  2. Not sure if the newer Octavias are the same but on the Mk2 there was a top Engine mount with stretch bolts by the timing belt on top that were readily accessible and also a lower bolt on the same side accessible from the wheelarch. We found on one occasion after the cambelt was changed that the lower bolt hadn't been tightened up properly, had worked loose and was allowing some movement and a rattling / clacking noise. Tightening it properly fixed the issue so it might be worth a quick check of that??
  3. Thanks for the info guys. Seems like the Skoda official figure of 40 MPG isn't far off the mark . I think that's an MPG I can live with given the power on tap.
  4. Collect my estate this morning Already got wheels and suspension lined up, but would like to do a few more bits to it I have the 1.5 TSi 150bhp Manual FWD I’m looking at a remap by a local tuner who’s very good with VAG stuff Debating an intake, possibly the MST kit as it’s the most enclosed system But not sure what to do about the exhaust on it Wasn’t sure if a resonator delete would gain much sound Or would I need a custom exhaust somewhere I don’t mind if the exhaust tips aren’t visible But I don’t want anything that sounds rubbish Tried to do as much research as possible but struggling to find the info I need Any help would be amazing! Especially with photos

  8. KinderBean's DPF regen point is worth ruling out first, since that can come and go exactly like you describe. But because the noises started after the belt job, I'd go back to the dealer before anything else. On this engine the belt change means taking the engine mount off on the timing side. Those mount bolts are stretch bolts that should be renewed and torqued, and a mount, bracket or heat shield that hasn't gone back quite right is a classic cause of a rattle that comes and goes, and of a clunk when you blip the throttle while stationary. What I'd do: Ask the dealer for the invoice line by line and check it shows new engine mount bolts, not just the belt kit and water pump. Take it back as a post-repair concern (not a new job) and ask them to check the engine mount and bracket, the auxiliary belt and tensioner, the belt covers and any heat shields near the turbo and exhaust. Take your videos with you. The fact it was quiet before and only started after the work is the useful bit. If they find everything tight and it lines up with regens, at least you'll know. I wouldn't jump to the DMF yet when the timing of it points at the belt job.

  12. I doubt you will resolve these by updating infotainment alone. They were known to separate issues requiring fw updates for front camera and SOS module.
  13. A couple of earlier BRISKODA forum links relating to the spare-wheel/tool-kit for Fabia Mk4 models. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/522682-spare-wheel-and-central-tool-holder/ https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/533394-fabia-spare-wheel/ The image below shows a spare-wheel and the correct tool-kit for a Fabia Mk4 installed in the spare-wheel well. From the "Tyres engineered in Germany" marking I think the tyre is a Continental product and, based on the space between the tyre's tread and the inner wall of the wheel-well, it's probably a 185/65 R15 tyre fitted to a 15"-diameter wheel (ie. the wheel/tyre size of the Skoda spare-wheel option). This is the wheel/tyre size of the spare-wheel of my Mk4 and (as I mentioned above) when it is fitted into the wheel-well, part of the tyre goes beneath the plastic trim where I've red-marked the image. Realistically, the only way to know if this might present a problem putting a 16"-diameter wheel with a 195/55 tyre into the wheel-well would be to try doing it.

  16. Just over two years on mine! Car new in Oct 24 and just started getting the 'Replace key battery warning' . Car not used frequently (I'm retired) , just two to three times a week. Already had Panasonic CR2032 spare batteries, replaced the one in my key , I guess the other key (which hardly gets used) will need replacing soon. Tried using the key blade to open the key as described in the manual but couldn't get it to work. Found post on here showing exactly how to use small flat bladed screwdriver to release cover easily!
  17. I think it was optional. I’ve only seen it listed on adverts for l&k models.

