  1. Glorious weather at Attenborough nature reserve earlier - they are revamping the area near the Sand Martin hide 🦉
  2. @Djadjo78 @katanasan0 Check your PM's
  3. I bought a 2020 2.0tdi DSG earlier this year and it drove exactly the way you've described with significant lag on a acceleration. I knew the DSG "learns" your driving style and can appear sluggish if you have a Conservative driving style. There are several videos on YouTube that details "resetting" the DSG so that it can then learn your driving style and for me this has worked very well. I use my Octavia for Private Hire with loads of Motorway miles. In Eco Mode it now responds very quickly, gives excellent MPG due to its Coasting abilities and it is a pleasure to drive. Try a gearbox reset, it's quick, you don't need any special tools and if it doesn't seem to to work you've not lost anything.
  4. Your dsg is a DQ200 because it is FWD, no more than 192 ps or 250 Nm. Fleets might well be serviced to recommended manufacturers servicing. So if the spark plugs have not been changed or the brake fluid has not then you car has not been. The record of servicing is digital and on the VW Group system, So the dealer or any dealer or Skoda Customer Services can provide you with it, or someone on here will tell you how to find it online.
  5. Welcome. Small capacity 3 cylinder petrol turbo engine, 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG and a not small car. Maybe not run much recently. What service history has it got? FMDSH means nothing if just oil and filter changes and look see and report. Have you tried moving the shifter back to S as you roll up and then once you have moved on with the gears getting held before shifting up, put it back to D. Maybe try a tank of E5 Super Unleaded as well. 97 or 99 ron. Before any DSG (DQ200) reset, how many miles has the car done? Is there a nice clean air filter fitted, and the spark plugs need changed maybe.
  6. A larger battery does not put a strain on the alternator. The alternator just puts in what other systems take out. The battery is just storage.
  7. Welcome. More info needed, like how many km / miles the car has done. Best you say what engine the car has & what is it that has been replaced so far.
  8. +1 It's often several hours out of date, the worst example I've experienced was telling me about roadworks that had finished a YEAR earlier!
  9. Depends on how you drive, most of the extra power is nearer top of rev range, so if you're the kind of person who rarely does more than say 4000 revs not really going to notice it very often. But UK spec means to get 2 litre get the 4x4 system which adds dead weight (think of it like carrying few sacks of cement around) which wouldn't do if you wanted to drive a sports car. Also now need to watch the £40k extra Vehicle excise duty threshold, so unless you voluntarily like paying extra tax for 5 years, might not be best option. Anyone worried about grip would be better buying a set of rims and winter tyres, about half the price of upgrading to 4x4 system, and lot more effective. Lots of wheels to choose from https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/639a0118-4da5-446b-a786-86e1f789b57b
  10. I've already tested it, i put the nav card in slot 2 and checked it worked before putting the glove box back in and leaving that card in slot 2 leaving slot 1 free. Navigation is reading fine so all good so far.
  11. Colourful end to the day yesterday.....
  12. Mine started to reboot after the update to 1896. Until then, it was smooth AF. I am having other friends with 1896 for the cars that were made for 2021, early 2022 and they all say they are facing the issue randomly. So, I believe that this is a bug within the software that may get resolved in a future release.
  13. Sorted - surprised no-one else has had this issue the pin in the boot the latch goes round has a sleeve on it which is meant to rotate when the latch engages . Ours was seized, so it tried to lock and couldn’t wd40 to the rescue local garage sorted it while car was in for service
  14. Thanks, I will be a regular member😁 I will be posting the process of installing of the AC on the Favorit on this thread. And yes, the cat is called Selotejp (Duct tape is the translated name from Croatian, I call him that because he is always by my side and always goes wherever I go hahaha🙉)
  15. I assume your engine is a AFH/AVY hybrid. 1.6 16V + A/C on a Favorit is just EPIC. I'd like to learn more about your car. I hope you will become a regular member. Welcome. (Looks like the black cat wants a part from the Felicia too. )
  16. Thanks varooom! update flawless 😎
  17. I actually think they might fit. Plenty stories of people fitting non-skoda seats in Octavias. If you have physical access to the arteon seats I'd take a tape to them and compare. You definitely need to match electric spec. If you currently have heated then you need that. One thing you may need to do is change the plugs. A trip to a scrap yard should sort that.
  18. Whoever told you about the DSG knew nothing about them then. The DQ200's were early DSG's and do not need oil changes. So you are OK there. (So it is wet clutch DSG's that get Oil or Oil & filter changes, early ones @ 40,000 miles, some now are first at 80,000 miles) As i said, a FMDSH or a FSH actually is a history of what is done, not just simply like Oil & Inspection Service, & Pollen Filter, then Extended Scope. You want to know when or if the brake fluid is changed, the spark plugs, etc etc. Spark Plugs were due at 4 years or 40,000 miles. The pollen filter twice by now. The Brake fluid is at 3 years then each 2 years. Not that those all get done, but they should be when someone is Servicing to the Manufacturers recommendations, guidelines of schedule. If not been done, it is a 'Full history of stuff not done'.

