  1. Hi @RogueFabia , To post for sale adverts etc in the market place, yes you need to pay for Freedom or Freedom lite membership, through the site shop. (Click on the words in my post and it will shortcut by hyperlink to the right place)
  2. Sadly things have changed about ease of coding from 2021 to 2024/25.
  3. They supplied what was marked as the part on their website but i was unaware there were two versions so doubt i'd get anywhere. I took off the parking brake via the normal switch and then ran the 'start lining change mode' in VCDS to roll the EPB back while having a battery charger attached.
  4. You'll probably get nowhere but if you put the right details in and they supplied the wrong parts then they're not as described and that should trump their returns policy. Out of interest, how are you dealing with the electric handbrake?
  5. Well after quite a few years away from the Skoda fold I'm back with a bang... Previous cars have been an original Fabia VRS, and a 2011 Octavia VRS hatch, which i sold ot my father and he's still enjoying Anyway, have dabble with a few other marques, and have even been across to the EV darkside (Jaguar iPace - which despite rumours is a really nice car), but now retired and needed something practical and interesting so after my usual "try everything from £5k-100K (yes really!) as I'm not really sure what i want" I've ended up with a 6 month old Skoda VRS Estate, and it's good to be back..... Loving it in this colour, really works well with the black trim - performance is a step up from my previous VRS's, and not to far short of the iPace, and on a run can get 47mpg.... Going to do a bit of towing of the track toys, but looks like the necessary OEM equipment isn't avaialble quite yet, and there's a little bit of me that fancies getting a Tentbox for some more adventures.... A couple of mandatory pics, one from collection day, and one as i picked it back up from the detailers after a paint correction and ceramic coating
  6. Could also be that the original sensor suffered a perforation failure which caused coolant to go into the connector pins, and may now have travelled along the strands of the wires to the ECU connector. If you find wetness at pins 52/53 you will know for sure.
  7. 100% get the factory towbar. You won't save that much going with towbar prep and after market towbar. Factory bar ensures everything is correct, warranty is fully covered, it's the neatest solution, and as it was fitted from the factory you wont have to declare it as a modification to your insurance. Some MY24on cars have had problems with coding even with towbar prep.
  8. Been having problems with battery on my 2017 2.0 diesel recently: it's had to be jump started several times in the past 3 weeks. I've no discovered the problem: the radiator fan coming on very fast, and randomly, with the engine switched off. This can happen even with the engine completely cold after being stood for hours. Any experts have any ideas what could be causing this? Cheers!

We've made it to Lithuania and I've tried downloading the maps in our apartment we're renting and it was completed successfully in 35 minutes. At home, it estimated the time to download at about 3 hours before it kept failing. I'll wait until we're home to update the maps in the car as I'm worried that something could go wrong and I don't want to be without navigation to return home.

    Sorry what's sfd 1 and 2
  11. Me too, I just drove from Switzerland to Warrington (1300km) on one tank in my 2l DSG 200PS. considering 2/3 of the journey was on the French highway at around 130kph I was extremely impressed. It was always a small gripe with my previous Octavia that the tank was on the small side. Can't fault the superb for long journeys. Cavernous boot space and great for cruising.
  12. Best to use some sort of pressure device and (or?) a scan tool with the filling program, you can fill without - using patience and observation, if you keep such things in stock, some don't, and you're not of too nervous disposition (or with lack of luv for a VW product like me). I done it on my wife's 2015 1.2 TSI but bear in mind I don't luv the car (it being a VW product). If you're only topping up the lost (VW dictated coolant) then probably easier than the coolant change I done. The constant tension spring hose clips are a right PITA for any work in the engine bay so I suggest getting a set of the suitable pliers to save too much swearing and blood pressure, whichever ones you get either won't be right for this job of the next such is German engineering design. The following US Pro double set seem Ok for occasional DIY use (for easy to get at clips), other sellers and more expensive brands are available. - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132179403589 I was told setting the heat to max was a waste of time on my wife's 1.2 TSI because of the way the coolant/heating is plumbed and controlled but it's another precaution if you're going the rough old school way. Your car's not 10 years old and the water pump needs replacing, ah, 21st-century German engineering quality. Good luck, report back and perhaps consider doing a guide for others, want to do and not, what works and not.