  19. Ahh maybe they don't ship it in UK? I'm not talking about the Webasto or Eberspacher ones, but about the electric heater of the small coolant radiator above the pedals. I think it's also called PTC or auxiliary air heater.
  20. I don’t think I have it 😔
  21. I can't comment on the DMF as my DXRB DSG is only about a year old but there were times when it used to sound like a transit on the same road and under the same engine load and I figured out it was due to the phase of DFP re-generation that was going on. In my case, that is the clack, and the aux belts are the chirp
  22. @Cqrmine if you read the handbook most of your queries are explained there. Page 23.
  23. @Binx1310 With the new battery, you can now use the electric auxiliary air heater if it gets below 5 C in your area. I think it kicks in if it's below 5 C, your battery has more than 11V and HVAC is on Auto. It's a nice feature when it's cold outside
  24. Yes, you will need to delete all the data. It's a good idea to back up the files first if anything goes wrong, then you can just copy them back
  25. Firmware has nothing to do with the navigation system's map data.
  26. @Felix2021 Thanks for sharing this retrofit. I’m planning to do the same upgrade on my Octavia Combi RS Mk4 Facelift. You mentioned that you replaced the front side windows with: 5E3845021 – left 5E3845022 – right Do you happen to remember the part numbers of the original standard glass that you removed? Were they: 5E3845201 – left 5E3845202 – right I’d like to confirm the exact standard-glass to acoustic-glass part number change before ordering. Thanks!
  27. Hi, I am Stewart from Sydney Australia, new owner of a MY26 Skoda Superb Sportline Wagon (Combi) 195kw petrol. Previously I was driving a VW Arteon & Tiguan. To date I have been impressed with my Skoda.

  32. Thanks fella, didn't realise the Nav button differentiates it as an Amundsen. Didn't know the MIB1 map updates had stopped either, that would explain why I couldn't see updates. every day's a school day. I'm considering my options regarding an upgrade of the Infotainment system/ head unit/MIB2/MIB2.5 etc. So I've been reading related posts, but will likely do a separate post to hopefully get confirmation of what will work, and what is involved. In the meantime, I may well attempt the ECE 2020/2021 map update. Will I need to 'Delete all data on the (Skoda) SD card’ as per the portal instructions? Thanks again for your reply. Much appreciated.

  36. @Coral-C : So, we have just completed the 360 mile trip to Windsor from Scotland. M6 / M40. Not the best journey due to a combination of heavy rain, English half-term school holidays and the usual weekday traffic - plenty of accidents and delays. Get a grip people! Speaking of grip, I focused on the issue of gripping the steering wheel while using the semi-autonomous driving technology. It's a bit weird. Initially, travelling south from Carlisle to the Tebay Services in the Lakes, I had very few alerts such that I was already formulating my response to you that things were fine in our Superb. The second stint to the M6 toll services was not so good though. Plenty of alerts such that it spoilt the experience of the technology. I found myself bemoaning it to the ever-patient Mrs A over an overpriced cuppa, on the overpriced Midland Expressway toll road (I shall never complain about French or Italian tolls again, even if the Italian motorway infrastructure has a record of collapsing in and around Genova). But then the final stint down to Windsor was pretty good with only one alerts. My tentative conclusion? I need to test it again when we head north! I wonder if using the heated steering wheel might affect it. I know that a slight wriggle of the steering wheel clears the warning but so does simply tightening my grip of the wheel, in any position - debunking the theory about specifically positioned contact sensors. On that final stint I was very conscious of my hand placement and grip, somewhat defeating the purpose of the technology which is meant to lighten the mental load. I only had one warning about not paying attention which was justified as I was preoccupied with the touchscreen at the time. I hate using the screen to access settings while driving and ask Mrs A to watch the road while I am briefly fiddling. I did get warnings about taking a break after as little as 70mins which tells me that the car doesn't rate my normal driving style then 😅. More generally, I found the technology very useful in traffic jams or convoys. But my brain is still far better at reading the road ahead, second guessing the behaviour of other road users and maintaining flow & momentum. But the technology lulls me into laziness, even if the overall drive is not so enjoyable. And I enjoy driving. So the technology is good, very good but not perfect. I am glad we have it though and with time I will become more adept at using it seamlessly. I will test this again on our way back to Scotland later in the week and post again on this thread. Best wishes.
  37. If the little red light on the fob doesn't flash then reach for the 2032's before it lets you down - I test for the flashing light before each service inasmuch as the dealer picks up on it and offers to do the change for a kings ransom.........