    It’s funny you should say that… https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202304066019700
  20. If you want seats that fit a Superb get Superb seats, it could be more trouble than its worth trying to get non Superb seats to fit, not to mention the cost and hassle involved. Perhaps ask a seat upholsterer how much it would cost to recover your current seats.
  21. Today I've actually realised that I still have a warranty on the car so I'll be on the phone on Monday morning to see if they want to try wiggling out of it.

Thanks for the advice guys, had another look at it today with my Dad. He spotted that sparks were coming from one of the connections when I cranked it over. We then discovered that the connection didn't have a nut on it. Put a new one on and it's all good now!
  23. I've not posted on here for a while as other cars and life gets in the way. We've still got the VRS and it's done us proud in the 4 years we've owned it. I've just changed the oil at 114043 miles, so much later than I intended. I had every intention of changing it at every 6k miles but it's not happened on this occasion. I'll make sure I do so after this slightly longer than recommend service interval. I've been using top quality longlife Castrol oil, so it's only a couple of thousand miles over Skoda's service schedule. The aircon is still cold but needs a recharge for summer. It's had a CV gaitor for the MOT this year, which I identified as the start of a small tear and asked the garage to fix before the MOT. I was slightly irked by him failing it on this and then passing it as it blemishes the MOT history. I suppose that doesn't matter on a 2006 car, which we plan to keep until it's run into the ground. I really need to change the oil more regularly than this last change with that in mind. My Mrs has moved jobs and travels further now, so oil changes will come quicker. It will need new front discs when the front pads wear out, which I'll do. We've also had a pair of rear calipers on it after one leaked. The MOT man noted front bushes as an advisory but I can't see the issue, having checked them before the MOT and today. We'll see what he says next year. There's no knocking and they're not split at all. This has turned out to be a good car. Kirkynut
  24. I wouldn’t think they would. On the front seats, the chance that the seat runners would be in the same location, the seat width would be the same and the electrical controls would be compatible would be, well, unlikely. Putting aside the width, depth and length of the rear cushion matching the Superb, rear seat back fittings will not be the same. And they won’t match the doorcards or headlining. This could be a much better approach….
  25. And we do not know what is the point where many or most people on Earth may be severely affected by the level of CO2, and Methane and other greenhouse gases, that the weather makes life very difficult. It might be that we are already there judging my the drought in Southern Europe and Northern Africa affecting the growing of fruits and vegetables as seen in the prices of such items brought on by low crop yields. The Rhine to shallow to move cargo barges and cause higher transport costs, the snow line ever higher on European mountains meaning the loss of some's livelihood. Even SE England is suffering with water shortages. The prospect and reality it sounds like our government is going to spend billions (£20B earmarked) on carbon capture. Money that could be better spent elsewhere if we did not have this problem of too slow adoption of EVs which is also down to the government of the last 13 years failing to adopt EVs as quick as other countries and also roll out the uptake of heat pump home heating. This £20B of carbon capture fees needs to be put on to fuel prices and electricity from fossil fuels but we also need to be charged properly for energy we use when we use it which one can do partially with off peak tariffs ie using nuclear and renewables base load power not dumping CO2 in to the atmostphere and hastening us to Armageddon.
  26. Received the bolt needed to hold the armrest to the base so got it fitted in place. Just got the trim to fit
  27. Found a part number for this gasket/seal a bit accidentally yesterday while researching a Polo lock part number, it appears also on some Skoda drawings. Cheap (price shown is before VAT) but haven't actually spoken to a Skoda or VW dealer about availability. I've got some coming via ebay for the convenience but might just grab a few from local dealership if still available, for futureproofing reasons.
  28. Many thanks to you both -- and also to Pete. It appears my model should have a 60Ah battery, 50% more than the 40Ah than is currently installed, which explains a lot. The 'options' label decoder is very handy too. Thanks for that. T.
  29. Why not compare the OE size tyres/wheels against your proposed size using a tyre calculator to see what the increase in diameter is (the rule of thumb is no more than 2% either way) and what the offset of the wheels will do to how far in/out the tyre is? An example: https://tiresize.com/tyre-size-calculator/
  30. Thanks for sharing. This is bound to come in useful in the future.
  31. Electrical diagrams and devices: Heating and air conditioning https://epowering.cz/skoda-felicia-dilenska-prirucka-elektrika/ (a part from my second link), it's far better than the Haynes manual.
  32. TESLA prices continue to fall......... (France, Germany) what is the UK doing ?? Let us hope we see similar price drops in the UK shortly ! 42k Euros is £37.5k in GBP !!!!!! We have finally reached the sub £40K level !!!! Hurray. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/tesla-cuts-price-model-3-germany-website-2023-04-14/ FRANKFURT, April 14 (Reuters) - Tesla (TSLA.O) has lowered the price of its Model 3 in Germany by 2,000 euros, or 4.5%, to 41,990 euros ($46,462) per vehicle, according to data on its website. The carmaker also cut the prices for the long range and performance versions of the Model 3. The Model 3 Performance version now sells for 54,990 euros, a discount of 9.8% compared the previous price. Tesla also cut the price of its Model Y Performance by 9.2% to 60,990 euros. The Model Y Rear Wheel Drive and Long Range prices remained the same. https://twitter.com/TroyTeslike/status/1646831002487070721/photo/1
  33. I noticed a similar thing the other day but didn't think much about it. The TMC icon was inactive. I never find it that accurate anyway . Cheers