I use a battery pack for parking mode and this is hardwired to a switched live. Will be moving this over to the Elroq next weekend.
  14. I have 332, wireless AA is fine with it. Have you not got a Primary User setup? I would start from scratch, delete all connections from your phone, eg Skoda BT/AAWireless, delete all BT connections from the car. Then pair your phone to the car via BT and see if you get the option to connect wirelessly to AA when going to the SmartLink screen. Make sure AAWireless is not plugged in! What phone do you have?

Bummer. It probably wouldn't hurt the dashcam to be permanently live (although they can generate some heat sometimes) but if you want it to power down then you should check your manual for fuses that are switched (with the ignition off/on). Things like rear wiper, radio, electric windows etc. As yet another aside ( I do like a good aside) you should change the settings to auto-off after a couple of minutes with Park mode enabled. That way the unit would power down (even when permanently live) but you also have the benefit of the Parking "overwatch" function. I have mine set up like this and if I sit in the car with the engine on the dashcam powers down after a couple of minutes but springs back to life when I start driving (must be a motion thing).

I've never heard of anyone telling their insurance about a hardwired dash cam. Best bet, really, is to use a multimeter. Traditionally, you'd have either ignition live, engine live or permanent. As things are different in this case, I would use a combination of the owners manual and a multimeter - you're looking for something like the rear wiper, etc. From what I can see, F20, F25, F38 ,F39, F66 and F67 should be contenders. F28 is the only one you should not touch. In my Octavia I used the empty Blind Spot Assist slot, as my car doesn't have it. If you have such a blank slot, use that - search a recent thread on dash cam fuse directions, by the way.
  17. Is this the first time that you have tried to get the drain plug out? Can you get a thin piece of metal (small screwdriver) under the collar of the drain plug and try to put some pressure on it (lever it outwards) as you unscrew it? Unfortunately if it it as bad as you say your may need the sump helicoiling or replacing.
  18. Picked up the Elroq RS having been driving an Octavia RS Mk4.5, wanted the 4wd, the instant torque/silent power... so far done almost 200km... Love it!!
  19. 6.66 litres per 100 km is 42.8 miles per UK gallon, very good.
  20. Error seems to be found. Damaged wiring. Colors of wiring fit to sensor wiring. Seems to happen quite often exactly in this spot. I'm going to repair it and will give feedback
  21. I bought a 21 plate VRS with no towbar prep and had a detachable aftermarket bar fitted and coded, all without problems
  22. The preparation kit involves putting in the front to back cabling. Having it avoids having to rip out the trim to insert it at a later date. Whether or not the eventual installation works properly will depend on whether or not you get Skoda to install it. I bought a mk2 Elegance back in 2012, an ex-Skoda company car, and had a Skoda removable towbar fitted before I took delivery. That cost me £1,000 back then, so £1,000 today is cheap. Check that the car is rated to tow a horsebox - it depends on the plated MAUW of the trailer, not what it actually weighs.
  23. Hi, I am still considering buying a new Octavia vRS estate petrol, to replace my 9 year old mk 3. There is a possibility I will need to tow in the future- either a horse box size , or a small bike trailer. My question is do I spec the towbar preparation at £240, or do i get the retractable towbar which is a hefty £1050? I am just not sure how much an after market fitting is, with the prior preparation completed? Anyone got any ideas? Thanks! 🙂

