Was holidaying nearby last week so nipped over to RAF Coningsby one evening and got a few while they were night flying.

Been doing up an old lodge and been working with an old skool slater, sorting and holing slate, also hand cutting slate bullets. Been a labour of love over the last 10 months. Pleased with a silhouette of the slater chalking his lines and another of some roof detail and the renovated chimney. Popped out today to get a few bits and managed a quick snap of the landscape. As far as I remember the sport line non-dcc is 15mm lower. All DCC equipped cars (sport line or not) are 10mm lower. This is a design intent constraint of the DCC shocks. Doesn't mean different length springs can't be fitted. Just that the design intent dictates no variation from the factory. It's the same on the Octavia and probably on all other vag models too.

Previously, legislation didn't allow access to these features in the UK, but now you can press a button on your app and your car will come out and meet you. As long as it's private land, of course. It will take a change in legislation to allow it on the road. The moment you activate the app you would be committing the offence? (on a public road)

You have misunderstood. The pollen filter is due now. It was not done as the dealer has said that the Skoda computer system they use wouldn't allow them to do it. It is very clear it is due to be done and the dealer is refusing to do it. The latest statement from the dealer to customer service is a joke. That conversation never happened and I shouldn't have to point out the defence is utterly wrong as I have an All In One policy where I pay a monthly fee to get that work done as per the service schedule Skoda lays out on their web site. I am not going to renew my all in one policy if I can after the end of it. I will be selling the car at some stage. Skoda is clearly losing the plot with the Customer service team who really don't understand the issue and just getting paid for doing nothing other than winding up customers.

Just adding this to help anyone else out. 2014 Octavia Estate 1.4 tsi So my car was not over heating, and the coolant level was about 1cm below minimum so I must have caught it in time. As I reversed the car off the drive I noticed a small puddle. Putting a tissue on this and you could see it was pink. Left the car unused and the level didn't drop, so must have only leaked when under pressure. Opened the bonnet and if you looked here you could see some dampness on the ledge to the right of where the water pump was. Took it to the garage, and after investigation you could see the gasket had split. Replaced the water pump and drive belt and all is good .

Instead of asking them to put it right, tell them to put it right. The car is pretty much new, so obviously under warranty. They have to put it right if there is a fault. Simple as that.

They have said it’s the the oil circulating and now it’s the catalytic converter and perfectly normal i don’t know if I am being paranoid but I haven’t heard an engine make this noise before

Have you considered an Octavia Scout as an alternative? You'll get the 4x4 drive, it's a bit higher than a standard Octavia so will be easier for the elderly to get in and out of, and it's a very practical car. But the Kodiaq would seem to me to be the better of the two on your shortlist, given the info provided. The Superb might be a bit big for your wife, if she's nervous about driving big cars.

I would take it back and insist one of the Skoda team take it out for a drive with you as a passenger in the front seat. Let them see the problem for themselves in your presence, and then ask them to put it right. I think if you return it for them to sort out without them having experienced the problem in your presence, the RAC man might be right about them fobbing you off.

I thought they'd removed them as the G12 Evo coolant has made the bag obsolete. My MK3 FL doesn't have it from 2017.

Sportline is defintely lower as I have a L&K and my friend has the Sportline Superb. Mines sat higher than his before I upgraded to coilovers. Probably be cheaper if you bought Bilstein's B6 Shocks and Eibach springs than buying new Sportline suspension. I have DCC aswell and used John's guide to recalibrate the coilovers which made a such a difference to the ride.

Thanks but softscoops advice worked. I was just pressing the wrong combo of buttons. Stereo is reset and working normally... Garage are looking at it tomorrow to see why stop/start isn't working... I'm not too bothered as I don't use it anyway, I just don't like things not working that should 😁

No problem mate. For your car, just keep it simple, no need to overcomplicate or overthink on this. As has been mentioned, give it a good charge. If it's still a bit sluggish or loses charge quickly, just chuck another on and don't worry. My son's battery was around 8 years' old when it failed (the original). I tried recovering it but my smart charger gave me an error saying the charger voltage didn't match the battery voltage, so it was FUBAR. As was confirmed above, a voltage over 12v would indicate the battery is decent (see post above).

Thanks numskull, really hepful. A sensor sounds like a strong possibility, the lights come on more often after rain. I wasn't sure if I was not finding garages because I was searching wrong or because there aren't any to find. I've just got to figure out the logistics of getting the kids (and enormous car seats) to from Aberaeron now. There is a great soft play near which will go well on the bribery front.

