live i a fairly hilly area, and include some motor way use in that, which is not the best place to use up the battery really. for me, if I’m working from home, and just using it locally for days at end, then you can get away with not starting the engine ever. I got close to 1000 miles out of a recent tank of 35litre petrol fuel up. During that time, it was probably costing me about 12p a mile, which is cheaper than using petrol at about 14p, but not loads cheaper. If the weather is warm, you’ve got a tail wind, you turn the interior heating off, and start out with a warm battery whilst driving on a flat 40mph limit road, then yeah, I reckon you could muster 40 miles of range out of it. Maybe. I’m happy with it, but it’s a company car, so makes sense to me, not sure the extra cost would pay itself back if it were a private choice, as the savings aren’t huge unless you’ve got mega cheap electric.
  22. Thanks so much for sharing, really interesting. My OEM Xenons remain more than adequate but the vid has confirmed I should stick with OEM bulbs if I need to swap. I still prefer the old school option of replacing the front grill with mesh and adding a bank of additional lights behind it for real bright coverage LOL
  23. Just a quick update. I emailed KYB (UK) asking if the 2 part numbers were the same physically. Almost immediately I had a reply, with a guy telling me to call him. I called and we had a chat about the 2 part numbers. He was very helpful and it turns out the 335808 is suitable for my car. (The ebay seller didn't have the Ultra SR, so I don't think they were trying to up sell me ......) I managed to locate 1 locally and fitted it with a new top mount and the knocking (my original problem) has gone. I am now waiting for the second one (off the internet) to arrive. Shout out to KYB for their help and super fast response. Thanks for the above help too.
  24. As people do now. The real story is about Fleets, Busses, HGV,s Light Commercials, Taxis etc etc. Business and Commercial who should be getting Solar and Turbines and Battery Storage in place. The system is tried and tested globally already so where is the UK Innovation. It is just the Westminster Government dragging behind after Theresa May MP when PM was going on about the UK leading the world in EV technology a puckle of years back. Putting Millions into the young businesses.
  25. Thank you too. Useful to know, to be able to advise others accurately. 👍
  26. The above video is by a click batting loon. Actual facts are:- https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/coromandel-luxury-bach-fire-ev-not-to-blame-for-cooks-beach-home-blaze/4LKGZP7MAVCLXFSOGXKV5KWVEU/ ......Social media posts and a media outlet then reported a witness as saying the fire had been started by an EV (electric vehicle) in the home’s garage. But Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) investigator Ed Hopping said that was not the case. “The investigation is still ongoing... but I’m comfortable to put it out there in the world that the fire wasn’t a result of the battery in the car failing,” Hopping said. He said the fire started within the home, while the car was parked outside the garage and was not plugged in for charging at the time. It’s just important to put out there that hybrid cars... aren’t that vulnerable to fires,” Hopping said. “And then in this instance, the car wasn’t plugged in and wasn’t inside the garage or the structure.” Another Youtube maligned fantasy piece of crap...
  27. It was on my phone. I will check on computer shortly.
  28. yeah crazy isnt it.... I'd hope they changed that on the facelift & later versions.....
  29. Don't stress....they'll fix it no charge
  30. ok kompa imam 2 takve rs- i svaka je imalaprblem iako nema kapljica vode ili da pliva onda forget about it. postoji 2 riješenja - 1 . probušiti rupu na faru sa zadnje donje strane ili bezbolnije nabavi foliju za stakla kao ppv za zaštitu fara. nema magle i imaš zaštitu. so basic no warranty can cover this unless there is water in hedlights. but u can use ppv for protection. there will be no more fog
  31. Kilen/Lesjofors lists 3Q0511115N rear springs for the VW Passat B8 estate 4motion 190PS. 5Q0411105GN front springs do seem to be the way to go to match the uprated 3Q0511115N rear springs. However, the VW Passat B8 estate 4motion 190PS uses slightly shorter (but the same stiffness) (perhaps about 10mm to 15mm shorter) 5Q0411105CH front springs, so that's another option. I would go with the 5Q0411105GN front springs because 5Q0411105CH would reduce the front suspension travel and increase the risk of the front suspension bottoming out, plus I'm not keen on the look of a dropped front end. Kilen 25123 and Lesjofors 4095137 are the same springs, made in the same factory in Sweden. Just sold under two different brand names. Kilen is more widely marketed in the UK. Lesjofors is more widely marketed in many European countries. Perhaps they think the name Kilen sounds better in English than Lesjofors. Just purchase whatever is available cheaper from a reputable supplier. 5Q0411105GN front springs (Kilen 25123, Lesjofors 4095137, etc.) https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/5q0411105gn?supplier[]=253&supplier[]=246 5Q0411105CH front springs https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/5q0411105ch?supplier[]=246&supplier[]=253
  32. Thank you @fabdavrav that worked! I had not noticed that the top cap is missing ans so the belt and the button on it slips passed and gets jammed. Would anyone know how I can find the part number to order a new cap like the other 2 have?
  33. Thanks for this. I had considered that option, but it's not for me. To be honest this infotainment unit has too many x's and not enough +'s to persuade me to keep it. In all honesty I've lost confidence in car touch screens. The unit came with the car in 2017, and was basically a freebie in the Yeti Drive model. We won't be selling the car, so I'm going to get a certified local radio fitter to install a Kenwood radio. Although I'm happy enough to get the existing unit out, I'm not confident enough to retro fit it myself with all this Canbus and Fakra stuff, so best I get it fitted with a guarantee. Added to that, I'm 77, still recovering from 2 lots of major surgery, and not as strong, agile or fit as I used to be. Last thing I need is a DIY job ending in a smoking dashboard. Thanks for trying to help. I appreciate it. Keith
  34. Could it be a faulty sensor then! why not to try new sensors. they are not very expensive. Even I was shopping around to buy and as my problem sorted i didn't bother to buy. autodoc or aliexpress sell them.
  35. A Dealership Parts department can tell you the Part Number of a Hatch & an Estate rear Hatch, if the parts are not available on line. Is this Blue one for a Mk3?
  36. @automassDid you pinpoint the problem, as in what corner the tyre was fitted at that then gave a False warning, or was it actually one of the tyres that was replaced that caused it?