Bloody Octavia drivers, coming over here making claims about our Superbs. Go back to Octavialand! 😝
  25. You could not predict the future. So it was as they came from Euro 5 into Euro 6. / 6d temp. 1.2 TSI,s. Or 1.4 TDI.s They were saying VW504 00 / 507 00, so 5w 30 FS III. Fixed or Variable Servicing. But Fixed Servicing only was and is VW502 00, 5w 40 FS. But just for TSI,s. If you wanted. But they never showed that.
  26. I could barely clean it with break cleaner...imma keep track of everything for the next week to see wtf js going on
  27. 1,400 Kg and lower and 130/150 ps-300 ps, or more might be enough fun for many with the right tyres & on UK roads with the 60 mph NSL. & not that high insurance cost for many. Best plan is try before you buy, or before dismissing out of hand. Loads of cheap used ones of all flavours coming in the next couple of years.
  28. If you live in Europe, be sure to get a factory-fitted tow bar for a new vehicle. This will save you any SFD 2 discussion when retrofitting.
  29. It's booked in to Skoda Winchester on the 21st, so hopefully they can get to the bottom of it... Software on cars... 🙄 Thanks for your help, both 🙂
  30. Whoops! Apologies, thanks for your reply I will move it to where it should be!
  31. That does sound like a lot but it is several years since I needed that done (on a VW Alltrack) so I could be out of touch. I use Alto and Pennant Hills since they are ones that sold it to me and I have been fairly happy with their service over 4 years. We stopped using McCarrols Volksvagen in Waitara for our VW when it went out of warranty 2 years ago and have been very pleased with the service from the independent workshop Vision One Mechanical at 275 Peats Ferry Rd Hornsby (https://www.visionone.net.au/). I would probably do the same with the Skoda when it runs out of warranty in 2028. Vision One also have the advantage that I do not have to wait many weeks for a service appointment.
  32. Octavia mk4 ? This is the Fabia mk4 section. Judging by others on other sections having difficulties re fitting a tow bar and ending up with a less than satisfactory solution (manually turning off rear sensors every time you tow/drive etc) I'd suggest getting the towbar fitted
  33. Done about 100 miles so far and most of those on trip back from the dealer. Overall I like it. As mentioned in the reviews, the brakes take a bit of getting used to with not a lot happening for the first bit of travel. I think one of the reviews labels it a grand tourer and i think that is correct but time will tell. My wife will be driving it the majority of the time and she has a few other things that she doesn’t like in the 15 miles or so that she has driven, but most of those are to do with driving a more modern car with more tech. Only time for one photo today
  34. DPX2153 in that kit are Karoq rear brake pads. DPX2173 would have been the correct rear brake pads. Just keep using Karoq rear brake pads until those rear discs are replaced. I would consider EBC's entry level Ultimax brake pads (for normal road use) if they were price competitive with ATE ceramic (low-dust) brake pads...and sometimes they are.
  35. 95539 Km (238,3 in the Trip meter) so 238 Km distance which i could push things a bit more in Mountain Roads till 4100 rpm the Total consumption is 15,9 litres which is 6,69 ltr/ 100 Km Average and the Ø indication in the TC-6 agrees. Next stop was 95619 Km (318,7 in the Trip meter) so 318 Km distance the Total consumption was 21,2 litres which is 6,66 ltr/ 100 Km Average, both very good results ! As you can see i had problem taking photos, the sun's angle didn't help at all-was a hot day and i had not enough patience. One more test and the Summer is out, things went quite well far better than i was hoping.
  36. If you've got a Superb MK3 with 300x12mm rear brake discs, then EBC have sold you the wrong rear brake pads, ie. Karoq rear brake pads and not Superb MK3 rear brake pads. Karoq and Superb MK3 rear brake pads are almost identical, but the friction material on the Karoq rear brake pads doesn't go all the way down to the bottom of the metal backing plate...as shown in the below two diagrams. EBC can't correct their mistake, because the smaller area of friction material on the Karoq rear brake pads wears a narrower groove on the rear brake discs...and if EBC started selling the correct rear brake pads customers who used part worn rear brake discs that had used the Karoq rear brake pads would notice a problem. If you want the correct EBC rear brake pads for your Superb MK3 300x12mm rear brake discs, purchase the rear brake pads that EBC sell for the Superb MK3 310x22mm rear brake discs and NOT the rear brake pads that EBC sell for the Superb MK3 300x12mm rear brake discs...if you don't want to be supplied with Karoq rear brake pads. Karoq rear brake pads (for 272x10mm rear brake discs) Superb MK3 rear brake pads (for 300x12mm and 310x22mm rear brake discs)
  37. All four corners need new brakes. The rears are really not good (as I said, around 1/3 of the surface is being used) and the front may as well be done since you’ve got an issue and they’re not in the best of condition anyway. The excessive wear is indicative of an alignment issue - I suspect to do with the worn bushes. Garages tend to try and make money, but I’ve yet to find a dishonest, reputable VAG specialist. They’re too busy doing exhausts on RS6s to need an extra £100 putting premium air in my tyres. @Alasdair1 Ben at EightySix Automotive in Elgin is rather good. SVS in Dundee is also very good (VAG specialist) but they are a trek. There is meant to be a VAG place in Perth but haven’t had any experience with them.
  38. @OccyVRS is spot on with this, it’s common on this part. It’s just very rubbish painting on the rears. It’s just a bit unfortunate that the chunk of paint didn’t fall away from the caliper. Otherwise nothing wrong with them so don’t worry.
  39. Brakes all painted up and done Camera is very kind to this car New rad acquired and installed, easy job but not happy having to spend for one. Used triple QX blue coolant for it. G12 seemed to be corroding some of the pipes. All bled up fine, took for a run this morning to a car show. Busy as usual but car drove great. Brakes feel very good, handbrake too is very good. Quiet too. Took it up north to fill with 99, found one station in camlough that does it. As usual much more hassle than i'd signed up for but its done. Coolant temps staying solid, even the gauge on the cluster (which read hot almost instantly before) stays solid in the middle, even though it is basically a dummy gauge its nice to have it read normal.
  40. I have just received an invitation to a Skoda VIP event at a dealers in the north west. I can have a specific appointment time and a lanyard to show I am a VIP! I have had them before and binned them. What a load of twaddle. Call me a cynic but as far as I am concerned dealers can't shift their cars so invent these events to drum up sales. They are simply marketing ploys that some people fall for. For me, I will replace my car when it suits me provided the deal is acceptable at the time. Walk round the showroom wearing a lanyard to make me feel important indeed! Wouldn't it be better if dealers just reduced their prices to sensible levels to attract customers?
  41. Or just miscommunication, left side engine mount rather than LHD? Pictured one being right side.
  42. Hi, just wondering also, I have a 2017 superb 2.0, there was a loud scraping sound from discs a few times, went away when braked harder. Now warning lights have appeared on dash, abs, tyre pressure, hill hold, stabilizing control etc, they go away then pop up again. No garages open cause it's a bank holiday here. Wonder is the car safe to drive, and what the issue might be? Maybe abs sensor or needs new discs pads, seeing they were making loud noise prior to warning lights Any advice welcome Thanks

