Silencing the loud spoken traffic congestion warnings
I believe traffication is subscription service, free for first year. If I recall correctly I think it cost £4.50 per year and you pay for it through the ŠKODA app. Look under PROFILE -> PAID SERVICES

00883 is I think is an ignition switch problem. it could be the switch behind the barrel that has failed. Read that there is part of the switch that senses when key is in ignition that is prone to failing. It could also be loose bad connection at switch. Check the fuses near battery for corrosion/loosness as well. AlasdairAlasdair1 started following Codes 00883 and 00668 Octavia 2007- Adblu reducdant sensor

E13. Thanks, according to last year's Skoda Dealer check list, the air filter was replaced at 6 years - but clearly the new garage must have thought it needed doing again. Maybe it gets dusty at the edge of the East End of London. The spark plugs have been renewed once, 3 years ago I recall and due again next year (when car will be 8yrs old). My garage man wonders if this will be necessary - in his experience - in view of my limited 7,000miles per year, with at least half being long distance, but he said it's up to me, so if you and others think they should be changed, I'll insist. R193. thanks - yes Maxidot, I remember now. Will have a go at changing via the scroll bar.JD52 started following SmartBox no longer recognised.- Final Drive Service?
I've checked the Skoda parts listing that I use/trust and, for a 2020MY Octavia, if the car is 5E - L - 000 001 > then VAQ fluid is specified as being G 060 175 A2 If the car is NX - L - 000 001 > then VAQ fluid is specified as being G 065 175 A2. I'm not a Skoda Octavia owner is the model designation doesn't mean much to me - but it will do to you.- SmartBox no longer recognised.
After some 18 months of use, my wireless Android Auto link has died. It wuld connect automatically to the my phone in my pocket. See attached vid for what happens now. https://bigjohnd.org.uk/Octavia1/Video/SmartBox.mp4 My phone connects to the SmartBox but the car doesn't connect to the Smartbox. The car will not read my phone when it is conected directly to the USB port either. Smatlink/Android Auto/CarPlay all seem fine on my OBDII I am suspecting the Amundsen or USB port itself. Any suggestions where to look next- Final Drive Service?
The two Haldex fluids that I have ended up with, are VW Group G 060 175 A2 and VW Group G 65 175 A2. I was buying fluid online for a 2019 SEAT Leon Cupra VAQ, SEAT listed G 60 175 A2 - but my seller sent out G 65 175 A2, now I think that he assumed that the "G 65" version superceeded the earlier "G 60" version as it turned out that VW quote the "G 65" version for similar aged VW Golf when it has a VAQ. In the end I got a refund and bought the "correct for that car" version. Checking on many sites I found nothing to confirm that, but, I discovered that the Febi offering does claim to meet with both these VW Group Haldex fluids - so how important that is I can't say, for my money, I'd prefer to buy the version that is listed for "that" model of car.- Photography Thread
Funnily enough, I wondered about using an extreme ND filter to see the eclipse, but luckily remembered it didn't have any UV protection, so it would still have been potentially dangerous. I was surprised to see a chap on the BBC website saying he damaged his eyes in the last eclipse, looking at the sun through a welder's mask. I would have thought this would have been sufficient, but I've since read they aren't usually filtered enough. Something to do with a rating of 12 or above being needed (I assume this is pretty dark?)- Final Drive Service?
Cheers, I'll give the Phirm a call then and that's 5 minutes from me pretty much. Not sure about the fluid you listed after I that 'm afraid.- Silencing the loud spoken traffic congestion warnings
I'd have thought this would be similar to sat nav directions or phone calls, in that the volume can be adjusted during announcement (or call) by using the volume dial on the steering wheel. After a year of ownership (used car purchase), i've not had any traffication announcements, maybe they were turned off by previous owner.GerryL started following Silencing the loud spoken traffic congestion warnings- Rim protection 18" Gemini vrs alloys

Definitely try The Phirm - they're by Blackwater station. I spoke with them and VAS Motion when deciding where to go for my big service a year or two ago. The Phirm are a TVS dealer, but I can't actually remember why I went with them in the end - I think I just liked their answers better. Either way, I've spent a fair bit of money with them, doing stuff like my DSG, VAQ and major service, as well as LCAs, CV boots, new battery, minor service and other stuff. I plan to see them for some new brakes soon, too. @travs had his intercooler and suspension done there, and had similarly good experiences. Do you know what these are? I've only ever seen the standard VAG Haldex service kit from Febi (silver bottle with white and red labelling) or the VW one in the silver bottle. - Adblu reducdant sensor