Any Rules on the Vehicles & Towing is easy to find online. As is what changed on the Licence held and what you can tow.

@Stonekeeperonly verbal from the mate with the caravan unfortunately.
  39. Normal behaviour for a DPF regeneration. How many miles are you doing between occurences? What is your habitual journey profile, how many miles, average speed, urban or autoroute etc? Regens should normally only happen when up to operating temperature and a host of other conditions, if they cannot complete (you end the journey before completion) then after a couple of occurences it will start regenning from cold. Have you not noticed the radiator fans running when this happens and also them running after engine shut down?
  40. Mine went from £550 to £897 Ironically I had quote that if I had a stage one, aftermarket alloys and lowered it would have been around £225 lower!

No they wont, the mechanics are on a bonus for doing jobs quicker than the book time, the customer gets billed for the inflated book time and the garage and mechanic rub their hands together.
  42. Blame these Guys The bridge hasn't worked since 2019, however due to extra money gained from HS2, the good new is next year hopefully it will be repaired, made structurally sound and then hopefully back working again.
  43. If you need any ideas on OEM & good mods & problem solving for the Golf I am on the MK7 Golf forum..& have written a lot of mods...& still doing them!...even though my MK7 Golf estate is now 9yrs old! I'm under a different name on the "golfmk7" forum...I did link my threads to a list on the MK3 Octavia section (as its the same car more or less)...If you need any help you know where to find me!
  44. Parts are done-laser cut today. Now welding time
  45. And we're back. Lowered on H&R Maxton front, sides and rear bits Hella Supertone Horns New grill Full custom Spyro the Dragon wrap Ceramic coated Rotiform SIX alloy in gold Still left to do later: New speakers/under seat subwoofer RGB Underglow (Hashtag bring back neons) Tints
  46. If you cancel your tyres check out Goodyear Assymetric 6’s, lovely and quiet and grippy as hell
  47. I have managed to sort out these two problems. Vibration- went to another garage and balanced wheels again, which helped. Buzzing sound from engine bay - air intake covers... see picture ( they made so much noise that I thought it comes from gear box)

"Dad mods" Next up was some rather mundane but nice additions in the form of new interior mats with grey piping. And a full set of Oem mud flaps (listed as will not fit vRS- but they fit fine)
  49. *In your opinion*