Hi. If you need any help with insurance at all then please feel free to drop me a line. Regards, Dan.
  44. changed the cooler today. Not a bad job apart from the nut size which was bigger than 24mm (largest I have). I ended up using a plumbers basin wrench, which allowed me to undo it at an angle and grip the large bolt. Will pressure test the old one when I get 5 minutes to see if there was a leak.

Quick update, we are now running air ride suspension. All because I bottomed out on the coilovers, on the way in and out the local shell station. Even at an angle it scraped lol. Nice subtle setup which does the job.
  46. It's a roll pin so you can just press it back in with any suitable tool, I used a vice.
  47. Hi all, Hope this is the final update on this journey! Yesterday I received the car from the shop. The AC lost some refrigerator gas and I suspected that was the condenser. It was with a lot of dents from stones, and even wholes, 11 years of intense highways here in Portugal Hi ask the shop to replace the condenser and check the charge air cooler radiator. They checked and propose to change as well the charge air cooler radiator because it was with a lot of small stones as well and because the front of the car was already out, it was the best time to do it. Apparently, problem solved!!!! Now, on high loads, charge air cooler temperature sensor 1 (before charge air cooler) can reach temperatures like 110-120ºC but sensor 2 (after charge air cooler) remains at 44 to 46ºC. On low boost, it keeps between 40º to 42º and we can see on the chart (android app) the pump turning on and off with the temperature dropping and rising. Hope this helps other to solve their problems as well. This issue was never solved by any shop since 2019.... After many €€€€ spend on other sensors and valves and cleaning, it was this community and my searching and interest that solved the problem! Thanks to all!
  48. Have found Pennant Hills Skoda good.
  49. Don't think it's to do with dpf regen. Although I'm happy to be corrected. This doesn't seem consistent with the fan coming on randomly sometimes when the car has been sat on the drive with the engine switched off for hours. Also nothing to do with lack of use. Last time it happened was yesterday evening, a couple of hours after a 120 mile motorway drive. The fan came on, and wouldn't stop until the battery ran out of juice... It's a very intermittent thing. Can go for weeks without this happening. I fear this will make garage diagnosis a nightmare, unless this is a well-known problem...