About 26 days before is a good time to renew. The nearer you get to renewal date the higher the premium and less offers from insurers to draw you to them. Avoiding certain times can also save you on premiums. Adjusting your excess can not only save you on premiums but also on excess, adjusting excess figures to a certain extent may not alter the premium (i.e less excess for same premium cost). Things that can help, like having other driver(s) on the policy (subject to age, etc.) and you having access to drive other car(s), trying a different job title, employment type, . . . obviously you must be honest in all you do. I can assure you from my wife's accident earlier this year (THE afternoon of the night the new insurance was to be placed!!) will being open claim increase your renewal premium, a lot. Have a look at Money Saving Expert for tips. Also, we went trough TopCahback's Compare site and got insurance via one of the big comparison sites and got a quote very slightly less than if we didn't go through TopCashback Compare for exactly the same insurer and policy and last year we got £42 back from TopCashback this year £45. It's a nice, large car - the hire car they gave as a "like for like" was a BMW 5 Series Sports hybrid, but it had neither the cabin room capacity nor the boot capacity. The fuel economy could have been better if I was able to charge it but without that ability at home I was getting about 20 mpg on a below 50l tank. It had nice handling but I'm glad to be back with the Superb (minus my excess amount). That being said, the large size is primarily for the comfort of my family and ease of driving over long distances. My premiums last year were with NCD (and NCD protection). I'll have to see how much it'll go up given one claim (non-fault) - the only issue is that it's an open claim as to a closed one. Thank you for posting that, yes that makes sense given if you have a claim yet still have a no claims discount protection. Some discount is better than no discount. Trouble is these things are dealt with by TTEC call centre staff who, while I'm sure are everyday nice people, are even more clueless than dealer service advisors and just accept anything they're told.

It is possible that someone has damaged it when working on the vehicle as they are very brittle plastic.

Very common its part of the evap system to recirculate fuel vapours from the tank to the engine. Fitted loads. Full pipe usually comes with the purge canister valve and resonator etc. if you look at the resonator that clips into the coolant tank then there should be a part number you can use.

Consider taking up motorsport, it will be far more rewarding and worthwhile plus the mods that you make will add value to and not devalue your vehicle.

Hi all, so last weekend got the car back, here's some random pics: I think they technically missed a spot on the B-Pillar, where there's a bit of primer that wasn't covered with white, but it's nice and lacquered, so not going to worry. The rest is not too bad, and the use of the stone chip for the sill underside hopefully helps. The benefit of having relatives in this industry is that from their overall quote of £2800, I was asked for less, and paid £1200 for the job. Given the amount of effort, I'm very happy with the result. Most of the rust they encountered and ground down appears to have been surface rust somehow rather than my fear of coming from the inside out. I'll give the car 3-4 years before I go further with it, and hopefully by then there'll be more power and whatnot assuming all's well. Assuming none of this comes back again... Only niggles were that the doors were off which triggered the airbag light, but nothing the VCDS couldn't clear (missing sensors, which makes sense as the doors were missing). The other niggle was that the car was left standing for long periods of time, which took its final toll on the battery. Despite leaving it overnight on a trickle charger, a trip to the petrol station to fill up left me stranded and standing like a lemon when my backup jump starter couldn't give it enough juice to tick over. I was at the mercy of a kind white van man who drove over and lobbed over his jump leads. Was super lucky he was around and it was early enough in the morning to have not caused a massive queue at the forecourt. That poor original Moll battery was ditched, and amusingly, lying around in the garage was a 096 battery. Specifically a Yuasa YBX5096, so technically not compatible with this car due to not really being suited to start-stop. However, that's been on the trickle charger for years, and it starts up the car without issue, so will suffice whilst I recover from the bodyshop bill and swap it with a proper one. Wife doesn't like the start-stop so disabling it is usually the first thing she does, so the battery will tide me over for a while. Would make sense that a YBX9096 is the target. I think that's that for a while though. Maybe I'll take pics of a battery change if really required, but other than planning for the future and maybe some tiny bits, the car's ready to be used! May as well keep and fix - if only for the pleasure in doing so... I repaired my FIL's Teac A150 a few years ago for similar reasons - it's still functioning but not used as he's now passed away but one day I'll bring it home and use it. Well my Sony TC-K570 did a death squeal this morning and the cassette tray won't open. I'm sure I must've used it at least once in the last decade Watching videos on YT seems to suggest it's the belts, which would be no surprise. A belt kit's only about £7, and I think (ever the optimist) I could do it, but if I won't use it again before the new belts are goo/perished, what's the point. The unit itself isn't worth a light, repaired or not, so I think I'm just being sentimental in not wanting to just throw it away. Sad day 😧 Gaz

Maybe my post do not complies with forum rules and I am so sorry if I'm doing something wrong, but this situation is really serious and against the warranty law: Skoda refuses to fix it, asks for money, with truly incoherent and embarrassing excuses although there is a solution! So I decided to do an upload of the 8755 software file in hopes of doing some good. I'll post the link in the next message so that at least these words can remain. The absurd thing is that many Skoda assistance centers throughout Europe are unaware of the existence of this firmware and they don't even know why. An assistance center, who learned of its existence through me, told me that in official documents 8755 results as compatible only with 695 hardware, but it is not true, as seems that some of you can confirm. The further absurdity? Swing Plus produced since mid-2020 already have the 8755 installed. You can find it by searching, in Google images, "8755 MIB2" or "8755 696", "8755 695" and so on: you will find external labels of the hardware showing the software number. Why are Skoda and VW doing all this to us? We should file a class action and seek compensation, also to avoid other similar problems in the future, but evidently it's one of those situations where solving it ourselves it's more realistic.. and costless. After having struggled for a long time in vain, after being blamed and being told that - the phone is bad or too new (later discovering that it is expressly declared compatible by Skoda) - our cable is faulty, buy another one - to buy the Volkswagen cable which costs a lot and is much worse etc. etc. , all without any written trace, other than threatening them.