As requested @Danoid there is plenty of clearance between the headlight wiring harness and the A/C compressor lines.
  35. You should ask Uwe over on the Ross-tech forum, I don't they want it as common knowledge given the issues it could cause

I'm not surprised your consumption has increased using those tyres. All AT tyres are known to do that due to the type of compound used and the "grippier" tread pattern. I used my Yeti's off road considerably, using the standard road tyres and never had a problem.

That's what I used on mine. Will report back in a year to see if it's bubbled back over again. Regardless, be sure to get the rusty area cleaned back to metal if it's just surface rust.
  38. Think, I think it's a similar story for most brands. I have been quoted similar lead times by 2 different Skoda dealers, and different lead times for different models (originally enquired about VRS 4x4 as well and both quoted same time - can't remember what it was, but was shorter than SE-L and both dealers gave the same lead time). At the end of the day not too bothered, other cars I am looking at are already on longer quoted lead-times, but also if you look at something like the Volvo V60 CC, there is very little in the way of options I would choose so might even be able to pick one up from dealer stock. Zero chance of finding an Octavia in my ideal spec, or even any 4x4 (unless VRS, which I don't want). The Octavia wins out on costs, but a car on my drive is worth two in the factory 🤣
  39. To say I'm obsessed is an understatement
  40. Yes, but not without a crystal ball. Press and hold the Menu/Setup button for 10 seconds, post back image or details. Looking for Software Train value.
  41. I may point out as well that during the pandemic there were little to no potholes getting filled in, so they bred nearly as fast as Covid. Sometimes it's impossible to manouevre around them when there are oncoming vehicles etc. Not all tyre problems were due to potholes, I generalised. Loads of nails, screws, bolts etc that would be impossible to avoid even with laser vision.
  42. Superb MK3 discussion. MK2 Octavia has smaller tyres. I'm sure you knew that given your usual detailed response so this is for the benefit of others reading in the future.
  43. Go for 16's. 15s are too small. You'll get better handling with larger ones
  44. Yes. The car originally had 18" alloys and we opted to change to 16" steel wheels for three reasons a) the comfort of the passenger, b) to reduce road noise which was causing havoc with handsfree calls and c) because the car was going through a tyre a week on average due to potholes (used predominantly at night). The cost of the original tyres on the 18" rims was £120 a corner. The cost of the 16" tyres were £65 a corner. We have since upgraded to the facelift model and already we have had comments that it isn't a comfortable ride as the old 2015 on 16's (the new ones have 18's still). Debating switching them over but for the fact that steelies (even with decent wheel trims) look pants on a 2021 model.
  45. It's a matter of fashion over function now. Previously 15" wheels would be on big heavy (for the time) saloons, or sportscars, I know even very small cars now are big and overweight (particularly VW) but many/most have oversized wheels for fashion only. Depends what you're used to and when you were young and how much you value fashion or want to have bigger wheels than your neighbours, 70% profile tyres used to low profile. Some clubman racers are going back to smaller wheels for the track so maybe in the future the fashion will go to smaller tyres and wheels and big wheels and tyres will look so old fashioned. Remember the three spoke alloys wheels. 🙂
  46. Wheel-size.com shows the 15" tyre size for the Octavia MK2 1.9TDI 105PS as 205/60R15. However, wheel-size.com often make mistakes, so check the information inside the fuel filler flap. 205/60R15 is a less common and more expensive size than 195/65R15, so 195/65R15 could be the one to go for out of those two sizes. 47. 15's would look terrible on a Superb 16 is the smallest I would put on.
